As both a parent of a recent graduate and a former first-grade teacher at Lawton Academy, I’ve had the unique opportunity to experience this school from multiple perspectives over the past five years. Without hesitation, I can say that Lawton Academy stands out as the premier educational institution in the region.

The school’s small size fosters a close-knit community where exceptional educators are deeply committed to each student’s academic and personal growth. The curriculum is rigorous—designed to challenge students at a gifted and talented level—and while it can be demanding for those who do not prioritize academics, the school offers robust support systems to help every student succeed.

Our son transferred to LAAS in middle school after facing significant challenges in the local public school system. The transformation was immediate and profound. He went from being disengaged and reluctant to participate to a student who enthusiastically embraced every opportunity. The school’s leadership and mentoring programs helped him discover his strengths and gain the confidence to compete at both the state and national level in speech and vocal performance. He ultimately graduated second in his class and will be attending George Washington University this fall—an achievement we attribute in large part to the extraordinary faculty and staff at LAAS.

My own experience as an educator at Lawton Academy was equally rewarding. Teaching here was the most fulfilling chapter of my career. I appreciated the small class sizes, which allowed for meaningful one-on-one interaction with students, and the creative freedom I had in designing lessons. It is a nurturing, innovative, and inspiring place to work.

In every way, Lawton Academy exemplifies excellence in education—for students and teachers alike.

Excellent school! Lawton Academy has an amazing choir musical program with many students getting into All-State and All-Nationals Honor Choirs, Receiving superior scores at Solo and Ensemble and Contest, and always having a musical that is so engaging. There are also an award-winning speech program and debate program with people placing in the top 10 at state. They also have a lot of family involved activities like dinner on the grounds and fun Friday babysitting. Their classes are block schedule giving students the ability to take certain classes on Mondays and Wednesdays and Tuesdays and Thursdays. There are two electives you can choose from one for Monday and Wednesday and one for Tuesday and Thursday. Electives include choir orchestra, speech, debate, broadcast, AV, and many others. It also has an excellent math program with students placing high in the OSSM math, competition, and chapter math counts. They also have physical education and sports like volleyball track, cross country and soccer. They also have programs like the engineering fair and the Naqt/academic team meets for both middle school and high school. The teachers are super friendly, and so are the students. Overall a great place for your child to prosper in the science and arts and prepare for college. I would highly recommend the school.

My son is thriving at Lawton Academy! Finally, a school that will challenge students to be their best academically! I wish we would have found this school sooner. If you are looking for the best Oklahoma has to offer here it is. As a side note.....not one covid transmission in this school. Imagine that! This is the ultimate sign of a school that cares about children. They installed HVAC ionizers to scrub the air and keep kids and staff safe!

We love this school. My son was miserable in public school in another state. Cried everyday because the gifted program was one day a week for 45 minutes. So the rest of the week he was bored. Within a few weeks of starting at LAAS he was back to a happy child who was excited to go to school everyday. This school has been our best decision ever.

Lawton Academy of Arts and Sciences is truly a special place. My wife and I frequently think about the struggles many military families with school-age children face. Military towns do not always have great (or even above average) public schools, and private schools are often either unaffordable or otherwise out of reach. We believed Lawton almost perfectly fit this description. That is, until we discovered LAAS. Some friends of ours recommended the school, and we were anxious to visit and see for ourselves. As we concluded our tour last year, we shared a moment of true joy. We were so impressed by the both campus and the educational philosophy. This was particularly reassuring given the many challenges public schools in Oklahoma face. While every school has challenges, the school’s challenge was in how best to educate and develop students. From our perspective, that represents the truest form of nobility in the education profession. We knew from that moment on that our children would learn, grow and develop in ways above and beyond what public schools could offer.
Our two children enrolled in the Fall of 2016, and the initial moment of joy we experienced during our tour repeated itself many times over the course of the school year. Not only were the kids learning classroom lessons, they were learning about life, and caring for others, and about being responsible. As we reflect back on this school year, we feel incredibly thankful to the school and such wonderful faculty such as Mrs. Austin,Mrs. Puccino, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, and Mr. and Mrs. Johnson.. They have educated our children, invested in their lives and made them better citizens and family members.

Last year I was a parent at this school and this year I am a parent and also part-time teacher. As a military wife (and also as an army brat myself) I have experienced a lot of schools over the years and this is, hands down, the best school I have ever seen. The class sizes are small, the teachers truly do care about the students, and good character traits are taught and encouraged. I have four very different children at this school and all of them are thriving. The teachers instruct their weaknesses and encourage their strengths.
The school stays true to its name, and the students participate in a wide variety of artistic and scientific/mathematical endeavors. The teachers are all great at thinking outside the box and relating academics to everyday life.

I am so impressed with this school! The MathCounts team competed against both Elgin and Tomlinson, and 5 other schools from the local area in a mock competition at OSSM recently. Our middle school team was very advanced compared to these schools who have a much larger student population to pull from. Our school consistently scores high on the ACT, showing ALL of our graduating students are ready for college algebra and college English, and they are also higher in state averages in college social studies, and college biology by 25%-45%. My child in 7th grade was learning things in science this year I didn't learn until I was a junior in high school while taking chemistry, and I went to high school in a state very well known for their high educational standards. Yes, they do indeed teach both chemistry and physics here. This school is challenging, and with the small class size they get individualized attention. I love how they balance their course work with music, art, and encourage public speaking, and performances. A very challenging, and well rounded school!

This is a great elementary school. It is a good environment for gifted young students who need to be challenged in grade school. The elementary staff is excellent, and the curriculum is better than most elementary schools. However, if you are considering LAAS for middle or high school, think carefully. LAAS doesn't have the financial support to hire qualified teachers for middle/high school. Students graduate from LAAS without calculus and physics. They are not exposed to chemistry/physics labs. The English and literature courses at LAAS are excellent, but if your child desires to be challenged in math and science, perhaps you should consider a school that will offer extensive math/science opportunities (such as Eisenhower). Nonetheless, the small environment at LAAS was great for my kids. Students grow close to each other and it's easy to fit in. The teachers are caring, but the school's financial situation doesn't support the middle/high schools' needs.

This school has been fantastic form me for the nine years I've been there. It has pushed me to be the best I can be and it is still improving who I am as a person. So many opportunities are presented in this school such as MathCounts, FutureCities, Solo and Ennsemble contests, Knowledge Master Open Tests, Tournament of Champions, and many more. This school is the best in Lawton and the people that I have seen graduate have gone on to do amazing things. If you are planning to move to Lawton or to another area near Lawton dont hesitate to put your child in this school because they will have an amazing future after going through it. I know this because my chances of succeeding in life have been multiplied by 100 and I now have an even greater drive to suceed and learn. Thank you so much LAAS you have helped me so many times throughout the years. Also thanks to the amazing faculty who have helped me become a well rounded successful person and who will help me later on in life too.

Best school in Lawton, OK. The Adminstration and Faculty members are awesome. Best parents or should I say family ever. The curriculum that is used is the best I've seen in a long time. 2011-2012 test scores were off the charts. Would not have my kids go anywhere else. Love it......love it.....love it. To the entire staff, thank you. Don't know what we would do without you all. Such a hard working and dedicated staff.

We plan to stay here in Lawton because of this school! Thank you to all the families at LAAS!!
