My children have attended the Piedmont school system for the past 8 years, and ultimately, our family has made the decision to move because of our experiences there. While Piedmont is often described as a great school system with a small-town feel, the district's rapid growth has clearly outpaced it's infrastructure, staffing and resources. Along with the growth have come significant concerns related to student behavior, traffic, water reliability, internet capacity and ongoing staff shortages.

One of my children had a teacher leave less than a month into the school year, and it took nearly 3 months to find a replacement. The replacement was a retired teacher who returned primarily to help support her grandson's classroom until the end of the year. While she did her very best, the classroom behavior issues were so difficult to manage and was told it was due to very little support from administration or parents to address them effectively. The ongoing disruptions created significate anxiety for my child and caused him to dread going to school due to all the conflict in the classroom.

Unfortunately, behavior issues have become one of our greatest frustrations with the district. My children have frequently come home expressing their concerns for their safety and what is allowed to take place in bathrooms and classrooms.

One incident in particular was especially concerning. My child came home with a busted lip, and when I asked what had happened, he casually explained that another student had kicked him in the face during gym class because he was sitting in "their spot". He also shared that this student had a known pattern of aggressive behavior towards other students. When I contacted the school, I was informed that staff had witnessed the event, but chose not to notify me because the assailant was special needs. It was deeply disappointing. My child deserves to feel safe.

In addition to these concerns, the district has faced repeated infrastructure issues that directly impact students education due to water outages and internet limitations leading to students being sent home in the middle of the school day.

These examples represent only a small portion of what our family has experienced. We no longer feel confident in the district's ability to provide a safe, stable and supportive educational environment for our children. We gave as much grace as we could all these years and now it's time to move from this school system.

So safe parents cannot even enter the office to speak face to face with personal. Want to pick up your sick kid? Put the info in the kiosk, sit down and wait. If you ring to enter the office to confirm your child has been called ring the bell and talk into the speaker, be answered tersely. This the most inhospitable educational facility ever encountered. My child is begging to be home schooled due to the negative atmosphere. This is the pervasive attitude throughout the district, from administrative offices onward.

This school is very friendly, and I would recommend it. (This is written by a student) The teachers are exceptionally helpful, and they help my fellow students with their work and make funny jokes. The lunch workers also care about our lives, and always make sure we're well-fed. (I will admit, the food isn't always amazing, but the Italian Dunkers are da bomb!!!)

As a student it was not a healthy environment. Students are disruptive and teachers are overstressed. MANY of the teachers are amazing but the sheer amount of students or misbehaving students overstressed teachers to where many of the grades are just GIVEN to the students to maintain good grades. The classrooms are overcramped so teachers can't have a one-on-one moment with one student, otherwise many other students end up struggling.

If your student has an option to attend CVTech their Junior and Senior year it is SIGNIFICANTLY better and it will allow them to join a trade right after high school (car mechanic, nursing, A/C worker, accountant) with better pay than normal.

Piedmont Schools are not as advertised. The schools are over crowded, understaffed and micro managed. The Admin do things their own way and sometimes that is very small minded and not best practice. Their Special Education system is not being operated correctly they do the bare minimum to get by and do not follow IEPS. If sports are important that is a very under staffed area especially in the lower grades. For an almost 6A School they do not offer what other schools of similar size offer. It is all very small town and the administrations children, their friends and loud parents get the most playing time. Its not for kids who work hard and show up. The teaching is not hands on and none of the teachers are happy. The turnover is tremendous and most teachers will tell you they are not happy. They do not offer many hands on classes like a Science Lab. There isn't enough man power to go around or rooms. They do offer ever student a chrome book and pretty much need to be able to handle all of this on their own. Communication is subpar overall. The committees that are supposed to be offered for parent participation are micro managed among themselves. The district recently cut ties with the Canadian County Sheriffs Department. They have hired their own hand picked school resource officers after being advised that this is not best practice. This is the best way for them to promote their Zero Tolerance Policy, which was originally put in place for school shootings. The district of Piedmont uses it to expel students without a way of explanation. Student being bullied and pushes a kid off of them-Suspended without a way to explain. Bully strikes student, student pushes the bully, everyone is suspended. Zero Tolerance. Buses that is another issue. Not enough bus drivers to go around, buses are over crowded, sometimes 3 to a seat. Some students have to sit in the floor. My daughter has gotten hit on the bus and no one stopped it or cared. I have taken it all the way to the school board. They told me the bus is a privilege. They will no show you camera footage. Students use vapes on the bus, fight and cuss. Unless the administration, mindset and system here changes go somewhere else.

I have a Senior, who has had a great high school experience. He was able to start taking college classes in 11th (concurrent classes through OSUOKC) and now in 12th. His senior year all classes are concurrent. I love the fact that by the time he graduates he will already have one full semester of college credits completed. Piedmont has a great athletic program where they continue to improve their athletic facilities making them some of the best in the state. To include many state titles in sports and band. Piedmont is growing and has several new schools, within the next few years every school will be new or updated and all will have storm shelters. The only issue we have had during our 7 years at Piedmont schools is how they handled a malicious bully/harassment issue. They failed our child by refusing to adequately address the issue! I can only hope through their own admittance of mistakes made during the process, that they learn from our experience so no other students have the same experience. They admitted they didnt handle it correctly when it was first reported which allowed the student to take it to a level even school administration was shocked by. Mistakes were made but hopefully lessons were learned so the administration can be more proactive in preventing future cases from escalating. Besides this one incident we have loved being apart of the Piedmont school system and highly recommend the schools.

I have a special child at this school and he has to take his medication. The teachers won't let him take his medication or else he gets ZAP. He also always gets detention because he has shoulders and he comes home crying crying because the other students tell him he can't go to SpaceX.

No teaching going on at this school! One of her classes all they do is watch criminal minds which my daughter asked to be excused from because of the violent content. They are currently showing the entire school Juno just to fill the last days of the year. Really? Most of her classes they just watch movies. This year she has seen Baby Mama, Avengers, and now Juno. The teachers do not accommodate for 504 or special needs. The vice principle is the only person you can talk to if you have a problem and he is no help. As mentioned in the other review they do the mandatory "cram" sessions to get the high scores. They are not earned by the teachers.

Wonderful school, child has attended for three years, and haven't had any issues with students or facility, except for one... Mr. Glasgow makes facility feel guilty, and is very rude to students. This school needs more principle involvement!
