Transit Middle School strikes a dynamic balance between vibrant student life and strict accountability, providing an environment where student wellness and structural changes shape the daily experience. The campus features modern amenities like powerful air conditioning to keep classrooms perfectly comfortable, alongside enthusiastic teachers who inject fun into learning with high-energy activities and rewarding treats like candy. Beyond the classroom, student life is packed with memorable experiences, ranging from a robust schedule of school field trips to active intramural programs like floor hockey and football. For older students, the school offers highly competitive modified sports teams for 7th and 8th graders that foster excellent school spirit and athletic development.However, this fun lifestyle requires a strong foundation of respect and focus, especially as the academic curriculum becomes significantly more challenging during the 7th and 8th-grade years. Transit Middle operates on a strict system of privileges: students who choose to act disrespectfully quickly lose access to sports, trips, and classroom rewards. This boundaries system is currently vital for addressing specific behavioral issues, such as the ongoing abuse and vandalism of the 7th and 8th-grade bathrooms.To help combat behavioral issues and better balance screen time, the Williamsville Central School District is implementing major technological shifts. Chromebooks will no longer be assigned in an individual 1-to-1 format for 5th and 6th-grade students starting in the Fall 2026 school year. Instead, 5th and 6th graders will utilize in-classroom sets of Chromebooks, keeping devices at school to reduce digital distractions. For the older students who still carry individual devices, as well as those using classroom sets, monitoring software like GoGuardian is deployed for everyone to ensure safety, filter content, and keep students focused on their tasks. Ultimately, combining these firmer digital boundaries and strict behavioral rules with enhanced emotional support frameworks and active family engagement will ensure that Transit Middle remains a safe, fun, and high-achieving environment for every student.

This review is based entirely on my personal experience as a parent, and it has been extremely upsetting. In my view, the principal and administration at Transit Middle School do not handle bullying concerns in a supportive or proactive way. When I raised issues, I felt as though the principal minimized the situation rather than addressing it. From my perspective, this created an environment where bullying was not taken seriously—especially when the child being targeted was “different” in any way.

If your child is curious, expressive, or simply not the kind of silent, unquestioning student the school seems to expect, this may not be a healthy environment for them. I saw very few meaningful accommodations, and concerns about student safety and well-being often felt dismissed. The long-standing staff and leadership appear unwilling to change or truly support students who don’t fit their narrow expectations.

In my experience, this school was not a safe or supportive place for a child who stands out, and I would strongly urge other families to be cautious before enrolling here. They deserve zero stars.

Administration is the worst. They do not have your back and bully untenured teachers, because of parent complaints. My mother just lost her Job at Transit Middle School because of kids that do not want to do their work. Instead of having the back of the educators, they bullied her to give kids good grades for no work. My mother did not let administration bully her and stuck to her guns by giving the children the grades they earned. My mother is a Spanish teacher at the middle school, who get compliments from the high school teachers, that her kids are the only ones who are up to speed with the curriculum. This is because other teachers, that teach what is considered elective classes, just use small packets for completion and games. My mother would rather lose her job than get bullied and lose her morals to give the children an education.

The biggest issue are kids with a lot of extra curricular activities outside of school. The kids should manage their time with help from the parents to get homework and projects done. Ultimately, kids are enrolled in school for education extra curricular activities are extra and should not be top priority of the kids or the parents. It is the responsibility of the children to come in early, stay after school, or talk to the educator about coming in during a study hall or free period. My mother made it know to the children that she was more than happy with all of those options to help the students learn and complete assignments. This is not forcing the kids at all it is simply another option for help that teachers provide for the students, it is the students choice to take advantage of those kinds of opportunities if they are falling behind. Unless a student gets detention or some kind of suspension they are not forced to come in early or stay after and the parents should not have a problem with that if their kid is falling behind. Those option are a curtesy to the students to seek extra help. I used to play football for the town and for the school at the same time and managed to keep up with my school work when I was in middle school, why can't a kid only doing one sport after school not keep up with his or her assignments.

The fact that my mother is losing her job because of the politics that the parents play with the education system is unjust. Shouldn't parents want their kids to have a good education?

Amazing, and so many chances for leadership! People admire you if you're yourself, and the teachers are always helpful and supportive. I look forward everyday going to school here, as I've made so many new friends since I moved here. Everyone is nice and welcoming, and we have great resources to help us learn.

We just recently moved to this district and the administration, staff and faculty have worked very hard to make our kids feel comfortable. They do a special orientation for new students in the summer, and the counselors have a lunch group for new kids too. The communication with teachers is superb, and both of my children in grades 5th and 7th, report enjoying their classes. Their are many clubs, sports and activities to get involved in, which is wonderful, because each child can find their niche. The curriculum is challenging, but that's part of the reason we chose this school: we want our children to do well academically. The only thing I would change about this school is a longer passing period. There is only 3 minutes between classes. so getting to class on time is often stressful for my kids.

6th grade made me leave TMS. I wanted out by Sep. 2014. Code X was an insane amount of mindless busywork and brutal dissections of text plus endless exam-length tests, AND constant essays with NYS testing. My ELA, Math and Science teachers sucked. My ELA teacher picked on the five kids who went to Gifted and Talented. Once, she assigned us a busywork packet while screaming at us because the Gifted teacher didn't assign any homework. It was awful. Another day, I kept checking the clock because I had a lesson, and she saw me and said if I kept checking the clock, I wouldn't be allowed to go to Gifted. I also had her for a study hall. One day she wouldn't let ANYONE go to the bathroom, and a lot of us has to go to the bathroom during math. Our math teacher flipped out, and we explained why. She asked the ELA teacher if she hadn't let us go to the bathroom, and our ELA teacher denied it, saying I would NEVER do that. On to my math teacher. I completed my homework in a way she didn't like, so she failed me for it and wouldn't let me make it up, but she couldn't follow my friend's work and passed him! That happened at least thrice. Everything was always the class's fault, not hers.

I am a current student at Transit Middle and I locve this school! The teachers are great. even the subsitute teachers are cool. I and my friends like this subsitute teacher she is so pretty and nice and helpful. She is very good looking her name is Ms. C. i cannot wait to see her again in the new school year. i hope she is a subsitute teacher in all my classes!

This school is absolutely fabulous. Speaking as a current seventh grade student, I love it there! The teachers are kind, funny, and always willing to help. The classes are always interesting, and I now love classes that I used to hate. The atmosphere is wonderful and the anti-bullying policy is strict and effective. Even the bus drivers are good; they are kind but enforce all the essential rules for safety. This school definitely deserves a 5/5.

This is definitely a good school, in terms of quality and cooperation. But I worry that Transit's reputation for academics overlooks something that has been the undisputed bane of my daughters' existence- the homework. My eldest daughter, for example, qualified for all three of the 8th grade advanced courses, but took only two of those classes because she was so worried about the workload. And even then she was up at 11 most nights trying to finish her assignments. My younger daughter took the regular courses and suffered the same problem. The teachers also have a habit of assigning projects over breaks, which in my opinion completely defeats the whole purpose of a short vacation during a school year. It certainly is depressing when your kids each have 3 projects to work on during Christmas.

This is really good! The teachers are great, and the principles and guidance counselor really help you make many friends! This is also number one in academics, and it even has its own store! You should really go to this school, because it's a smart school, a cooperative school, and a school with awesome clubs and activities!

I have really enjoyed my time I have spent at Transit. If there was anything that went bad, it wasn't because of the school in its entirety- it was because of the acts of the few. Also, many students do care about doing well in school, but there are many who don't try at all and that shouldn't be the school's fault. It's all about your attitude and not who to blame. Anyway, if you get yourself involved positively, you're bound to have a great experience at this school. My refuge was art class- I was there nearly everyday before school working on a project. Find what works for you and go off from there.
