Bullying is a huge problem at this school. The administration has not helped at all, their communication is absolutely horrible. I honestly feel they treat the black students differently in not a good way. Some teachers seemed ok while others would t respond and when they finally did she was so rude. This school is terrible!

While DMS has made some terrific improvements, developing a strong STEM program & employing excellent teachers in Vocal Music & Band, our district changes the administration in the middle & high school frequently. I hope to see some stability in our admin over the next several years. As for the overall educational experience, I feel that my girls will learn the basics. My oldest attended DPS from 2nd grade & did well until she began middle school. Advocate for your child heavily, if he or she has any special need.

The focus of 50% of the teachers is on the popular kids. Any quiet kid is typically ignored. A handful of teachers absolutely ROCK at teaching integrity & lead by example EVERY DAY.

My oldest has ADHD & Asperger's. While she attended some time ago, we were never informed of anything specific to help her. I forged ahead & scheduled meetings with teachers. Only 1 of the administration was helpful (there were 3). 1 teacher actually told my girl that all the social problems she had, she had brought on.

Bullying is horrible at this school. Last year a kid was sticking people with needles, in class!!!!

They support low level kids, NOT high level. The intelligent kids go into concurrent or votech classes by sophomore year.

The principals at dms are chosen because they are buddies with someone
Most have no experience with middle school kids.
The majority of them are coming from elementary schools.

The school could care less about your kid unless they are special ed or in football

Posted: October 10, 2016

Only a handfull truly care. The majority of teachers are just passing through or coaching a sport so they have to "teach" something

Posted: October 10, 2016

Homework is pointless
Worksheets about things my kids will need use or need in real life!

Posted: October 10, 2016

The district only cares about money and sports
They dont care about our kids or the teachers

Teachers do not care wether a student fails or not. One actually told my son, " I get paid wether you pass or fail." and just like others have said on here, if your child has problems with bullying or, really ANY kind of problem at all, NO ONE in the leadership of this school could care less.
