At first glance, this school seems great. Smaller school, small classes and a great place for your kids. That's until you realize all this school cares about is money. Be ready for tons of fundraisers, to eat at a restaurant of the school's choice every month to raise money. If you can't afford it, your child will be excluded from activities. Next on the money train is class parties. Which are great, but when one parent is required to buy 25-30 ChikFilA sandwiches it becomes extremely expensive. They will not allow sandwiches from anywhere else. When Teacher Appreciation Week came around, all parents were sent Amazon Wishlists from all the teachers. The items on this list were over $100 in hair extensions, $100+ dollar clothing and jewelry as well as $100 gift cards for Ulta, Nordstrom and Bloomingdales. Even during the pandemic and inflation, nothing has changed. Your child will not be favored above those who can afford all of these things. They will be left out of activities and talked to about why their parents aren't sending tons of money to their school. Avoid this school unless you want to pay for your child to be treated fairly.

When a vice principal stated in front of a child that they will fail kindergarten because that child didn't go to their prek program even before kindergarten starts then that school is not promoting strong character, at least not through modeling or appropriate behavior of the staff.

Holding a child back to learning levels the child has previously mastered instead of promoting growth does not encourage leadership.

A child reading a grade level ahead not encouraged to grow but made to use a reading book on grade level. That does not promote growth but stifles it.

I have had continuous problems with this school not teaching or encouraging children to excel beyond their basic grade level. There is no art class at this school and though teachers may think they are teaching art on class they really need to look up art verses craft. There is no set library day for classes. What is promoted here is still sports. Not academics, not the arts, just sports.

Flower Mound has an excellent homework policy which I was able to sit on as a parent committee member when it was created. Students are given a full week to work on "building blocks" that are review practice questions from last weeks learning objectives to help strengthen their mastery of the skill.

This is a blue ribbon school, recognized nationally by the U.S. federal Government. The teachers at this school are highly qualified and nothing short of amazing. They teach on their feet, include multiple learning styles, including teaching the students which I'd Howard Garner's Multiple Intelligences they are strongest in. Subjects are integrated and fine arts are taught regularly. Flower Mound testing grades have extremely high passing rates with almost all student getting at least proficient, if not advanced. Students are taught concepts, subjects, and real world application, not how to pass the test each year. Learning objectives are mastered and retained. I am thankful every that my children have attended here and that the teachers are caring and competent. This truly is an amazing school.

This school is full of good teachers, but the superintendent/principal has let the PTO take over too much control and this has helped a cliche of friends run the school. If your student isn't athletic they will be bullied. Either you and you kid is in the "in crowd" or your nothing. The school is going broke they say, but that doesn't stop the sports from being a top priority and growing. I have heard that they had things going on the the gym/cafeteria/class/ everything room, all winter because of basketball and archery. I used to love this school, but now I'm just overly excited that my kids will not be there much longer.

I can hardly believe this school year is almost over. Our family was blessed to be included in this district for the first time this year. The classroom teachers care about our children. The school uses many forms of communication so that parents are well-informed about school events and activities. School leadership and high expectations for everyone really make a difference. We are looking forward to another great year.

This school has set the standard in our family. Our kids were well taken care of and nurtured in a positive learning environment. From Pre-K to 3rd grade the teachers and staff even students at Flower Mound have left an impression in my kids' minds forever! And.. I will just be honest. No racism, no favoritism, no ill impressions were made ever! We wish other schools were like this one!

We too are a military family that actually live in the Flower Mound district. I too have had issues with the administration. I agree with the review about not being a military friendly school directed at only the principal and select few office workers. Both of my children had wonderful teachers thoughout the years. The cafeteria workers, secretary, librarian, teachers, aids to the bus driver have been wonderful. I think this school would thrive if it had a new principal to run it, that's my opinion. I believe that's where the frustration of some of the negative reviews are coming from.

Flower Mound school is an average school when it comes to teachers, you either get a good one or a terrible one. The principal is unethical, and unprofessional. If you never have an issue with her or the staff you may believe this is a wonderful school. Once you have any issue she will show her true colors. I used to be involved with volunteering in the classrooms, field trips, and extra activities until I felt like I was being used for free labor. We are a military family, Flower Mound is not a military friendly school. I had a friend's husband have the general called on him for a disagreement with a staff member(after being asked for help). The principal didn't even get his side of the story before trying to ruin his familes livelyhood. She and the staff member embellished the details of dissagreement to be spiteful. Thankfully they were unsuccessful so be warned if your a military family. I would not recommend this school to anyone it needs new leadership an a new building.

The school environment is highly cliquish, competitive, and socially exclusive. Based on my observations, the PTA runs the school and all extracurricular activities. The administration appears to be bulldozed by a select group of parents who, according to one father, are part of Lawton's "high society." In all my life, I have never seen so many parents loitering in hallways and classrooms during the school day. I was highly uncomfortable with this practice and believe it to be a huge distraction for the children. Teachers are reluctant to discipline the so-called "popular" students. Staff are unprofessional--my wife was jumped by one staff about her place of work and another commonly disclosed her personal problems to me at pick-up. Confidentiality is commonly broken, as well. I would recommend another elementary school.

My granddaughter has attended Flower Mound for 2 years in PK and Kindergarten. She loves school and her teachers. She is reading and learning so much! Her teachers love and care about her. I'm so happy that we have found a quality school for her education. The school has installed a security system which comforts me. I know that she is safe at school. Many apply to go to this school but there are limited spaces. I am glad that she has one.

As an involved parent for multiple years, I have chosen to take my children and run. Until there is an overhaul of the administration and certain teachers, this school will continue to deteriorate. The principal runs a dictatorship in which the teachers and many students are left helpless. The principal sporadically shows up at school, and when present, is often ready to snap. Work and evening functions are delegated to teachers. The principal handpicked the board, and they defer instead of making independent decisions. Teachers receive no support and are told to keep quiet about serious behavior issues in the classrooms. The principal and several of the teachers can talk a good game, but don't be fooled. This school does not put children or education first. Your only hope is to be one of the chosen few, in which case you will be able to do as little as possible while taking credit for the hard work of others.There is a reason why this school is losing its best teachers, and the school will continue to do so until major changes take place.

I am a very involved parent ,volunteering in classroom as well as field trips, Spring fling and other school activities. The PTO does wonderful things for the school and the children. This schools most obvious fault is it's leadership, it needs a major overhaul. The principal is a politician she tells parents one thing aand does another. I've witnessed her being rude talking to some of her employee's in a mean demeaning manner. The school board needs to consider making a leadership change. This will not happen because the school board is set up with the principal's allies. As a parent when you speak up on an issue you have with the school the principal treats you like you have the plague. Which in turn makes you feel uncomfortable being at the school helping out.

It seems to me that when a school has voting for PTO officers, every office should be open. I understood these positions were voted on every year (or should be), We, as parents are willing to step up, but the same few seem to stay over and over. How can new parents get involved if no one allows it? This is not a happy school.

I would like to start out by saying that we have had nothing but a positive experience for my children at Flower Mound. I also respect that everyone is entitled to their opinion. What concerns me about some of the posts I have read on here is the fact that 80% of the students that attend Flower Mound are transfer students, meaning those parents make a choice for their children to attend and if they are so disgruntled with the way they feel things are being done or run, then they should exercise the right to take their children back to their home school, because there are plenty of parents who are on a waiting list and would love for their children to receive the superior education this school provides my children as well as the rest of the student body. There will never be a perfect school but I couldn't be more blessed to have my children attend Flower Mound

I wrote a review yesterday it was a negative review on my experience that listed no names, no allegations and no inapproprite language. If you can't give a honest review on here what is the purpose of this site? How is Flower Mound able to take off truthful reviews that are negative? With that said I would not reccommend Flower Mound school it has several issues which apparently I'm unable to comment on or my review will be deleted.

I'm amazed how several of the negative reviews have been removed from here about Flower Mound. I get updated when a review is posted through email and have noticed many reviews that were blunt and truthful have been removed. I guess Flower Mound had these removed because they struck a nerve. Another reason for parents to look elesewhere for their childs education.

Flower Mound is the ideal elementary school that parents want for their children. My son has some difficulties with ADHD and SPD. Flower Mound took great care of him and all his needs to help him succeed for the school year. We saw big improvements with him. We were always kept updated and knew that he was cared for and loved by the staff of Flower Mound. Not only his teachers, but a lot of the other staff kept in touch and helped us continuously. Never once did my husband or I have any doubt about this school's ability to care for my child and his education. Hands down, one of the best schools in Lawton. We recently moved and Flower Mound definitely "spoiled" us. It has been really hard for us to accept the fact he is no longer in Flower Mound.

Flowermound School is a JOKE. There is NO leadership! It's only a Dictatorship!!! The building itself needs to be torn down or completely renovated. Majority of the classes don't have air. Some of the 'classrooms' are mobile buildings outside. The playgorund always smells like sewer. The toilets never flush properly. The auditorium serves as an 'all purpose' room. Some of the teachers don't have your child's best interest at heart. I really don't understand why they're even teaching. This school says "Striving for Success No Matter What It Takes", but that's a lie. If you are a parent that takes an interest in your child's education and you are willing to stand up for your child when they are being unfairly treated.....DO NOT ENROLL YOUR CHILD IN FLOWERMOUND!

Teachers so far have been great, as far as the leadership I'd say it's lacking. The principal needs to be replaced, I believe this one is burnt out. I've noticed through the years the demoralization of this principal. She lacks the integrity needed for this job, which is a must when dealing with our children. I have spoken to many parents and they have agreed this school would be much better with the right leadership. We need someone in there that doesn't fold to politics. Placing the parents or their family members with money in charge of the PTO and School Board.It's public record, just take a look for yourself and compare staff with school board members.

the school needs definately a building that can accomodate all students and their needs, as classrooms are small, and not enough! Cafeteria should be easily accessible, without children going outside of building - in bad weather this is a disadvantage! Teachers are wonderful, and their program in both pre-K and K is great. Kids love it and are doing great. I do provide 100% of parent involvement in my children's education! I am a strong believer that the child should learn both at school and at home and parents guidance and assistance is the best way for kids to achieve success in everything!

When my children started this school in Pre-K, it was a great school. Over the last several years, the Principal has managed to run it into the ground. The school board members are hand selected by the Principal so that she can manipulate them into letting her run the school without oversight. The classes are over crowded. The gym is the lunch room, music room, and anything else they can squeeze into it. The kids have to have PE in a covered bus area that is covered in bird droppings. The library is also a 4th grade classroom. The annual State test scores reflect the fact that educating the kids is not a priority. As history has shown us in the past, one person can make a difference in a positive or negative way. Unfortunately in this case, negative is an understatement. I would look to LPS instead!

Pre K teachers amazing after that all goes away. Classes are too big teachers don't have time for one on one. Class rooms are too small for 35 kids in one class. Principal does not communicate well with the parents.

This is one school where you have wonderful leadership and teachers who clearly put children first. The education they receive is second to none. I have two kids attending there, and absolutely love it!!!!
