This school has very caring, involved and responsive teachers, a highly active student body, a plethora of engaging and interesting clubs and activities, and a rigorous curriculum, especially for advanced learners who seek interesting ways to engage in their education. The community as a whole is deeply invested in the students of the Camp Hill School District, even folks who don’t have, or no longer have, students in the school system. The Lion Foundation supports the school district with financial contributions, putting money towards technology, music, art, and a number of other areas where public funding falls short. Overall we feel very lucky to have found the Camp Hill school district, it is truly a hidden gem.

This is an excellent district that emphasizes tolerance, understanding, and compassion. It is sad that some see this as indoctrination. The quality of the faculty and the student:teacher ratio would be a private academy if this school were in a top 20 metro area. The difference is that this one is supported by taxes, not tuition, paid for by adults who value education for the community or their children and will pay taxes to support that. I moved here before I had children for that reason. I experienced that with my special needs children when they went to school here. This district and town saved their lives and made them competitive enough that they got scholarships to attend private colleges. I pay these high taxes even if they are grown now so that other families who m8ve here have that opportunity. What is that worth to those complaining about taxes or indoctrination? If you don't value education or tolerance, understanding, and compassion, this is not the place for you. You will not fit in. You need to move to be with kindred spirits in places that celebrate and welcome the intolerance, ignorance, and mean spirit of businesses like Chik-Fil-A or Hobby Lobby. Camp Hill is small but it is not that kind of place. Yes, the houses are smaller and many lack garages. They make up for that with education, achievement, and security of values. You can always buy a bigger house or two garages elsewhere but you cannot buy that.

In terms of education, Camp Hill is top-notch. As for diversity, racial/socioeconomic sensitivity, they are terrible. Students from this district come from affluent households and it shows. They are also mostly white. The parents can be stifling, uptight, and cliquey. Basically, if you’re a transplant, good luck making true friends as a parent. As a student, kids have a spoiled rotten attitude that leaks into the educational atmosphere. The teachers are superb, so long as you don’t bring up anything having to do with racism or being treated differently.
