We've had such wonderful experiences. This school is so great at building a heart of service for others and "loving thy neighbor." They have a strong curriclum and a family-oriented environment. We really love SMCS!

The school has a strict no bullying policy and adheres to very high expectations for good behavior from all of the students.

What a blessing to have this school in our community! Raising kids with morals and standards based on the Catholic principals while also providing a top notch education is something that is hard to come by these days.

We have been a part of St. Mary’s Catholic school for over 3 years now. We transferred in from public and my only regret is that we didn’t do it sooner. I am so excited with the new administration and new pastor. We also have excellent teachers. My children are getting an excellent education all the while development of strong Christian morals and values. We also have programs in addition to the basic acedemics that public schools don’t offer in elementary and middle schools. For example, all students take Spanish starting in Kindergarten. We also have a great physical education, art and music program to name a few more. Children can also give up a recess once a week and take piano lessons during the school day. There are many perks that St. Mary’s Catholic school has that public school doesn’t offer. The other parents, teachers, pastors, facility and staff are like family to us now. We have made a lot of friends and are very happy with our decision.

The teachers give the students time to work on assignments in class. What they don’t finish simply becomes homework. There are occasions that they may be a project like a book report or a test to study for that extra time outside of class is required. In my overall opinion there is reasonable amount of homework.

Character building is at the forefront of education in our school. This is one of the many advantages I feel that catholic school has over public. When you can incorporate Christian morals and values into education you walk away with so much more than just academics. This school helps develop your child’s soul and moral compass that most often leads their life in the right direction long past graduation.

I am very excited about our new principal this year Mrs. Hunsaker. She is a veteran teacher with a clear vision for the future of our school. I especially appreciate how she is following the handbook and utilizing the discipline protocols. She is very easy to approach and talk too. She is a very respectful and non judgmental person. I am impressed with the direction she is taking St. Mary’s Catholic School.

We have a program in our school for aiding children with learning difficulties. They are also upgrading technology and creating more learning centers in classrooms. This will allow teachers to cater to the children’s different learning styles and give them more flexibility with teaching methods.

Unfortunately bullying is a part of life. You simply can’t eradicate bullying. What I appreciate is that at St. Mary’s Catholic School it is taken seriously and dealt with according to the handbook. It is not sweep under the rug or brushed off.

This school does have some excellent teachers but as with every school some teachers shouldn't be there. The major concern is the inexperienced principal who has a terrible attitude and appears unable to support and bring appropriate resources to the struggling teachers. Enrollment keeps dropping. I wouldn't expect this school to survive much longer. My advice, keep your money and attend a thriving public school.

They only care about money here since it is privately funded and they don't have to follow basic laws about discrimination. If you bring your child here expect to constantly fundraise for them and expect to see preference for families who have the time and extra money to help them run this school. An example, private parking spaces for parents who volunteer constantly. Bullying is an issue.

Teachers here have said they don't want to teach at public schools because they have to do more at public schools.

We've sent our children here , but decided to leave last year when we noticed that the new administration is just not the same caliber as in years past and caters to the rich parents only. It appears this school is going down hill, and enrollment numbers appear to prove this. This school still has some talented teachers but the self involved principal and a few lazy teachers are ruining this school. Another concern, the state rates public schools on achievement and test scores, but this information is not included for private schools, so true achievement of this particular school is not known. When my children transferred out, they struggled to keep up at a public school.

My child has attended St. Mary's for 4 years. The faculty and staff are dedicated to their vocation and care for each and every student. The curriculum ensures academic rigor as well as personal and spiritual growth. There is no where else I would send my child. All faiths are welcome.

My child has attended Preschool I and Preschool II at St. Mary's. The staff are overly friendly and accomodating. It is amazing the way they seem to work with each student and know each student individually. I have often found that my child has had a behavior problem throughout the day and the teacher does not remember what it is but can ALWAYS tell me about a new thing that my child learned or a question that only my child knew the answer to. They seem to really take the time with the parents and the students. I have an older child that went to public school in Ponca City from the beginning and we have NEVER gotten this type of treatment from any teacher. I would highly recommend St. Mary's for anyone, not only for Catholics.
