They don't at all care about the students. Anybody who takes a second to see that you want even post a review of that school itself on Google knows how terrible this school district is. I went to Cumberland Valley from 2014-2025 and the minute I switched to online, they wouldn't let me go to votech. They clearly care much more about their salaries than the education of the students and it is a despicable school district.

Wealthy school. Unless your child is an academic or athletic prodigy, your child will be educated in a large, impersonal college style campus. Limited communication with teachers, overwhelming class sizes. Lots of wealthy kids who cyber bully and host drug parties in mansions. If you are an average American family that has a 2 working parents, be prepared to sell your soul to the school on your free time if you want your child to have any type of opportunities. This school is the epitome of TV high schools, where the stay at home moms, or the wealthy families have the means and deeply rooted community connections to allow their child to maximize what this district provides. No one will help you or guide you unless you have an IN with the administration, the PTA, an athletic booster club, or just know the right people. Lots of racial segregation in the community. Asians stick with Asians, Caucasians stick with Caucasians and all minorities of darker color stick with them selves as well. On top of a racially divided school, within that, you have social-economical segregation where the wealthy and popular stick with each other and take all the opportunities away from the less fortunate. The school allows this to happen because the "Real housewives of CV" know what's going on all the times (even before public announcements and enrollments are available) and push their kids into these programs/extra curriculars, where as a low middle class kid doesn't have that support and ends up not being able to participate because the selections were already pre-rigged. I have 2 alumni and 2 current and I truly wish I would have chosen a smaller, socially level and educationally intimate environment for our "in the middle, average" children.

Great school even though there’s a big number of students. My kids are learning a lot.

I am an alumni and my experience was not good. There are so many students shoved into this school it is unbelievable. Not to mention twice while I was there, teachers were having inappropriate contact with students.

As a CV student I would have to say the staff is very helpful and the school board is very selective when choosing new teaches. The high school is very well maintained and it's rather easy find people like you.

Staff is very helpful. I found the counselors great. Nice facility, updated, clean. Office staff helpful, good attitudes of all teachers, staff.

CVHS has tons of opportunities for all students interested in pretty much anything. Don't have what you like? Start a club about it! Don't particularly get along with your teacher and like how they're teaching? Ask for a course swap! Overall, CVHS is a very good school. If you ignore some of the flaws, it's great.

I have attended a total of 6 public schools (2 high schools) before I graduated last year, and have lived in 4 different states. From my experience, CV was by far the best. I was on the volleyball team all 3 years I attended, participated in several art classes, was part of prom committee, and was able to explore a possible future career, architecture. They have an extensive list of course choices, with amazing teachers. My guidance counselor did everything in her power to help me to adjust to the large school, and would constantly call me in to chat. The principal we currently have is one of the most passionate women I have ever known. Like ALL high schools, there are drugs. However, I have never used drugs, had a sip of alcohol, or smoked in my life. The most important thing is to be involved in the endless programs CV offers and drugs won't be a problem. When we moved my family searched endlessly to find a great school, and I think we found the absolute best. GO EAGLES!

We chose CV when relocating to the area three years ago, after an extensive search of high schools in a 15 mile radius of my employment. We were not disappointed in any facet of my daughter's education or extracurricular endeavors and would make the same choice again, without reservation. I am sure she would agree.

My kids graduated from CV and went on to college. I am ranking the school with two stars to honor the music program, the small handful of teachers who really care and excel at their jobs, the number of course offerings/options and the opportunities to pursue AP work. Areas that needed vast improvement would have to include the math department, the business courses, foreign language and anything in the PE category. This school suffers from a good-sized contingent of teachers who suffer from anti-parent/anti-student attitudes only surpassed by an administrative group with no direction, leadership or rationale. I feel badly for the superior staffers who find themselves working alongside those that drag down the entire works. Favoritism and politicking run rampant, exacerbated if you aren't "from the island". Yes, there are some drugs...and the admins suspect everyone...but good kids are the majority, they just need adults in the system who believe in them and care enough to help them traverse their high school years. Glad to be done.

CV high school has a great facility, but the student population is out of control, over 2500 students. They need to split into 2 high schools. Too many students that get lost in the crowd, unless they are a stellar athlete....but with so many kids, good luck getting on a team! And although they are trying to control drug abuse, it is all over the school and parking lot. Last year, 5 freshman overdosed together in the school! Check the facts and don't send your kids here.

I am very disappointed with CV HS. If your child has any special needs as far as alternative ed or anything else, they do not put him or her as a priority. My son suffered for years because he got involved in drugs at a very young age. His math is seriously at a much lower level then they will admit. They tried placing him in Geometry this year and he became discouraged very quickly. Oh and did I mention drug use...that school is working on trying to control a very large substance abuse problem. I know any school has problems but this school is so large that kids are mostly a number. Kids get lost in the shuffle. I have had teachers and counselors that their hands were tied because they can't do what they need to do for these kids. If your child needs additional support, emotional, academically or any other, this is not the school for you. They say they have a handle on it but the proof is in the bag.

I have always said that Cumberland Valley High School offers a prep school education at a public school price. Everything a student needs to prepare for the best colleges in almost any degree area is available at CVHS, including many Honors and AP classes. I found teachers that are truly caring about their students, especially if they want to learn. Both of my children were accepted and are succeeding at prestigious schools in their chosen fields of Engineering for one, Art for the other. There are no "fluffy" programs; every subject is designed around the rigorous Dept. of Ed standards. The guidance department is exceptional; my daughter received substantial support there for everything from college prep procedures to help with depression. They are 100% there for the students. There are flaws at CVHS, but academics is not one of them. It appears to be common knowledge among the students that the atheletes are mysteriously exempted from the "random" drug tests during their sport season, which I find particularly appalling, but I am most concerned with my children's academic success. I'm sure socially CVHS is no different than the average high school and good luck with that.

I am so frustrated with the life skills department with this school. My son who has special needs is not learning much. They go on so many field trips, which all cost money, spend too much time on certain areas instead of teaching them job skills or independent living skills. If you have a special needs student, I would really urge you to consider what is best for your child.
