My three children went through the Montour school district and honestly if we had to do it again, we definitely would have went a different route. We did not have a good experience. My experience has been that the people who love this district are the ones who grew up here, stayed here and sent their kids to Montour, as well. So as you can imagine, if things are going well .then great! ..but if you have a problem and you are not part of the good ole boys .no one will really help you. Moon, West Allegheny and South Fayette are close and probably better choices than Montour. My children are grown now and have their college degrees and adult jobs and not one of them is interested in staying and raising a family here in Montour.

I attended the high school from 2009-2013 and have been in the Montour School District my whole life. When I was there, Dr. Boyer, the now ex-superintendent, definitely did some damage to the school quality. However, they have a new one and are hopefully on the way up. I think that Montour is a pretty good school district as far as public schools in the area go, and we were very fortunate to have many CHS, AP, and honors courses available to us that put me ahead in college. There are definitely some extra curricular programs that are favored more than others. Basically, if you're an athlete and choose to coast through on that, you can. Far too many teachers will pass you just because you're on the football team. A little pathetic, but not the only school that is like that unfortunately. The teachers are hit and miss. While I was there, the math department was overall pretty excellent. Mrs. DeRose and Mrs. Brennan are particularly wonderful math teachers. The English was in pretty rough shape, but again in comparison to other schools in the area, it was acceptable. The other areas of education were pretty average. Overall, despite some flaws, my time at Montour was pretty great.

I am pleased with Montour High School. My daughter, a senior in January of 10 transferred to Montour High School. We had transferred from Mount Pocono School district and I found out she almost had all the requirements for grad. Thankfully, she had not much to do complete to graduate. I am grateful she was on her game, and Montour could see it. At first, they thought she was behind but we found out she was ahead in all her classes. I am staying because I have 2 other children rising to the High School in 2014.

This school is at least 3 years behind in academics. My daughter withdrew from this school after going for two weeks, because she was too smart and they refused to move her up a grade.
