As an above-average student, I wouldnt say its bad but it can definitely be better. Most of the teachers are nice even if they pick favorites which is honestly pretty rare. They usually get hated on as soon as they call someone out. This doesnt necessarily mean that the teachers are bad, it just means that the students arent really great here. The bathrooms NEED help. And I feel like the punishing system is kind of corrupted. They say that theyre preparing us for life outside, but they teach us things we will rarely use and not things that we will use.
One thing I need to point out about the corrupted system is how, if you get beat until youre bleeding, if you lay one finger on the other person, you are now immediately the problem and also gonna get a longer suspension for some reason. They really like the rich kids here too, and if youre kind of dumb and misbehaved, just know that youre not probably gonna get defended by the school. Even if youre a smart student that doesnt always mean that youre gonna be recommended. They tell us to work on our leadership skills, but I feel like theyre lacking at themselves. The subs dont really know how to control classrooms when theres no teacher.
If I had a dime every time I got made fun of in the school, I could go to college and not have a student loan. But a lot of the teachers here are gems. It kind of ruins your mental health here, just saying. I wish the school was a little more mature with the students and had a better way of discipline. A lot of things are rigged here for students that have teachers as parents or students who are better off than others. Smart kids usually get benefits and kids that misbehave can be blamed for pretty much anything.
Also they use their budget on re-painting the school??
Teachers are really overreactive sometimes, like it could be just as simple as writing something on a sheet of paper while a teachers talking and getting screamed at. But a lot of the teachers are really nice and thats what I really appreciate. A nice teacher can go a long way. If youre thinking about enrolling your kid into the school, its much harder for new kids to fit in here. Also, the sexism in the school is SO HORRIBLE both ways. Of course some new kids can have friends and get along with people just fine. But if you joined late, then you obviously have a disadvantage, I wish they would change a lot of things about the school, but its way better than most people are saying it is.

Absolutely disgusting leadership, learning is terrible here and the bathroom situation is so bad my kids dont even feel safe using them.

Poor. Limited to no quality electives, terrible leadership from the Superintendent's office, horrible college prep. This is the reality, from a parent who has put 4 kids through the school, all of which were top of their class, going on to 4 year degrees. There are a few great teachers who go above and beyond despite the terrible leadership, but the experience from pretty much A to Z is lackluster and inadequate at best. It says something, when the town officials send their kids to private or other school districts.

Hit or miss, depending on the teacher, but largely a miss. Homework should reinforce the lessons and teaching not just be as busy work for no reason.

Several GREAT teachers, Kwas, Cooper, and one or two others are standouts and awesome. Most of the rest could seemingly care less.

The WORST Superintendent in all of NY, of not the country. She is ineffective, makes poor decisions across the board, and makes zero choices in the best interest of the students.

The school is more concerned with keeping up with other nearby school's. They focus on "what it looks like" to outsider's to lure them to this district. The teachers, not all mind you, are here because expectations of them are low.

The teachers are lazy when it comes to young kids they don't find too likable. I had to move to Hamburg for my two sons to get the education they deserved

The bullying that goes on here is more out of control then the school will admit. They allow the popular kids to "slide".
