This school, which I only have experience with the grade school K-5 level, could be wonderful. My child has learned a lot. Where they fall incredibly short is allowing bullying. If a kid is unfortunate enough to be singled out by a bully, said bully will recruit others to assist in the bullying. But staff will act oblivious and they will do nothing. Not only does the parent have to bring it to their attention, they do nothing then as well. I can say some school administrators did want to help, but they werent encountered as a possible resource until my child was to leave the school and others, who couldve included this person, never included her into the conversation. She was a top administrator, without being specific.
The teachers etc have excuses, but they know who the bullies are and could do much more without requiring the child victim to become aggressive-assertive to get it to stop or report on the bully and their sheep of followers for each occurrence.
Also, now this school is deciding to weaken their discipline policy and get rid of punishments and intervene behaviorally when they dont even punish any single one of the bullies already. If anything ever changes for the positive with the bullying of targeted students at this school (I know other parents whose children still attend this district), Ill be happy to delete my review.
But before you send your kid here, or if your kid just started here, please watch out for rampant, ruthless bullying. The district will do nothing to help your child, though they will pretend on paper that they made efforts. Your child will attempt to get out of going to school daily because they hate their school solely because a ringmaster bully, enabled by complacent staff, will not only bully your kid, but get others to do same and ruin your childs entire reputation with any potential friends they could have had.

The Environmental Charter School has been an incredible resource for my children! My son was accepted for 1st grade in 2016 and my daughter entered Kindergarten the following year. The teachers have always been exceptional! Looping 2+ grade years allowed them to get to know my children so well both academically and personally.
Both my children found traditional classrooms very difficult learning environments. Learning math, science, and reading in the parks on a regular basis was a lifesaver! The school embarrassed different learning styles and encouraged learning in all settings.
Project-based learning also increased my children's ability to use the concepts they were learning in real life situations!

Worst school ever!! If your child has any sort of special needs - DO NOT go here! They do nothing to support them and dont follow IEPs.

Excellent. The teachers are passionate, caring, and will work with parents to ensure that children are maximizing their potential. The approach to homework -- long term projects, not much learning by rote memorization -- may not work well with every student or family. In addition, it is not as racially or economically diverse as they would like, but again I cannot imagine a faculty and administration being more pro-active in trying to address that deficiency or in welcoming parents and community members into making it a more anti-racist learning environment.

It's not for everyone, but they approach homework in terms of long-term projects (for kids above fourth grade). I'm delighted they don't assign homework until fourth grade, since research shows it's not effective anyways for younger kids.

They are passionate about students, and if I have any concern with how my kids are performing they are incredibly responsive.

I was worried when we switched our kids to a non-Catholic school that character wouldn't be as fundamental, but it is. Each month there is a character trait they focus on, and they make it a central part of the curriculum.

From all of my experiences the leadership has been clear and strong and attentive to parent concerns. All of the principals (at each of the three schools) and the overall superintendent are clear in their communication, thoughtful and fair in their deliberations. I can't imagine leadership being more responsive and welcoming parent involvement.

Again, clear and swift communication seems important. If there has ever been a problem, the teachers communicated them immediately and dealth with it. I've never had a serious issue.

Terrible. In addition to the horrible bullying experience that was totally mishandled, my child also was unprepared for high school. There are 3 core classes and no language.

Teachers & staff have been great with my child. Teacher turnover rate seems pretty low - they enjoy working at this school.

The math and science at this school is amazing. The English and grammer, not so great. My child love this school, but I removed her for she was not getting any English. Other than the lack of English this school was great. The teachers were young and fresh out of schooling, but amazing. They were extremely nice and very understanding.
