Deer Creek is a wonderful and beautiful school! If were to change some things about the high school is how big the school is and the timing. The building itself is huge, they have so many buildings and its all over the place. Its like a college campus and doesnt have teams or a building for each grade like the elementary, intermediate, or the middle school has. And because the building isnt made for 2,000 people to walk in, it gets crowded by people who walks slow and cant make it on time to class. With that being said, we dont have enough time to get from one class to another. We only have 5 minutes to get to class which is enough if your classes is near each other, but if youre a freshman and is going from the freshman academy to the west, you have to go through all of these buildings and miss the bell meaning you are tardy. So, the school is spectacular, but those were the things I would change if I were the superintendent.

The schools terrible full of entitled people people who bothers others and dont act normal, all the bus drivers need to be fire somehow they dont care about you at all 64 specifically always drivers away when im near the app also does not show accurate time

I have had two children attend DCHS just recently, and they have both had great experiences! They have a very involved student council, great athletic programs, and very attentive teachers. Both in college now and both still have great connections with their friends, coaches and teachers they had during their time in HS. When we moved here from New Mexico, I was worried that the kids wouldnt adapt to their new environment well but the school and friends they met made them feel welcomed right away. So grateful we chose to move into the Deer Creek area.

Their counselors have no regard for student with crisis intervention issues or follow through. Their staff lack compassion or care quite frankly, its disappointing considering Im an alumni.

My son is a sophomore at DC High School. Hes been in the district since Kindergarten. Hes an introverted nerd. Smart as a whip.

DC has always been a special place where he can be himself. His teachers have been supportive of his nerdiness and provided him with the necessary tools to succeed. The administration has been awesome.

Granted, I cant speak to the high school staff. Hes getting to that age when we dont need to be involved in his day-to-day education. But hes got a medical impairment, and weve never had a problem with the admin and teachers keeping up with his needs.

I cant compare it with the other schools in the state. I dont have a kid at those. But in his 10 years so far at Deer Creek, we havent needed to intervene any more than any of my friends whose kids go elsewhere.

I think you have to ignore the 1-star and 5-star reviews. Theyre not realistic. No public school can be that good or that bad across the board. People who get bullied at school have a completely different perspective than those who are the most popular. People who find one teacher with whom they feel 100% supported find success. Deer Creek has many of those teachers. Some people just havent found them yet.

School district is a joke. Forget dealing with the vice superintendent. Shes the one that handles discrimination yet she is the worst of them all. No diversity. They dont want kids there that wont make them look good. If your kid has special needs he will fall thru the cracks! There is bullying and bad students get a slap on the wrist. Deer Creeks schools have nice building but ugly cold administrators handles their dirty politics. Beware!

WOKE District, TOP down. Not only WOKE with an agenda, but also with ZERO accountability. Not a safe environment for your highschool children, from administration, to administration staff to the janitor, flawed beginning to end. Too many lack of professional and Acute behavioral issues to comment on. If you choose to send your children here, you will encounter the upmost unprofessional, unaccountable school district you will ever have the displeasure to deal with. Teachers and Administration staff behaving in a manner that is nothing short of questionable and in many cases require a loss of license and accreditation.

We have 2 sons at Deer Creek. They have attended since elementary school. We have been very happy with the academic programs and opportunities here. Having 2 band students, we have been thrilled with the music faculty and their dedication to developing the students as musicians and also as persons of character.

Absolutely terrible. I had to move out of the district because I was bullied so often. The teachers saw this yet did nothing. Also once I moved I realized that the education at deer creek is terrible. I was three months behind in all of my classes when I moved

I am really ashamed to be a deer creek student. i moved here 2 years ago and I came here hoping that my life would be so much better, but no I was fooled. Kids are not welcoming at all. They are plain materialistic. They don't even try to make friends with the new people. And if you ask to sit with them at lunch, they might even say no to your face. This is just from my experience and this school is only decent if you have been here since elementary. Your just another number here and the staff treats me badly. I do not look forward to coming to school everyday. It's plain miserable. I heard great stuff about deer creek before I moved here. Nothing exciting.

Deer Creek HS, and the district as a whole is one of the best in the entire State. (There is no debating that.) When looking at overall ratings/rankings that are typically published at the /state, or national level.....the district never rates at the very top. However, it is for one reason..and one reason only. Those Ratings/Rankings use student "diversity" as a heavily weighted measure of the overall ranking. So, just because Deer Creek does not have a high percentage of minorities and or students of diverse ethnic backgrounds, they are punished in the ratings. So, you are welcome to interpret that however you so choose. Majority of the student make up, does include children of some of the wealthiest families in Oklahoma, so those who are not use to being around the "Country Club" type "rat race/mentality" see it as a bad thing...and have obviously complained about it on this site. So, as you can see...these have really been the only concerns......lack of diversity, and challenges of not being accepted by the uber wealthy. But strictly from an education standpoint...Deer Creek schools are the cream of the crop not only in Oklahoma City..but in the entire State. Period.

I graduated Deer Creek High school with the class of 2014. Ever since kindergarten I have gone to Deer Creek schools. I can say nothing negative about Deer Creek. The level of education is very high and athletics are the very best. I took pride playing football, wrestling and track for this great school. Everyone is very friendly and the friendships I made will last forever. I looked forward to coming to school everyday knowing I would be making myself stronger, mentally and physically. And it most certainly did. I highly recommend sending your son or daughter to get a education at this school. Now, I'm a United States Marine. Looking back on my life before the one I have now, I thought to myself that I was so blessed to go to Deer Creek.

I have been nothing but extremely impressed with Deer Creek High School. We have a daughter here and 2 more not far behind. The experience my daughter has had so far has been world class. Academics, Sports, Art, Music, Facilities and Staff are outstanding. The district is going quickly and I feel that the board has been very proactive in addressing the concerns felt by such a quickly growing district.

No school is perfect or without its issues, that being said I can honestly say that in my opinion the bad parent/student reviews given on your sight are coming from not knowing or having experienced a school district that has real deficiencies in quality facilities, staff, educators, safety, athletics, leadership... etc.... but most importantly in quality education and programs/support for student post graduation success and continued education. Trust me folks, this school is BLUE RIBBON TOP 10 PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL IN THE STATE. DCHS has a student body with extremely high percentage of the students in above average intelligence range so the expectations are not average... and that is the best kind of problem for a school to have. I am extremely proud to have had my child graduate high school from Deer Creek High School, and I also have the highest standards. The staff was not my favorite many times, but overall there should be great pride in attending this school district IMO.

I was a sophomore last year at DCHS. Deer Creek High School is a school with few fights and generally nice students. It seems that the school will change in the coming years, with many apartments being built nearby. Deer Creek High School is lacking a true arts program. There is a band and choir, but not much else. All plays are put on with cheap, reused sets that require a lot of imagination input from the audience. The band only exists to play for the football games. Although an arts building was (finally) built, the many efforts of students and parents to start an orchestra have all been denied. The NHS program is extremely disorganized, with all work hours recorded on slips of paper that get lost often by the students in charge. If they could, Deer Creek would become a sports academy. Academics are lacking, and discipline is practically non-existent, but public schools everywhere are going downhill. This small school is a good school to hide in as a shy person; you won't get beat up. (this may change with the new crowd drawn by apartments)

I graduated from Deer Creek, class of 2012. I had quite a few great teachers and many unforgettable memories. Deer Creek helped me prepare for College more then I wanted to believe while I was still in high school. The worst part is really the other students. They make it easy to change classes at the beginning of the year.

I graduated in 2011. Deer creek is one of those schools where you need to imagine the stereotypical Hollywood high school. It's full of clicks with the wealthiest at top. Overall from a student body experience, I hated it at Deer Creek to the point I begged my parents to let me transfer out. Most of my problems came from being in band. I was out-casted by my peers for joining band. To make matters worse I was harassed from my freshman year to senior year by the band members and the band director. I was told by the principals that I deserved and earned the way I was talked to and treated. After being threatened by the band director and other incidents the school finally removed me from band because my safety became an issue of liability to the school. However not everything about Deer Creek is bad. There are new principals since I've graduated, and some of the teachers there cannot be replaced by any teacher. AP 4 English, the AP Chemistry teacher are amazing examples of the education a child can receive. However, there are only a few teachers like them in the entire district that I know of. When there are other schools like Piedmont around, I would honestly recommend them over DC.

Deer Creek is a good school. This is a school where you have to make it your own, and as soon as you do, you love it. There are many clubs to join, and friends are plentiful.

As a student of this school myself, I can't say that I particularly hate this school... however, I do dislike it at times. The administration is all over the place; sometimes I wonder if they even know what they're doing. Consistency is a little problem also. For example, a teacher might be 2 weeks ahead in the curriculum compared to another teacher of the exact same subject. Also, the school makes it incredibly hard for someone to enroll in many advanced classes... most oftentimes, an administrator or a person of likewise standing will speak to you about your apparently "poor" decision. Seriously, if I want to challenge myself and think I can handle it and even went through the trouble of enrolling in all of these difficult classes, I'm pretty sure I would want to be in them. Sports are placed above academics at this school as can be seen in the abundance of sports award ceremonies and the scarceness of academic award ceremonies. All of these examples serve as irrefutable evidence in my observance of this school and its workings.

As a sophomore student from Deer Creek High School myself, I am here to tell you that Deer Creek charges a fortune for every possible thing that they can and the teachers act like they really don't want to be there, thus not educating us very well. I don't think that the school district uses the money wisely and the cliques are so awful that outsiders can look at a student from this school and can tell that they go to Deer Creek. As soon as i get my drivers license, I will not be attending this school anymore. Staff worry more about making money than actually educating us. They hand us text books and basically thats the only way we learn. I definately don't feel as if Deer Creek is a family, and I won't go to any football games etc, because I don't want to opponent to see me as "one of those Deer Creek girls." I am really ashamed to be a Deer Creek student.

School board is a total joke with good ole boy system firmly entrenched and fraudulent dealings run rampant. If your son wants to play baseball you had better ante up some money for the head coach or no play. Teachers are all new with 1 out 10 being competent. Parents even have their own cliques and are shall we say way over the top. Disgusting

We moved here in Summer of 2010. Given the hype about how this school was up and coming and all the talk of "community", we are pretty let down. I doubt if my daughter could handle another school change or we would move to Edmond North. One small feather in this schools cap is they seem to have a good principal but the superintendent actually said he was "not into academics" at a presentation: he likes sports instead. The school and school district are in a bit of an ad-lib mode and function somewhat without a real strategy. Still they will get a multimillion dollar football stadium and Oklahoma will still lag far behind the nation in college graduates but lead in football.
