My son transferred here from PA Virtual. Due to budget cuts PA Virtual was playing with my sons classes. It was like we were doing school from morning to evenings because of their pathetic set up after budget cuts. My son now is a honor roll student. We love this school and their staff. The support here with Ms. Houston is the best I never had support from any school like that. If I need a different therapist for my son she works on it and has one reaching out in less than 24hrs. I have absolutely no complaints with this school as of today. We been here 2yrs now.

If your child has an IEP you will need an advocate if your child goes to this school. This school is focused on their best interest and not meeting a child's needs. I believe due to budget cuts my kids education has been at risk. The IEP is a word salad game full of deception so they do not have to take accountability for meeting your child's needs. Ask yourself if this document a true presentation of my child's needs and weakness. They don't provide meeting notes at Meetings. The school has awesome field trips but if your child struggles with social skills it will not be met by going to field trips. Parents and kids will be doing their own thing at these events and it does not open the door to socialize with other kids. My biggest complaint has been in person services, you agree child needs it and the school will turn around and tell you they can't find staff in your area. My youngest has been waiting for over a year for services. They also have high turnover for providers. Your child will get a different provider each year and each summer for ESY. They don't provide tutoring even though they say they do. They set you up with coach that is volunteering and does not have a license which means no data will be collected. They provide programs like Raz Kids, IReady, Sora. You will ask multiple times for prior written notice and they will refuse and tell you they explain it in the IEP. Watch out for those Re-Evaluation they will do a review of data and than decide if they need further testing but they will take driver side and pretend like they know what best for your child than you. Parent involvement is important make sure they involve in the process this school will violate your parental involvement. They will twist your words in the document. Make sure that anyone at on the list comes to the meeting. They jot down people names and they don't attend the meeting. Lastly, their tech support people are very friendly and helpful in blocking website so child stays focus. If I could give thesm a pay raise they are backbone of the school. Teachers are friendly I only encounter 1 rude science teacher. She teaching 80 kids virtually so she was stress out. I hope this was helpful, have a good day!

Im currently a student at CCA. The core classes arent that bad, but the electives are awful. I took Music Theory first, which I really enjoyed, and I joined the honors program led by the same teacher.
This year, I enrolled in Discovering Music even though I already have experience, simply because there were no other music courses available. This class is terrible and actively encourages students to use generative AI to create music, even though generative AI is considered plagiarism in every other CCA course. When I questioned this, the teacher told me it was a tool approved by the CCA learning department to help students create music without background knowledge. That makes no sense. Discovering Music is supposed to teach background knowledge, not replace it. Instead, the course repeats concepts I already learned in Music Theory, which is clearly a more advanced class.
I also decided to take Japanese. I already speak Japanese at around an N3 level because I learned on my own. I started in Japanese 1 with Ms. Tika, who is an excellent teacher, but the curriculum was very weak. I was then moved to Japanese 3 with a native speaker as the teacher. Despite this, Japanese 3 still teaches N5 level material. There is no real difference between Japanese 1 and Japanese 3, so there is no clear purpose for having multiple levels.
The Japanese 3 teacher is also extremely unprofessional. He is late to class every single day by 10 to 15 minutes. Since Japanese is scheduled directly between my first and second periods with no break, this constantly cuts into my second class. Because of this and the lack of meaningful instruction, I stopped attending live meetings. I can complete all assignments without watching the recordings, and I am not learning anything new.
The Japanese teachers also host something called Nihongo Cafe, where students from all Japanese levels meet to practice Japanese. One of the teachers there could barely pronounce basic Japanese. I also tried speaking Japanese to other students from Japanese 1 through 3, and none of them could understand a simple question like What did you do today? Many students there also complained about how bad the Japanese classes are.
CCA needs to do better. Students deserve qualified teachers, consistent expectations, and courses that actually teach what they claim to teach.

My son switched to CCA in the middle of his 10th grade year, due to bullying and lack of support at our local brick and mortar high school. I was wary - i didn't think he'd be disciplined enough to do it, honestly. Turns out, when you remove distractions such as peer pressures, bullying, and having to sit under fluorescent lighting for 8 hours a day, kids might actually enjoy school. My son had more sleep, ate better meals, and was all around much happier and successful. He's just begun his first year at college and I truly believe because he has experience with cyber school, he is much more used to being self-driven to get his work done. My only regret is not taking this path sooner in my kids' lives.

I went to CCA and at first I thought it was gonna be fun, but it got really bad fast. They said it was flexible, but I barely had time to eat between classes. Most of the kids kept their cameras off, and even the teachers looked tired and bored. I had to be on the computer like 8 hours a day, then still had like 2 more hours of homework. Sometimes all the tests were on the same day, and it made me so stressed. I never had time to hang out with friends or even chill with my family. After a while I got so tired and overwhelmed that I couldnt even focus anymore. Please dont send your kid to CCA theyll be miserable.

Im a current student and CCA has been nothing but great for me, when Im behind on work contacting a teacher for help is always a breeze. I definitely do believe you have to put in effort to see results from the school- especially as a parent. I think a lot of parents see this as a get out of jail free card for being cooperative in their children's education. No- you cannot just let your child run free with the classes- most children will need help, especially with keeping up and not getting distracted. Make sure to obviously set rules in your household with staying on top of grades, and work. They also provide a bunch of extracurricular opportunities, that students have to ACTIVELY (for the people in the back, ACTIVELY) seek out. Thing wont just be handed to them on a silver platter, if your child has no interest in their education and improvement they will not succeed, this in itself is less of the schools problem- and more the parents. Push your children for a better future because CCA can help provide it. Im a more art oriented person, and I am looking into duel enrollment at an art school in Lancaster to get my certification in Fashion related subjects. Im also a very independent worker, and work mostly asynchronous, I have straight As and mostly A+s, before CCA I tended to fall behind in my education- and had little to no interest, but as of recent Ive really been focused on my education and future career. Im also in a low income household, and them providing the supplies has been a great help for my parents, I think the freedom Ive gotten from CCA has lifted lots of stress off their shoulders, and they see me succeeding now, and in the future. Nonetheless, any type of school works for different students, B&M, private, and cyber are oriented for different people, and I think you have to actively put in effort to see results, as a student, and parent. CCA has a lot of opportunities that I believe benefit the average person, low income, high income, and everyone in between. Prior to CCA I was a year behind, and Im currently working on catching up and making my future a little more bright. Thank you for listening to my blabber!!! I hope this helps any caretakers interested in the school a little more at ease, and obviously, do your own research!

I was at CCA. At first, it was exciting, but after a while, it was way too much. They said that the school was flexible, but I didn't have much time to eat. The other students all had their cameras off, even the teachers were yawning. I was on the computer for 6 hours a day, plus 2 more hours of homework. The tests often fell on the same day as others. I became exhausted. I had little time to be with friends and family because there were more tests and more assignments. Eventually, I was so overwhelmed I couldn't think anymore and had trouble doing anything. Do Not Join CCA Ever! Your kid will thank you if you don't enroll.

york,harrisburg,wilkes barre, etc! i love this school! with most of the days (m-f) being at home it is amazing, cca offers a bunch of differet flexibilty for families, and has over 900 field trips a month! i definaty reccomend it!

My child.went.to this school, It took some getting used to because they say they will help but no one I mean no one responds back ever .
Also the Gentleman in charge is pompous, arrogant and doesn't have time for the parents , due to he has a good thing raking in the cash.
I would not re omend this school infact I recommend calling hour local senator to ban these schools.
My child did not get good education, my child was never included, maybe there is a reason. For.this ,maybe we were not the right people, or income level.
All this aside ,if they would just communicate ,pretend they care, call Hou back, make an effort. I'd have a different opinion!

I had really high hopes for this school. Unfortunately, they target some families. I was constantly harassed, talked down to, and intimidated by a certain staff member. This person lied and filed a false report to state services. Despite being told you could work at your own pace, that is, in fact, false. This is true for some, and not for others. I would never recommend this school to anyone, not even my worse enemy.

We recently signed up for CCA and our official enrollment date was October 3, 2024 and I can tell you it has been the best choice for schooling for my third grader. He loves going to school he loves interacting with the teachers and the other classmates, CCA also offers many many many field trips and lots of different clubs even for a third grader we have been on five physical field trips and four virtual field trips in less than two months. The way the teachers are able to interact with every student is phenomenal. My child also has an IEP and they made sure that they followed his IEP from his brick and mortar school to the CCA charter school as best as possible. They set them up with two small group meetings and 2 one on one meetings. Overall, we love CCA. They provided all the supplies that we would need to be successful all the equipment, the laptop, the monitors, the printers everything they sent for free for us all the school supplies that my son would need throughout the school year. And one of the best parts of CCA is that you can either do the classes as if you were in a physical school per their schedule or you can do it on your own or you can do a little bit of both. We do a little bit of both because my son is school ready in the morning but not so much in the afternoon so hell do a few classes in the morning. Take a break Have lunch and then if he doesnt go back to school, we will do it on our own, which can be very hands-on but its your choice on whether you do it with the classes and the teachers or if you do it fully on your own.

I pulled my kids from their B&M Jan 2024 and enrolled them with CCA for many reason. Our homeschool district failed my children. CCA has given us the flexibility to personalized their curriculum bc of their IEPs. CCAs has an online curriculum that you can work asynchronized or with a team of teacher in guided lessons. CCA also has a ton of opportunities for socialization especially with their field trips which my kids love! I am so grateful that we picked CCA. I trusted my gut and my kids found their spark again. This was what our family needed.

CCA its just an amazing school. I Have A Senior & 9th Grade & Kindergarter. Ive been with them five years and have not had a problem with them. They are even helping my senior graduate this summer because of our Sharon school messing everything up and not giving her enough credits so shes in credit recovery program and trust when I say they will help and do whatever they can to make you and your child happy theyre not like the schools around Sharon Pennsylvania. and since Ive been with this goal, Ive recommended so many families and they love it also. And Ive never gotten negative feedback about this school from friends and family that go to it and myself. Commonwealth Charter Academy is the best cyber School in Pennsylvania in my opinion.

After explaining to CCA that me and my daughter live with mom and dad . CCA then asked me to violate my parents privacy and personal documents by having me ask for their drivers license car insurance papers light bill and wifi bill. As well as immunization record when the child will never be physically in any classroom. Too many useless rules that make no sense and make many people feel very uncomfortable. I therefore give them a Negative Review.

I am a 16 year old student at CCA. Fun fact, I'm writing this on the tacky school computer they shipped out along with supplies and books we barely use (useless storage in my room). I'm gonna be completely honest with you parents, DO NOT and I can't stress this enough DO NOT enroll your children into this school. The support is minimal they just expect you to be on top of your work everyday and if you aren't you'll get emails regarding the fact that your child is "missing work". I'm writing this review as a student so everything I say is coming from the eyes of someone enrolled in CCA. They expect you to complete assignments daily & if you don't the work will be considered "overdue" the next morning. You can't really work at your own pace, AND THE GRADING SYSTEM IS SO TERRIBLE. In my English class at the moment my grade is a (D) 60%, one singular F brought me down to a 60%.... But everyday I get mostly A's.. and the F to A ratio in my English gradebook is insane, I have so many A's... Using their logic, shouldn't one A grade bring me up to at least a B or even a A?

This brings me to the topic about how they barely grade anything. As I stated before "everyday I mostly get A's", it's like that for every class. Even the ones I'm failing which are Biology and English, so you would expect your grades to grow drastically... right?
No, they don't. I direct message teachers through Edio (the system that CCA operates from) about my grades and have already scheduled two meetings to speak about my grades.
I work day and night, only for grades not to be put in? Like, the teachers are online but.. don't grade my work. Cmon, its a online school YOU'RE SUPPOSED TO BE ON TOP OF YOUR WORK AS A TEACHER, they literally make you feel as if your a failure. My mom thinks it's me that's failing, NO. They're failing me as a student. It's not right in any way.

My classmates never have their camera on & if they do they look rather bored and tired, they teach us stuff we already know so it's not like your child is gonna be learning anything. Overall, students are so uninterested in this program and it shows. I hope I go back to a Brick-And-Mortar school next year or maybe sooner.

I repeat, do not put your child in this school. Especially if they have mental health issues.

If you are special needs or have a part time job or in any way have problems learning or a busy life do NOT go to this school. They dont care if you work, how you learn, mental health issues they will still treat you the same as everyone else even if you need extra help. The amount of work they give you daily is insane. Pretty much if you fall behind even by a little you are screwed. It is also insanely boring. Theres nothing fun in this school at all. All teachers I had do the bare minimum and look like they dont even want to be there. Theres not a single thing to look forward to when you attend here. They WILL also harass you if you fall behind, they will call you email you message you and do whatever they can to talk to you. It almost sounds like a good thing but it isnt if anything it feels pressuring to be there.

In conclusion, too much work, bad teachers, boring atmosphere, bad for busy lives and special needs

Best online school we have used. The teachers are the most "on it" teachers I have encountered in the last 10 or so years. There's more contact from teachers, counselors, family mentors, ect. then I have experienced in any other charter school, cyber school AND public schools. Multiple, Easy ways to to get in contact with ANYONE you would need to get in contact with. They actually care about your child's education. I have yet to run across anyone who is not friendly, helpful, kind, caring, understanding and actually helps, quickly. Enrollment process is easy. I have yet to run across an enrollment specialist that was not knowledgeable, helpful, and follows through right then and there. Robert Martinez got me through the enrollment process in the fastest, easiest, kindest way. Multiple options in how students can do there schooling. Parents have access to students progress, work, all there actions or lack of. CCA is an all around GREAT choice for your child's education. They also have many outside of school activities your child can participate in. Like field trips, clubs, get together, sports, dance, prom. Not to mention the variety is more then any school. Family can also participate in some of these activities. School pictures, school id's, school stores, you name it they have it. It is honestly better then the public schools I have been involved with. In everyway. If your looking for a better choice for your child's education AND have the "in school" experience DO NOT LOOK ANY FURTHER. I don't have anything to do with CCA but a parent of child who is enrolled. I know how hard it is to find the right school, good school. That's why I feel I need to write this review. And to let anyone reading this review that it is 100% real review from a real parent whose child has participated longer then one semester. I finally found one. No negatives what soever.

My daughter is on the Autism Spectrum and when she started at CCA, she struggled with fine motor skills and sensory input. It made it so hard for her to even write her name. She is now consistently writing not just her name but full sentences as well. My daughter has an amazing team of teachers who work hard to make sure her needs are met. I am in constant communication with them. CCA has advocated for my daughter to get any of the services she needs and is so supportive of any accomplishments she has. This school is amazing.

Honestly this school, when I attended, was terrible. There was no engagement and very little curriculum to follow making it feel like I wasnt even in school and barely learned a thing. That proved true in college. Now that its been 12 years since Ive graduated, I cant even get a replacement diploma for a new employer. All I was offered were transcripts via email that were not sent after I said yes in hopes that they would help. Then I was told 4-6 weeks for a physical copy. This could have been resolved with a small fee and instant email transfer with a copy of my diploma. Great school. Teach you nothing and continue to set you up for failure.

Worse On line School If you kids that have IEP, Special Education please do not put your child in this school, There need more races of teachers & staff, The material they send you, some of them causes cancer, There are 50 kids in Special Education Classes for Math, English Language Arts, they are not equipped to handle kids that are in Special Education at all. Get you a Special Education Lawyer I did, my daughter went here for 4 yes, They refuse to pay for her 2 go 2 a Special Education School that she needs, Even her teacher said there is so much I can do over the computer. Parents please get a copy of all your kids records from here & any other school & read it. I meet so many parents & they took There kids out of this school. My daughter is going 2 a private school that me her Mom has to pay for.

CCA has been amy for my family. My son is in 2nd grade has a speech IEP. With our local school district it was hard to get the to implement his IEP. Our first month with CCA we had a IEP meeting an new IEP and goals. He has come along way in his school. Just finished the marking period with distinguished Honors. The commutation with the school has been everything I have wanted. The teacher are so great they are there if the student is struggling. They really do personalize the education each students gets. I could be more happier with my decision to go to CCA.

There are good parts and bad parts about this school. When corona hit and everybody was virtual at the beginning of the year, I was struggling and had work backed up. In December my parents put me in CCA because she had heard good things about it. I was really struggling with math at the time so I thought that I would be able to catch up and learn some more. Well when I went in not knowing anything about Math that really hit hard. You dont really learn anything from the live classrooms and the meetings that you can make only help with one or two lessons. I found it really hard to catch up because they only gave you one day for homework and tests. It would be a good school for someone who is self paced and can do stuff but for someone trying to learn more if they are struggling it isn't good. Its a decent program but a lot of things could be changed.

We have loved our experience with CCA. The teachers have been kind and caring and helpful. The staff obviously cares about the child's future and not just a test score. There is not a push that all students must attend college, there are many different ways of being successful. It is hard work for parents to oversee their students school work during the day particularly if they have multiple students and the parent access to the lessons and planning is minimal.

My daughter was bullied when she attended a brick and mortar school, the bullying was kind of dealt with, at CCA they don't tolerate it at all. They have rules set and they actually stick to them, unlike my daughter at her other school.

The principal doesn't return calls or emails. The teachers doesn't like when student go ahead of the curriculum. They don't tell you how to complete work until after you've done it, because beforehand they tell you to wait with the class. I keep hearing from one teacher that she can't help me, that's how the school is. Some school. I have students that are pressured for no reason.

Fact is cyberschool is homeschooling with support. If you go into it expecting to not be involved or expecting teachers to do all of the work, you're going to have a bad time. This is homeschooling, not recreating public school at home,and it won't work for everyone. The testing scores this website uses to give out their scores are meaningless. Especially for cyberschools, who gave high rates of families who opt out of testing. Because learning is the focus, not memorizing data to regurgitate onto a scantron paper.

Love this school. This will be our third year. For us, there were no changes noticeable after separating from Connections other than quicker responses and shipment of materials. I understand my role as Learning Coach. My children do well with this type of learning environment.

Education is not one size fits all. School choice is important. Cyberschools like CCA flourish and are needed. Regular schools repeatedly fail our children and PA homeschooling laws are a pain. CCA is a great middle ground.

After spending 5+ years with CCA (before it went 'on it's own') I had no issues. Now that they have 'branched out' into an 'independent' school, this past year has been ridiculously pathetic for both of my students. Teachers unavailable and/or not helpful and disrespectful - IEP meetings not being set until the LAST week of school - having an ex-spouse on a child's account that has NO rights to be there whatsoever. It is very disappointing because the school used to be great.

I love this school. I learned very well and got great grades. I couldn't have been any happier. It worked very well around my schedual. I was able to work at my own pace. If I needed any help I was able to reach out to my teachers! My teacher were very nice and always helpful.

No. These are the students that get pushed farther and farther back until it is too late. My experience is the LS teachers do not write the goals, the psychologist does. If you don't work with the student how can you create goals for progress. IEP are a legal document, but used as a paper weight.

This is a for profit school. Not impressed with the new "Flip Classroom Model" of teaching in this High School. One hour a week instruction per subject is not a school that educates for success. Very disappointed that the teacher cant even teach a student , they read verbatim from a program book for class instruction. The mono tone read aloud teaching confuses the students and so the students answer to the un-aligned content creates failing grades. But they do require a google account to access tests, pre recorded textbook chapters and recorded live lessons at this school. They over test the students in for the preparation of the PSSA and Keystone rather than trust that what they are teaching will be good enough.. What a waste of time, education and money. find another school. Do not ask for help from the teacher, call administration direct as they control what the teacher will say and what they can do. not a racist thing this is across the board.

Commonwealth Charter Academy isn't a school that would help students succeed. The teachers fail the students in EVERYTHING!!! I've talked with many parents and they agree that their children have failing grades since they were enrolled here. I think they mainly fail the African-American children. They do have hidden racism.

Most know standardised test scores mean absolutely nothing in terms of whether or not a school is good. Especially a cyber school, which often has not only many families who opt out but also students who struggle with such tests and whom the public schools have failed.

Anyway, this is our first year with CCA. My oldest daughter is in kindergarten. She loves her school. Her teacher is absolutely wonderful and always available anytime we need her. The curriculum the school provides is far better than anything taught locally...and on top of great staff, top notch curriculum, free supplies, free computer and printer, etc...there are also many clubs, field trips, and resources available. Even for kindergarteners! Definitely the best choice in PA for cyber school.

While I only have a few months experience with the school, thus far I am pleased. It is the perfect mixture of homeschool and public school with lots of flexibility and support.

My middle daughter will start kindergarten fall of 2016. My youngest fall of 2017. I look forward to all the learning and new experiences ahead. Hopefully, we will be with CCA to the very end when they all graduate in 2028, 2029, and 2030. :)

In 2nd grade, My son was a struggling reader. After the local public school would only offer 40 minutes out of the week for additional help, we began looking for alternatives. We decided to give CCA a try. They sent professionals into our home for testing, uncovered my son's dyslexia and offer him DAILY 1:1 support from a Specialized Learning Support teacher. He is now in 6th grade. He has achieved Honor Roll for the last 2 years in each marking period. I would say they have served and will continue to serve my son well.

I love CCA for there flexibility. Education is very important to me and my husband and I love the fact of having control over my son's education. He was in public school but it wasn't working out at all! He was falling behind and wasn't learning anything at all so I decided to try CCA. My son is now going into 3 rd grade and we have now been with CCA for going on 2.5 years and I love them and so does my son! The teachers are fantastic and they really care. CCA Rocks!!

My child attended for 3 years from 4th through 7th. This cyber school offers an excellent curriculum, clubs, and a phenomenal field trip program. The teachers were all excellent with the same credentials and certifications as with other schools. I had to remove my child, because he wasn't as self-motivated to get lessons completed. The stars that Great Schools give based on state assessments really mean nothing, because ALL CYBER schools are NOT evaluated the same way as traditional brick and mortar schools, despite the fact that cyber schools receive the bulk of students in challenging situations, including special needs students, homeless, and behavioral. There are a plethora of reasons why parents may decide to "cyber school" their students, and in my case, it was due to the freedom and flexibility I needed to deal with my child's asthma, as well as his many extracurricular activities in sports and music. I love that as parents, other unique, private style schools are available to us, paid by our tax dollars.

I love CCA. I had my daughter in the K12 system with a different cyber school for K and 1st grade but in 1st grade I got no help. So I did my research again and found CCA was a great fit. She had to repeat 1st grade though but made honor roll for the first time. The teacher calls every two weeks which I love. Now I'm going to be enrolling my 5 y.o. son in CCA for the fall. I also learn with her. She is very stubborn, but I can make changes to her lesson plan(frequency of subjects during the week) to accommodate my schedule.

We love it! We chose connections academy because we knew we would be relocating during the school year. We did not want to have to pull our daughter out of school, or pay a huge amount in private school tuition and put ourselves in a financial bind. Our public school district did not provide the type of enviroment we wanted our child to be in. With CCA , the only thing our daughter misses out on is the bus ride to and from school. She has made honor roll her first marking period of the first year of school. She still experiences things like show in tell, pajama day, field trips and making new friends. The best part is...we have learned a lot about each other in the first couple weeks. Like how to work together and understand each other. This has been and amazing experience thus far.

This year has been terrible. Its my 3rd year here. My son's first year in high school. Teachers wont answer emails or return phone calls. Just feel so out of this link. Truly thinking about going back to high school. Least my son can get the help needed in the school and not left to wait by the phone or email and let lessons pile up behind him.

My school is CCA and we absolutely love it!! I have 2 children attending this school. One in highschool and the other in 5th grade. The teachers are wonderful here. They take the time to reach out and go over everything. Response time is super fast. Everything from receiving our materials to logging in daily has been smooth. Technical support is also wonderful. The classes and flexibility are outstanding. I highly recommend CCA.

Additionally, Connections Academy is one of the only schools I know in my district that offer a great variety of electives to children in middle school. I am SO glad we found CCA! My son is a busy boy so attending a brick and mortar school was a very bad experience for him! So after alot of though and consideration I researched cyber schools. CCA stood out against all of the other cyber schools to me, because they offer so much, electives to even elementary and clubs galore! I felt overwhelmed at first but CCA called to check on me thru the whole process! I wasnt ever alone at all! My family mentor is wonderful, she called to check on us numerous times and answered all of my questions! My son's teacher is absolutely AMAZING!! She keeps the kids engaged during Live Lesson and all her students love her! I know that if we ever have any questions not only can I call the 1800 number but I can call my family mentor, my sons teacher, the principal, other parents,,,,etc and the list goes on! My son is thriving in CCA! My middle daughter stareted 2 weeks ago and loves it.....no longer having to deal with bullying is amazing, more relaxed for sure! My oldest daughter decided to join as well so I am in the process of her enrollment now. This was definetely the best choice for my kids! I would HIGHLY recommend CCA!!

I have been a member of Commonwealth Connections Academy for one full school year and just started first grade this year. All of the teachers are very helpful and the curriculum and lesson books are easy to follow. They have plenty of opportunities for socialization and educational field trips each month. They sent all supplies including a laptop and printer/scanner. My son is getting smarter and smarter everyday and gets excited to see what lessons he has each morning. I am glad I chose CCA.

We signed up with Connections Academy and sent in all of the required documents and paperwork and we were never contacted by them once by email or phone! I made numerous phone calls and got transferred to alot of different departments but no one there at the call center was willing to help, they just kept sending me to someone different and nobody there had any competence. Finally after 3 weeks, we were fed up with them and decided to sign up with K12 instead and by the next business day we were contacted by the teacher who was anxious to get the ball rolling! Since we are in Utah, we got redirected to the Utah school that deals with k12 and it has been great so far. I regret not choosing k12 from the beginning because we wasted alot of time trying to get started with connections academy! They made her 2 wks late starting school. We are going onto the 4th wk and we still haven't been contacted by them! It seems as though they don't want to have any students! They should be the ones harassing us about getting her started, not the other way around. It makes no sense at all! Very bad stressful experience!

CCA has provided a wonderful experience for my 6th grader, who will be entering his third year with the school. We both have enjoyed the opportunities CCA has given us to work together. My son loves that he can focus on his work, without distractions as well he loves all the field trips!!! When I asked him what he likes about CCA he said: "It's just a great school" As a parent, I like the flexibility and that his teachers are so available to us. I'm a student here at CCA and I love it here. I love that I can change my schedule to what fits my needs and I can contact my teacher and/or parent for help. I also like that I can move at my own pace as far as schoolwork goes. For both my years here, most of the teachers reply (via by webmail or phone) very quickly. The only problem I've had here at CCA at all is that I don't find any friends who live near by me but I still talk to many other students still. As a A - B grade student, I find the learning content still challenging unlike what was in non-digital schools. I have to give this school 5 stars. --8th Grader

We completed our 2nd year with CCA. We are moving out of state & my children have requested to stay with CA. They love the teachers, flexibility, working at their own pace in their own learning style, & no distractions. 2 posts on here that disturb me-1 from Dec 2013 & 1 from April 2014. Dec one, the student obviously misses someone he/she loves from brick and mortar and wouldn't be happy unless he/she was with this person. The April post is negative-then why would you keep your child/children in a school for 5 years? As far as overdo lessons, if the lesson isn't completed the day it is scheduled, it becomes overdo, BUT the LC can rerun the scheduler & the overdo lesson would no longer be overdo. Learning Coach needs to take an ACTIVE role in the student's education so students would be learning and content! Field trips aren't the only way to meet other families-LL, webmail, phone conversations are also options. We have NEVER had a teacher not respond to us within 24 hours-usually it is an immediate response! There isn't a reason a student should not succeed at CCA because all the resources including one on one tutoring are available to every student and Learning Coach!

This is our third year and I have to say that CCA is real asset to a parent's tool box when it comes to education for their children. Our family holds strong foundations in family values and dedicated learning. We have found that CCA is all of the quality and more of a private school (materials, books, references curriculum, and options for electives) with all of the freedoms of home schooling (focus, flexibility, time management, and self determined pace) and absolutely NONE of the negative impacts or influences from public schools (lack of materials, social distractions, negative attitudes, lack of teacher availability and so on). The only detracting feature that we have seen with cyber academies in general - is that too many parents use cyber schools as way of dealing with problem parents or problem children and not problem schools. I would have to say that is the main reason none of these schools rate well by review sites like this one.

I LOVE THIS SCHOOL! I have had 3 children in the Public School system and the teachers were busy trying to control their room or either uninterested in the students. I was so glad to find CCA. My daughter has been enrolled since Kindergarten, she has been on honor roll since. She is going to 3rd grade in September with CCA. We don't have to compete with other kids, nor worry about violence. She can work at her pace which is rapid since she doesn't have to wait for 30 other kids to understand. Her teachers provide plenty of resources, but I always add more. She has teachers, nurses, counselors, art, music and more. I get immediate feedback from teacher and staff. I can get immediate response from the principal and the CEO when emailed. PLEASE GIVE CCA A CHANCE. What you put into CCA is what you and your child will get back. I don't know what that disgruntled parent did or didn't do, but the lessons are different daily and challenging.

This "school" is a complete joke. The teachers are just awful and very annoying. The curriculum is poorly presented, and very vigorous. They say that you can work at your own pace, but really if you don't get everything done at the end of the day, it will become overdue the next day. Also, the work that you are expected to do in a day is just outrageous! I work all day and never get one break, and I'm still behind! They give you many unnecessary things extra to do in every class, and we are expected to do quizzes, tests, and portfolios daily. It's way too much work to have to do in a day. The teachers are a joke, too. Half of my teachers never call me once the entire semester. Good luck trying to call them! They hardly ever write back to webmails either. All of the field trips they do are too far away to be able to meet kids. I hate everything about this school. You just sit at a computer for 90 percent of the day and night. It gets very boring after awhile. The lessons are also very repetitive, and very boring also. Each and every lesson is almost exactly the same. You watch several videos and answers questions and read some articles. Please do not come to CCA, you will regret it

I have used this program, as a student, for this school year only. I will admit, I do like getting more free time after my work is done, but that isn't enough to prevent me from not going back to my local "brick-and-mortar" school. The CCA curriculum is very lacking and leaves little room to speak out on issues or be creative in answers. The teachers aren't the most helpful and usually do not return calls; not to mention, they can be extremely annoying at times. LiveLessons are a joke; I have learned nothing from them. My grades didn't improve much from last year at all. I will be returning to my local public school next year. At least if I go there I can make a difference in my community and can be reunited with someone who I loved fiercely, as well as other friends. I would only enroll in this if your kids have been bullied (why I joined; looking back, I just needed a year to myself) or if you strongly dislike a school environment for them (too distracting, doesn't support your lifestyle, ect.)

I have used this school for the past 5 years. The curriculum is hoppy, poorly organized, with gaps in difficulty. I had to supplement lessons.You really can't work at your student's pace either. If you need extra time on concepts that are more difficult, it will put you behind and the school will harass you to complete lessons faster. There isn't a lot of support for struggling students. Teachers can be a hit or miss. I've had 2 wonderful teachers and the rest were ignorant and insensitive to our needs. I've witnessed teachers give incorrect answers in online lessons or overlook incorrect answers. They spew out answers instead of explaining them when students struggle. I've had teachers ignore emails when I've asked for additional help. y kids are smart and hard-workers but this mixture of poor curriculum and lack of support really set my kids up for failure. I thought my kids had learning disabilities, but then I saw how many other kids were struggling. Their PSSA scores prove that this is a school wide problem, not individual kids. We put forth the effort. Five hours per kid, five days a week. We were doing schoolwork morning until night. In the end, it was a huge mistake.

Many of the teachers are unhelpful. The curriculum is horrendous. Good luck trying to figure out math. The language courses are also severely lacking. CCA offers little to no flexibility for high school students; if you are interested in pursuing extracurricular activities or a part time job I would recommend finding another option.

We love CCA! Been with this school now for 3 years and my daughter is doing fantastic. She went to our local public school in kindergarten but we were unhappy with the teachers there and the bulling problem my daughter had that went unresolved. The teachers with CCA are very invested in your child and work with you to find a flexible schedule that works for everyone.

This is our third year at CCA, and our fourth grader loves it. With any school, you get out what you put in. Having involved parents is one reason we enrolled at CCA. The curriculum is set, but we set the pace and expectations. We add in extra learning activities and give as much or as little support that our student. We've had very supportive teachers that have encouraged our student to thrive. She's becoming an independent thinker, not just a student drone.

I would give Commonwealth Connections Academy a hundred stars if I could. We have been with them for 9 years and love all things about it. My children are learning what they need to learn. They do not have to stay on the same schedule as 30 plus (often disruptive) classmates in a room. The staff respond promptly with great suggestions to help my students achieve. There are so many educational field trips that offer lots of socialization with their peers. The live lessons are fun,engaging and educational! If you are considering cyber school you should give CCA a try,we tried another one and it was not a good experience. CCA has a great staff,curriculum and tech support . The enrollment process and the orientation are easy to navigate and if you have problems they are so friendly when you call. A parent or learning coach message board is full of great advice.

My daughter was having a horrible time in regular school. She has orthopedic disabilities and needs extra help in getting around and using the bathroom. All of which the regular school system complained about. She was always being injured at school and ignored. CCA allows us a flexible schedule, a fantastic curriculum while still addressing her therapy needs and IEP! I can't say enough good things about CCA. I have control of how my daughter learns and what she learns. It's great not having my child come home from school with nonsense in her head saying "but the teacher said".

We are starting our 2nd year with Commonwealth Connections Academy(CCA) & I am loving it. We have the flexibility of doing school work around our schedule and joining in on all the field trips CCA plans. We also use a local homeschool co-op to get even more socializing and educational activities. CCA even had some great summer opportunities. My son participated in the engineering 1 day course they offered at one of their 2 harrisburg locations. The only program I was not fully impressed with was the Spanish program, which I felt had to much focus on the country and not the language. But CCA gives you the ability to voice you opinions on this. I have a better working communication with my sons teachers through CCA than I did at our B&M middle school, where all the teachers acted like you were inconveniencing them. The teachers have been so helpful in guiding us and making sure we get the most out of our sons schooling. And best of all CCA has a national connections academy that we can supplement some other classes into his schooling, we fully plan to use the National program this coming summer to get more classes in, while my son is still in high school.

Commonwealth Connections Academy (CCA) provides innovative learning in a way my child can easily understand from the comfort and safety of our own home. This is an important benefit for my son who was previously physically bullied at a brick and mortar public school. He has transformed from a reserved, anxious child who hated school into a competent, outgoing, student who enjoys learning again. He often tells anyone who will listen that what he likes best about his school is that he finally found a place where he is accepted just as he is. CCA's dedicated teachers and staff have made all the difference. Their encouragement helps children focus on their strengths while improving upon their weaknesses in a positive manner. The Special Education staff have gone above and beyond my expectations every time as well. They constantly think of new technologies, tools, and tips to implement. Everyone always asks me to name one quality where CCA isn't making the grade. However, I truthfully cannot list any negative aspects about the education and services my child is receiving and has been receiving for the past few years through Commonwealth Connections Academy.

We had five cyber schools to choose from and we narrowed it down to picking Commonwealth Connections Academy because of the impressive listings of colleges and universities that other students have continued on too. We are excited and impressed on the way the teachers are so helpful. Commonwealth Connections Academy has helped my son to be the best student he can be. The teachers have inspired, challenged, and encouraged him. We have been able to go to some awesome educational field trips which have provided my son with some hands-on learning experiences that he would have never had the opportunity to have in any other school. Some of the trips have included career exploration. CCA has encouraged my son's love of learning and that is what a good school is all about!

CCA is a cyber/blended learning school. My son attended a brick and mortar school for the first 5 years, K-4. Bullying and being smarted than his teachers would give him credit for made those years rough for him, together with depression and his ADD the brick and mortar school was a bad combination. CCA was a Godsend to our family. He was tested and placed in the Gifted and Talented program and accelerated receiving high marks in all his classes. CCA allows him to learn at his pace and not to be held back waiting for other students to get the ideas that the teachers are instilling in them. There are field trips for every county, a mobile classroom (bus that has been retrofitted) that travels the state for different labs the students do, clubs and activities, Science fairs, competitions in Science, Robots, Geography, Spelling, and Math; CCA has so many different social and academic pursuits for every child's interest. It allows for the flexibility of extracurricular activities or competitions that students do such as; Swimming, Ice Skating, Acting, Singing, Ice Hockey, and Horseback Riding; by giving the student the opportunity to do their school work around their other pursuits.

Commonwealth Connections Academy has been a great fit for us. We have two children enrolled and enjoy the flexibility the cyber school offers. Each student has their own teacher who contacts them regularly and teaches them in a Live Lesson classroom with other students. They also get to meet other CCA students on field trips throughout the state. Both of my kids test very well in the PSSA's.

Choosing CCA was the best decision I could have made for my childrens' education. The curriculum is challenging enough to keep my kids interested and we can add our own activities as needed. The teachers and other staff at CCA are very helpful and friendly. I only have one child enrolled right now, but plan to enroll all 5 when it comes time. Great school, great staff, great education for the future of our children.

CCA is a fantastic school because it allows you to personalize your children's education. The school's approach is to meet the children where they are at and to encourage them to excel. The teachers take an active approach in each students success. I believe that CCA works to create successful individuals by encouraging students to pursue what interests them through vocational and other academies. Their gifted and special needs programs also help facilitate growth in all students of all abilities.

Connections is a awesome because it has a very organized way to provide the students curriculum without overwhelming the parents. I am glad I went this route of homeschooling instead of the brick and mortar schools in Philadelphia. I know that here my children will succeed!!!

Commonwealth Connections Academy is by far the best virtual cyber charter school I have come across yet. The curriculum they provide is outstanding. They also provide top notch materials to execute the lessons with. Finally, and most importantly they cater to all kids and all different learning styles. They provide tons of support from excellent caring teachers that connect with the kids and work to get to know them. It is great too because it seems like so many cyber charter schools pop up just for the money. But at Connections it is just not this way. All enrolled students are invited to all the field trips, 99% of them being at no cost to the parent or student! They provide additional funding for each student to enroll in independent community activities, too! Whether its a sports activity, an art class, or music classes they are always encouraging the kids to get out, get active, and have fun with other area kids. Commonwealth Connections Academy is top notch! If you are considering a cyber charter school please don't pass this one up!

I like this school because the students can have one on one with the teacher. If they have a problem all they have to do is either send a web mail or call the teacher. There are live lessons so that the children can understand what they are doing and they can also meet others in their class. The teachers call the students personally and ask them questions about what they are doing so they can make sure that they are understanding things. Sometimes the teacher asks the student to go into their live lesson room for some one on one if they are have problems. You can adjust their classes to what is best for the student. We have been with CCA for 7 years. There is no other school that I would send my son to. I also like it because I have full involvement with my sons education.

This will be our first year with Commonwealth Connections. I have cyber schooled our children for 10+ years, and decided it was time for a change. I am impressed by the information sessions for both new students, and their parents. The information was provided in a way that helped us to relax, and enjoy our time in the classroom. The teachers seem personable. The school is success-driven for every student. Here's hoping for a great new year!

So far, so good! I love this school and this way of learning for my children. My son has only attended for one semester, but he is thriving! No distractions, we're able to take breaks, and we have family time together! We are well pleased. Thank you.

We absolutely LOVE CCA! The teachers are wonderful to work with and my daughter enjoys learning from home and at her own pace. She has made wonderful friends, and we even get together outside of school. The field trips are awesome and educational. We have seen her grow and mature in her studies, which we would have missed otherwise. Thank you CCA.

We are starting our second year at CCA. The support for the parents as well as my daughter are wonderful. She has made some great new friends at this school. CCA gives us the ability to be flexible with her schooling while she pursues the performing arts. I love that when she doesn't grasp a concept we can take our time with it, not move on because the rest of the class is. Also, if she moves faster than most in another subject, she isn't getting bored. CCA has been a great school for us. Looking forward to another year.

I started CCA last year due to bulling in public school with my daughter, My six kids in grades 9, 8, 5, 5, 4, and 1st. Are loving CCA. They get to work on there own time and we can travel and do more family gathering with CCA. CCA teachers and staff are on top of everything. I had some problems with students or problems with computers and they were right there on top of it all. I also had three great teachers come to my house and meet us, that was a great new experiment. We love CCA and wouldn't change it for nothing. Having six kids in CCA is hard at the beginning but then it gets easiers after knowing the monthly planner and teachers classes. I'll be honest, we were a bit hesitant when we made the switch from the traditional brick and mortar school to CCA. Once we made the switch...we have not looked back! The teachers are great! The curriculum is excellent. They actually get through all of the material in the textbooks. The field trips are a blast! We love it! We have 2 kids enrolled...Kindergarten and 5th grades. The kids love school now...and so do mom and dad!

Outstanding education! The curriculum is challenging, yet fun. The videos and tutorials keep my child engrossed in the lessons. The teachers are amazingly friendly, supportive, accommodating and organized! Live Lessons are sociable and engaging! The school events are over the top and something great to look forward too! My Parent Mentors keeps me encouraged offering constant support! The after school tutoring offers my child exceptional learning service. Quality and flexibility!

I enrolled my daughter because of bulling and anxiety issues. The school staff have been helpful with any and all question you have. The response for the web mail is awesome! When I got my enrollment documents all in, it took 3-4 das for our supplies to come! I hoping for a great year! I know my daughter Is really excited to start learning! So far, Job well done!!!!

Last year was our first year in cyber school. I was amazed at the support my daughter received from her teachers, and how accessible they were. My daughter loved the flexibility with her daily schedule. In public school, she was bored, but with CCA, she was always challenged. I loved being a part of her learning process, and knowing exactly what she was learning. I looked into several cyber schools before choosing CCA, and they were the best I found. Switching to CCA was the best decision I ever made for my daughter.

cca is an outstanding school, my daughter has been in three different charter schools until we found this one....the final choice...the people, staff, teachers, tech support and everyone involved with cca go above and beyond....my daughters teachers were/are there beside us every step of the way....

We absolutely adore this school. It gives us so much freedom and allows our children to really thrive. It also eliminates all the downsides to a public school education. Plus, there are so many extras!! We go on many awesome, educational field trips that we definitely could not afford otherwise. We also have a great curriculum and amazing support. And, I get to see exactly what my student is doing and I can recognize an issue long before it becomes a real problem. I recommend Connections to everyone I meet! We just love it!

Commonwealth Connections Academy has given my children the opportunity to be educated without feeling pressured, distracted, and overwhelmed. They have and excellent curriculum that meets the children's needs and teachers that are very helpful and understanding. They also have educational links that children can use to help with their school work if they they need extra practice. Connections Academy offers public online education & guidance from state certified, fabulous teachers. This schooling allows my children to learn at their own pace and to enjoy hands on learning with more time for experiments and educational trips. There are so many opportunities to meet other students/friends through Live Lessons, Educational Field Trips, Social Field Trips, and Elective Classes (such as Chess Club, Robotics Club, Julliard Music Classes, Language Class, etc.). It is important to me that I know what is being taught to my children. My children are nationally ranked speed skaters and this school schedule allows them to participate in practices and speed skating meets all over the country. It also allows them to volunteer and participate in community service projects. They are getting a full education while having the opportunity to learn other life lessons at the same time. My children have been enrolled in public, private and now online schools. Connections Academy is by far their favorite...and mine too!!

I love Commonwealth Connections Academy. My son needs one on one help and doesn't do well in a classroom setting. When we enrolled in CCA I was worried that it wouldn't work. I was wrong. The teachers are amazing, and so supportive. I cried when we had to leave our beloved teacher behind. All of your equipment and books are provided, so you do not need anything. Cyber school doesn't mean your child is never around anyone else. The school provides many field trips in your area. The field trips provide a chance for a learning experience and some fun with peers.

My school is the best school of all at least in my opinion and experience it is. Four years back I had my two oldest children who were in 3rd & kindergarten at the time enrolled in the regular (Public School) & lets just say we had tons of problems. Such as not enough communication with the staff, bullies, staff who didn't respect my children's nutritional lifestyle such as being vegetarians. This is just to name a few but I can go on & on. I researched CCA first for a year before I decided to take a chance & enroll my children with this school. It was something new to us but now after 4 years & 2 more kids later I can honestly say that I made the best decision that I've made for my 4 children. You get excellent curriculum delivered to your home & to see the kids eyes light up like it was Christmas. They can't wait to explore their new curriculum's. Plus you have constant communication with the teachers/staff at CCA & additional to that they offer great field trips and prizes to kids for working so hard throughout the school year. My 3 boys are in Commonwealth Connections Academy and we love it.The school is great about having flexible schedules.Also the students can learn at their own pace and not get left behind in their subjects.The teachers are wonderful to work with.The school offers a lot of social field trips.

Works for children who are special needs or have really crazy schedules. Its not much different than brick-mortar school except the curriculum is online based. THIS IS NOT HOME SCHOOL. Its online public school!!!

Our family loves Commonwealth Connections Academy. I recommend it to everyone looking for a great cyber home school. The curriculum is at the students pace and you get routine phone calls from your childs teacher and they check to make sure your child is understanding the curriculum and tests them to see if they understand. Plus you as the parent have to approve what your child has done that day for there studies. My child is learning so much more than a regular brick and mortar school. Example my child was in 1st grade learning how to do Power Point presentations, excel, and so on.

This is a wonderful school! My son has grown so much in a year. He started way behind in subjects like reading and spelling. By the end of the year, he was where he needed to be in reading! The go at our own pace works wonderful for him. He is able to learn and grasp the materials much better when he isn't pushed through or rushed. CCA is a blessing to our family.

I absolutely love CCA. I have two students now that have attend the school. The teachers go above and beyond to help the students! We tried another cyber school in another state years ago and it was horrible (noone on the administration ) even cared if the kids did the work. I would never ever do a state based cyber school again. Connections is based out of Baltimore, MD, and growing new school states every year. Another nice thing about Connections is if you do move out of state school wise it is a very easy transition. GOOO CCA keep up the awesome work teachers! Also one of them just graduated and they had an commencemen (CEO even was a speaker), gave all the kids long stem red roses in a special casing and provided a (free)catered dinner afterwards! Who does that... CCA. Keep up the awesome work. Good luck to all 550 students graduting in the class of 2013!

Hi, I go to Connections Acacademy. I've been a student there for quite awhile and I'd like to submit an honest review from someone who has went to it. Teachers: 5/5. The teachers are extremely helpful. If people say they have no teacher-student communication that is all on them. The teachers are ALWAYS ready to help. Anti-Cheating: 4/5. There will always be cheating, in cyber schools and normal schools. Although, this school has fought cheating students very well. They get sites that have the answers on them to take them down as soon as possible, and they also kick out cheating students with no mercy. Every school has cheaters. My old public school had TONS of cheaters. The only ones they cheat are themselves, though, when they take that SAT all their true knowledge will show. Teachers also have surprise pop quiz phone calls, and if you fail it while getting good grades on everything else, you will be put on watch. They also has lots of essays to test your true knowledge. Parent Involvement: 4/5. If a parent is dedicated enough, they can keep a close eye on their child. They must approve every single lesson the child finishes. Teachers call parents to check up, also. 4.5/5

Hello, I am a student, At Commonwealth Connections Academy. All I can say to anybody considering this, it is a nightmare. I used to be a B to A student , but now it is hard for me to make a B grade let alone an A one. If that was not bad enough my relationship with my parents is declining severely. There is no communication between the teachers and students. DON'T DO THIS.

Both of my sons have been with Commonwealth Connections Academy since it's inception. My 14 year old has been with school for 9 years going on ten. My 13 year old has been with Commonwealth Connections Academy for 8 years going on 9. Both boys are special needs children. We went with CCA because of several factors: 1) It's flexibility-with doctors appointments all the time, they would be missing a lot of school if they were in a brick and mortar school. 2) They work at their own pace. They can quickly move through the subjects they excel in and take more time with the subjects they struggle with. 3) Schooling at home means I control what they learn and who they associate with. 4) I don't have to worry about people bombing or shooting up their school. 5) they get a well-rounded education. The teachers at CCA care about each of their students and work with the child so they feel good about themselves. This promotes a positive self-worth attitude and the result is a student that wants to work harder. The school offers a wide variety of classes from the remedial courses to the Honors courses. The principal/administration are hands on and always available to discuss problems.
