My sons history teacher kept sending my son emails about how bad Muslim people are after my son told him that in our family we have catholic, Jewish and Muslim family members and we all love each other and were all equal. My son told me that he never knew this kind of hate existed until he went to kellenberg and that its the teachers that teach this hatred. Shame on you, dont send your kids there unless youre raising an ugly human.

Our child was struggling socially and wasn't being academically challenged in our home district. As a Christian family, morals and work ethic are at the forefront of our home life, so we wanted something that aligned with those values. Enrolling our child in Kellenberg was truly the best decision we could have made! The students here are friendly and welcoming. Teachers are so supportive and genuinely interested in their students success. Kellenberg establishes a high level of instruction and a quality curriculum. There are so many activities and clubs to help students find their place and interests. I've seen negative comments on here from students who seem unhappy about the religious focus and uniforms. However, enrolling in a parochial private school means embracing their values and traditions. If it's not a good fit, there are plenty of other options for schooling. For us, the faith based discipline and uniforms are an element we like. For our child, they enjoy wearing the uniform, it gives them a sense of purpose and pride, free of distraction. The criticism of a uniform is quite petty. Kellenberg is an outstanding private parochial school and I would recommend it to any child and family looking for a school where academics, character and community truly matter.

Im still having recurring nightmares from this school. Im actually traumatized and had to go to therapy. I dont know about the high school, but the Latin school is absolutely terrible. I was bullied in person and online by many children, the teachers expect high school work from 11 year olds. The lessons are more like lectures, the teachers are no help at all (emotionally and educationally). The school is way too big, the halls are a nightmare and you will get no help from anyone. I expected better from this school. I want my childhood back

Excellent school for those seeking a challenging academic environment and conservative values. My son used to coast through public school and earned straight A's with minimal effort. At Kellenberg he's had to earn everything and I am very pleased. There is no shortage of clubs and activities and he is surrounded by like minded, hard working kids.
Civility, Order and Respect are the cornerstones of the school, if those values align with your family then this is the right choice for your child.

I am a former teacher at KMHS. I retired after seeing many discriminatory activities. For example, when one of my students of my students was racially profiled by the Head Dean/Dean of Discipline this year. My student was of African American descent and was always in trouble for doing certain things other Caucasian students would not get disciplined for. I am extremely disappointed in how this school has changed over the years. In my over 24 years of teaching at multiple different schools, this school has turned from a fantastic educational environment to a racist white privileged school. I do not recommend this school to any parents interested.

I give it 5 stars. It was easy to talk to most of the teachers and going there made me more religious. That's why I joined the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary and I'm a Eucharistic Minister.

Kellenberg does not have a good approach to homework because there is zero control on how much is an appropriate amount. Many days, My kids are given at least 2-3 hours of homework. The teachers need to understand that these kids have a life and have more to do than do schoolwork.
Posted: April 3, 2018
This school is everything but the following things. I wish I would have never sent my kids to this school. The kids are very competitive and would rather die than FAIL. In addition the kids harass each other over their grades and financial situation as well as ethnicity.
Posted: April 3, 2018
At Kellenberg even the smallest differences and mocked and unappreciated and for children with any disability, Kellenberg is not the patient, warm, and nurturing environment it should be.
Posted: April 3, 2018
As a parent, I was horrified to learn about bullying at Kellenberg. My child's friend was mocked about her small eyes, while the students would frequently curse and make fun of others about grades, financial situation, parents, ethnicity, everything. If there is a difference, you can count on Kellenberg to make fun of it. The teachers do nothing about it however.

I would never have gone to this school, and I am So sorry to my kids for choosing this school. If you have the chance, DONT GO TO THIS SCHOOL! I regretted it and it just is a very bad school.

Yes this school helps build each student character. Students at Kellenberg show respect for one another.

This school is properly run under rules and guidelines and this help students with being responsible for their actions.

Each child is unique and special and is given the proper treatment for a better understanding of their surroundings.

This school does not except bullying. By teaching kids faith love and humanity towards each other. My beliefs are. Its starts in the home.

A perfect 10. From orientation to first day. Its been amazing. My child is extremely happy at Kellenberg.

By making the students conform to a strict dress code, the school eliminates the need for parents to "keep up with the Joneses" with the latest expensive fashion trend. This prevents students judging each other based on the cost of their outfit, and levels the playing field...
And since all the children dress the same way, they can be treated the same way. What does that mean? If gives children a chance to excel based on ability, not on family wealth. It also allows students to focus on schoolwork and activities with feeling somehow different because of social status.
Also, the charity events that are available, like visiting with the residents at a local nursing home or tutoring the local grammar school children, gives each student an appreciation for giving back to the community. All these things build strong character in the students.

As a parent who has put two children through KMHS (one of which also went to the Latin school), I am very happy with the quality of education my children received. They each had different academic experiences, and both were involved in the numerous after school activities available in the school.
Remember that this is a Catholic, college prep school. They have strict rules, especially around dress code and proper behavior. They call the children "professional students", and they are expected to act that way - so if you are looking for a more laid back environment, this isn't the place for your child. Both of my children have been back to visit the school post-graduation, which to me shows the positive experience and memories each took with them upon graduation.
As a parent, what impressed me the most about the school was the way the teachers and student body would rally during a crisis - whether it was a school supply drive after a hurricane, or helping a current student during a family tragedy. The school teaches compassion and empathy, which makes all their students better people when they graduate.
Posted: June 7, 2016
Like any school, the teachers at KMHS have multiple classes with numerous students, and most also are involved in after school activities. Not every teacher is able to connect with every student. I've sent two children through the high school, and they each connected with different teachers that more suited their individual personalities.
That said, since the teachers review the curriculum at the start of school, there should be no surprises about workload, frequency of exams, etc..
Posted: June 7, 2016
The amount of homework is a good preparation for the workload in college. It's important to understand though, that if you child is involved in extracurricular activities, time management will be critical - they workload can be overwhelming when combined with those activities.

Very few teachers are effective or really care about the students in their care. This is very sad
Posted: February 8, 2016
Posted: February 8, 2016
I do not feel that the teachers promote honesty, integrity, and fairness which as role models for their students would help the students develop these virtues.
Posted: February 8, 2016
There are some positives about Kellenberg but academics are not one of them. They are very strict which is not a bad thing. The children are expected to follow a set of rules and if they don't they have to suffer the consequences. My problem is their academics. Some of the teachers are good but many do not talk nicely to the students or parents for that matter and this practice is condoned all the way up through the administration. This school does not have an atmosphere of academic excellence. Many of the teachers could care less if their students even understood the material and just robotically grade the scantron tests. If you want a school with great academics and teachers that really care about motivating your child and helping them reach their fullest potential and that will become future mentors for your child look elsewhere. Save your money.

Looking at the other reviews, many people have trouble with tuition, strict teachers, religion, and college/honors. For tuition, Kellenberg is now one of the lowest tuition catholic running schools on Long Island! As for Religion, I understand why many people would be upset that their child hasn't been accepted, this year Kellenberg only accepted those who were baptized Catholics. You have to understand. Kellenberg wants all students to understand strong catholic beliefs. Yes I know it is unfair, but Kellenberg is a really great CATHOLIC school. And for those complaining on how they are "not very religious" that's what you sign up for! Kellenberg is very proud of their Religion. If you don't like Religion go somewhere else like Holy Trinity, I sure know that they aren't very catholic for a CATHOLIC school. Now for the problem of "strict teachers" for your information, not all of the teachers are "strict" yes there are some teachers that are strict but they at strict because they want you to do your very best. As for honors/college, Many people who graduate from Kellenberg receive a scholarship to many colleges. Kellenberg is truly a great CATHOLIC school on Long Island

My son graduated class of 2013.it w a s the best four years as a parent and student. M y son was involved with many clubs and has been involved with a group of friends which as of today they still hang with each other. Kellenberg is truly a school that never sleeps. To this day my son goes up and visit. Kellenberg has gotten my son ready for college. I as parent miss the school very much.

It's only my 2nd day here but I'm already loving it, the girls are NOT snotty or limited to one group at all, everyones so family like and willing to become friends with you. I think what really made me like this school more is the fact i DIDN'T make the cheerleading team. I opened my eyes to all of the cool clubs that almost everyone can get a club they like. I made some really good friends already and i'm looking forward to making more. But on a side note, some of the teachers are EXTREMELY strict when it comes to some classroom rules. A girl was late on the first day, and when asked why she just explained that she got lost and the teacher said that it wasn't an excuse. It was the 1ST DAY!! You just have to know your teachers rules and remember every teacher is different with how they handle things. Goodluck and you'll love it here!

As parents, we feel the school admisinstration does a poor job as advocates for their students. Our son worked extremely hard 4 years in their honors program and is a member of the National Honor Society.2 days before graduation, he was denied the right to display his hard work to peers and family and was almost denied the right to walk at graduation because of a medical emergency that prohibited from attending his Sr sendoff. We had spoken to the administration about the situation and my son went to the school the following morning to explain what had happened. He was advised to write a letter of apology for not getting on the bus to attend the Sr sendoff. Saturday morning we were told he was permitted to walk but they would not allow him to wear the Gold National Honor Society sash.We asked to speak to the school principal and were directed to contact the schools attorney. At the Graduation ceremony, they did not announce that he was a member of their honors program or that he was a member of the National Honor Society. This is our 3rd child that has attended the school but will be our last. This school has let us down. I'm pretty sure that this in not what JESUS would do.

As a parent, I wanted to send my child to a school where they will be cared for and prepared for college. After much research, I saw that many Catholic schools are all preaching the same thing: "best 4 years of my life", "one big family here". All of that is great, but the statistics are more important. After talking to there admistration, I found out that Kellenberg's SAT scores are quite higher than the state average. With over 1/3 of the school scoring 400+ points higher than the NY average, I was immensely impressed. I also was told that the other two thirds of the school score around 200+ points higher. These statistics prove that Kellenberg is truly an exceptional school. I also was impressed with the amount of schlarships given, another great quality of KMHS. The school promotes discipline and working hard which I like. After making the decision on sending my son to Kellenberg, I have been truly impressed with the academics. They are VERY challenging, and quite harder than my daughters public school work and my son's work in Trinity.(he wasn't accepted into KMHS).After all, I have been very impressed with the school and look to send my youngest there.

Kellenbergs such a good school! For all of you looking up reviews because I know the chsee or COOP is coming up but it's not bad at all. I attended the open house a year ago and thought "how scary this school?!" but i love it. i'm so glad my parents pushed me to go here. At first I hated it. It's school. But i think going to a catholic grammer school helped since friends that use to go to public school of mine were struggling a lot with the rules. I was personally so scared to even move in class or talk to anyone but i joined activities and got use to it and remember all these kids around you are thinking the same thing so don't sweat it. My brother and sister both went to this school and they loved it so don't worry and lastly I want to say i'm so happy i didn't go to Holy Trinity because if i did I probably wouldn't be doing as good as i am now. GOOD LUCK EVERYONE AND COME TO KELLENBERG. THE BIGGEST TIP IS TO GET INVOLVED!!! all the other reviews are from people who probably didn't get involved or did horrible in school but just keep up your studies and join activities!

Kellenberg is an amazing school. The teachers are excellent and the academics are outstanding. The students are so friendly and welcoming. Kellenberg is the best catholic high school on Long Island!

Kellenberg is superb! The teachers are total professional, but it is crystal clear that they TRULY care about their students as well. My third child just started today and he loves it. While it is very challenging academically, every teacher my children have had have made themselves easily and abundantly available. My oldest is doing extremely well in college now and I credit Kellenberg for preparing her so well. If you are a troublemaker, this is probably not the school for you, as it will not be tolerated. As a parent of kids who don't get in trouble, Im thrilled the tolerance level for those who do is very low. My children LOVE Kellenberg, as do I. I feel the faculty and staff treat the students with great respect and live in a Christ-like manner. Well done, Kellenberg!

Kellenberg has been a dream come true for me :). I have had quite a different experiencefrom the girl below me. I came from a not so good district where bullying was highly apparen't and the academics were poor. I needed a place to go where I can be the best and kellenberg really did that for me. The academics are challenging and the school is very disciplined. The deans are very strict and enforce every rule. The comps or finals were very challenging. Each one had like 300 questions and many essays with each one. This realllly prepares for colllege. Just look at where the students go when they graduate. they attend these great university's on big scholarships too. Another reason I went to kmhs! As for the students. I found them very open and kind. I'd say only 1% of the school is that typical snobby rich kid type. The other 99% were cool, kind and really friendly. Its really easy to make friends here. I love this school and the clubs and sports and friends here!! :)

I started out freshman year at Kellenberg. I was so excited to attend this school because I was going to be in the Honors track. I was looking forward to making new friends and trying new activities. A couple of days into the school year I started thinking "What did I get myself into?" Most of the girls were very snotty, definitely not family like. I faced some of the worst experiences of my life at Kellenberg. Finally after a couple of months of begging my parents to let me switch schools, they did. Sometimes I think maybe I was doing something wrong, but this school DEFINITELY does not live up to it's high status. I didn't find that the teachers cared about us individually, except for one. I wish that Kellenberg was all I expected it to be, and I'm incredibly sad that it wasn't.

Kellenberg Memorial High School is an absolutely incredible place. Kellenberg has solid academics and excellent sports and activities. Kellenberg's stunning campus features all artifical-turf fields, three breathtaking courtyards lined with fish ponds, four chapels, and wonderful science and computer rooms. cant wait to start Junior year, the kids at Kellenberg are the most friendly, helpful student body found anywhere. (a known characteristic of the school) But Kellenberg is not for everyone, Kellenberg is very demanding and the classes are very challenging, If you are driven to succeed and have a desire to learn you'll love this school. But It all pays off, every year the graduating class receives over 2,000 scholarships and grants, and consistently over 99.6% of the graduates will head to college. Kellenberg is like one big family with some of the most outgoing teachers and faculty anywhere. I my self am very involved and don't want to leave at the end of the day. Talk to someone about it because just about everyone knows someone who goes to K-Berg. Kellenberg truly changed who I am as a person and so many graduates say "It's been the best four years of my entire life".

I had one of the worst experiences of my life at Kellenberg.the staff treated me unjustly and made false accusations about me. The punishments just started getting unreasonable and I ended up in detention every day.Everything proceeded to get worse and I started to get bullied. The staff basically promotes bullying.DONT GO HERE DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY PS I had to leave In the beginning of the year
