I'm sure this is a great school if you have a neurotypical high scoring child.
from my experience as a second generation Beavercreek school system attendee/parent to third generation, i'm incredibly unhappy. we specifically moved back into this school system so our children could go here and have regretted it since. to speak specifically of Main: we had multiple meetings after a new year/different teacher caused our kid to have thoughts of self harm at 8 years old. could not get the school onboard with any sort of testing to diagnose autism/ADHD even with a history of it in the elder siblings. looking back they were trying to force us out of the school so we wouldn't affect their school ratings. a teacher(who is still there) told us point blank that our child was affecting her bonus. (I believe she meant school funding but truly, I don't care what she meant, we should not have had to fight to get our kid out of her class). once they get our kid over into a class with a para and an IEP things were better. I will speak highly of the occupational therapist, and others that Then were assigned to our kid. but honestly, if I were you I wouldn't risk it. the school smelled of mold.

I have one daughter who went to Main and is now a Sophomore at the high school, and currently have a younger daughter who is a second grader at Main. Our experiences with Main have been the best. My older daughter is a Special Needs student on an IEP and I cannot express enough how well the teachers and staff took care of her all her years at Main (from Kindergarten on). They truly cared not just about her education, but her everyday physical and mental well-being. The para-educators (aides) who helped her daily were so caring and nurturing. I couldn't ask for better. The intervention specialists really worked with her to help her achieve her fullest potential, every day, every year. The physical, occupational, and speech therapists were also kind, helpful, and attentive to her needs.
I can also speak of my experience of Main with my younger daughter, who has attended Main since Kindergarten and is now in second grade. During this second experience with Main, my opinion has not changed--it's still an excellent school. She has had different teachers than my older daughter, and they have been great as well. She is advanced for her age, so I can attest to a different experience (from my older, special needs daughter)--and it's just as good. My younger daughter's teachers have made sure that her advanced skills have been nurtured and that she is given the tools and individualized attention she needs to keep on nurturing her talents. I am very involved in both my daughters' schooling, going into the classrooms, observing interactions, going on field trips, meetings with teachers, etc. so I have seen and continue to see firsthand how well the Beavercreek City School system has educated and taken care of my girls.

Main is a wonderful school filled with loving teachers. The school has a culture of kindness. I recently went on a field trip with my child’s class. I was so proud that my child went Main and how they conducted themselves as a group. The students were respectful, engaged, and knowledgeable.

God help you if your child is on an IEP and attends this school. Parental involvement is present, but they do what they want anyway. They follow the IDEA laws, but barely.

Quantity is stressed over quality. It's archaic.

Teachers are very hit and miss. The internal politics are VERY strong. Good teachers that think out of the box are not something they support.

Homework load is overwhelming and ineffective. Children on IEPs are left in the dust by their typical peers. They work them through the system, and they come out grossly unchallenged and behind. If you are thinking about buying a house here and have special needs children, you should strongly consider a different district. Otherwise, prepare to be ignored often and have minimal support.

I think it's just right. Enough to help them remember what they were taught in school, but not too much that the child is overwhelmed.

Our children have been at Main for 6 years. The teachers seem to really care about the children and we have always been able to have constant open communication with the staff.

Our son has now spent 2 years in this school (3rd & 4th). As I wondered if I could ever find a school that would put our son's education and confidence before all else, here enters the most caring teachers and staff at Main. We have to move this summer and I am very emotional about pulling our son from this OUTSTANDING school. My son has gone from struggling in the low end of the spectrum to exceeding well above averages. From day one this school exceeded ALL our expectations. A+++

This is our first year at Main; my daughter is in the 5th grade. Mrs. Villers and Mrs. Napier are outstanding! They teach organization--a very important life skill. The students each have organizers and are taught to write their assignments in them. They respond quickly to e-mails. I've been very happy with how much my daughter has learned in the first 2 months. Specials each day--art, music, library, tech, and PE once a week. Students each received an iPad this year with apps customized for each student's level. Met the principal at the open house at the beginning of the year. He was helpful (about cafeteria, buses, etc) and approachable. The front office personnel are very nice. Bus driver is great and on time. My daughter hasn't mentioned any incidents of bullying, inappropriate behavior, swearing, etc., as we've experienced in previous schools. Their DARE program is great. I do wish they had a few more after school activities. Currently, there is bowling, running club, choir, and art. Art is only for 3rd graders. Overall, an excellent school and I've only had positive experiences with the teachers and administrators.

With a brand new entrance this year, the safety concerns mentioned earlier have been fixed. We've been here two years. We are a military family and I'm very active in the school as a volunteer and PTO member. I've NEVER once seen an example where the children were asked to sit while an issue was investigated before pulling the alarm. We've had a few minor incidents this year and every time they err on the side of caution. The teachers are great. I can recommend Pugnale, Horney, Barnaba, Callahan, and Thompson. The librarian, Mrs. Pratt is top notch! The Principal Mr. D is caring and firm if the situation merits. He truly cares about his students and his school. The front office ladies are always there to answer questions or point you in the right direction. Smart Boards in each classroom and with the passing of the Levy this year, students will see more specials during the week (Gym, Art, etc). And each student will be getting an I-pad issued to them starting 2014/2015. If you are considering this school, please join the PTO. It is a hard working organization that brings so much to the school! We are PCSing this year and will miss Main!

This school as a whole is horrid. The entire school uses negative reinforcement instead of positive and when asked to incorporate it, they (teacher and counselor) were dumbfounded at how to do it. The teacher wrote off my child because he wasn't the "normal" type of child she's used to having. Constantly asked us to "control" him while he's in her classroom. And finally, started to demand that he be put on medication even though her classroom was the only classroom that he was exhibiting focus issues. His other teachers or coaches have never had this issue with him. There was also the incident regarding the principal. My son got onto the bus instead of the daycare van and when we talked with the principal, he told my son that he was a "bad boy" and told him I was disappointed and angry with him. Not true, I was angry with the school. He never apologized and took responsibility. Blamed my son for all fault. The school never told us this was a risk even though they knew of it since the beginning of the school year. There was no concern from the principal or teacher for his well being. This is our first year at Main since we moved and it has been a horrible experience so far.

Both of my kids attended this school for 3 years during our tour at the WPAFB. I think highly of the principle and the vice principle. I have witnessed how much they care about the children's safety. They have gone beyond the call of duty. I only wish this school had a better dismissal system and a safer entrance. Most teachers we had were great. The DARE program was very well organized. Field days could be a bit more organized, though. Overall, it is a good school.

This school is wonderful. The teacher are caring and help the students (my kids) thrive for their best. They have many activities that are fantastic. They help the students involved with everything! You will love this school inside and out! (P.s They have a wonderful anti-bullying program!!)

We have been very happy with Main and all of Beavercreek City Schools. The teachers and principals are helpful and caring. The parental involvement is incredible in all the schools. I would recommend, and have, to anyone moving to the area.

Main is the WORST school my children and I have ever encountered. The worksheet-based curriculum provides zero exploration in science, no opportunity for creativity in writing, rejects individualized instruction in reading and the 50-80 worksheets a week have successfully squelched both my 2nd and 1/2 day K daughters' love for learning in the school. Computers remain under tarps or are broken and the only 'technology integration' has been to take a typing course. The administration is loathe to work with the parents, leave students unsupervised and to their own devices during indoor recess (~70% of the year so far), and has ordered the fire alarm to be silenced and students to remain in their class rooms while the staff go looking for the fire! I wish I was just a disgruntled parent who doesn't know any better... but as a National Board Certified Educator who has taught in 4 schools in 3 different states, I feel I have enough experience to say that this school should never be recommended to any family moving into this area. I wish there was the option to give ZERO stars --because that is what this school earned. only the PTA earned more for their constant pleas for money.
