We are thrilled with our child's Pre-K experience at Mason Prep. Via
a team of exceptional educators and dedicated administrators, the
program has proven to be unique in its ability to blend together an
academically advanced curriculum with a highly nurturing environment.
We have watched our daughter learn to read, gain more confidence, and
make lasting friendships. In addition to our daughter being in this
inaugural PreK class, our son is a first grade student at Mason Prep and we are equally pleased with his experience. Most of all the kids love going to school every day!

Our kids are in pre-k and kindergarten at Mason Prep and they are thriving! They are so excited to go to school each morning and we feel comfortable sending them knowing they will be safe, loved, and challenged. One of the things we love most about MPS is how they foster the whole child. Because of the small class sizes and the great student-teacher ratio, they are able to get their individual needs met academically, socially and emotionally. We have been very pleased with the Social Emotional Learning curriculum and all of the special areas. Innovation and Design is our son's favorite! Before coming to MPS, we were told how it's a special place. Those words couldn't be more true! It has a family feel with lots of fun events throughout the year. We love being so involved in our children's education. The last thing we'll note is how wonderful the staff is. They are top-notch teachers who really care for our kids and push them to be the best version of themselves. Our kids are learning at such a fast pace and we feel confident they will be prepared for high school and beyond. We couldn't recommend Mason Prep enough and we feel very lucky to be a part of the MPS community.

Ive been a Mason Prep parent of two for six years now. Both of my children are extremely happy on a daily basis and learning on a level I didnt know possible. They are in 2nd and 5th grade and go to school every day excited to learn with their friends and with a thirst for knowledge. The teachers and staff are loving and really take the time to get to know each and every student and their family to better guide each child individually throughout their school year. Kindness is a big deal at Mason Prep and it is promoted and rewarded daily. All families are highly involved in school activities, field trips,
volunteering, and pitching in where they can. This makes for an extremely special environment that allows the children and the school to grow and thrive. This school is creating amazing young people and I wouldnt want my children anywhere else!

This school has gone downhill. Poor leadership, favoritism, and antiquated teacher centered classrooms. Toxic environment, many students see no consequences for their actions. Mental health support is a joke.

Even though students don't like homework, working at home especially on longer term assignments, teaches the self-discipline that they will need to be successful in college. Mason Preparatory assigns homework, for the most part, based on its benefits to the student's academic growth. This growth is necessary for future success.

Teachers are hired knowing the mission of the school and the high standards that they will be held to in creating a nurturing yet rigorous environment. They do excellent work knowing that their colleagues and the student's parents are counting on them! Kindness and respect are stressed at every level. Excellent! I have had such a positive experience at MP and find the quality of education and smaller family vibe to be conducive to building responsible, self motivated, smart children. The teachers here genuinely care about the kids, and our kids love going to school! The families are very involved and its just a happy place to be!

Mason Prep teachers go above and beyond for their students. The low student-teacher ratios allow the teachers to really get to know each child and offer individualized instruction. The teachers are absolutely phenomenal and treat each child as if he/she were their own. They truly get to know each child as a person and also make themselves available before and after school for extra help sessions.

The Mason Prep Pledge is not only something that the students all recite each week, but it's something that they live by. The core values of respect and kindness permeate all that the school does. Children and staff alike can be awarded "Knight of the Day" for doing kind acts and there is a big focus on being a "Nice Knight" and treating others as you would like to be treated.

The leadership at Mason Prep couldn't be stronger or fairer. All decisions are clearly made with the students' best interests at heart. Communication from school leaders is clear and Erik (Head of School) and Roseann (Assistant Head) are very approachable. Their interest and investment in each child is apparent from their friendly individual greetings each morning in the carpool line and the fact that either Erik or Roseann personally reads and comments on every single progress report and report card that goes home.

All three of my children have attended Mason Prep. Over the course of my 17 consecutive years at Mason Prep, Ive been pleased with the academics and sense of citizenship my children have learned. Each child has had a different learning style that the teachers have all adjusted to. My children have been inspired to learn and succeed. My oldest graduated from college last year cum laude (on scholarship) and is preparing to enter law school. My middle child is a junior in college and is on the deans list AGAIN. My youngest, 7th grade, is thriving academically and socially. The educational foundation that Mason Prep has given each of my children has proven itself to be a sound financial investment in their futures. I couldnt be more pleased with Mason Prep.

Mason prep balances academic rigor with social and emotional development so that students are challenged to think critically and creatively as well as foster the skills necessary to collaborate, communicate, and solve real-life problems. I can imagine a better preparation for high school and beyond.

This school has not progressed, the teaching methods are similar to those used in the 1950's. The majority of the work are worksheets. The teachers assign a lot of projects that are to be completed at home. The parents end up teaching the children the basics that should have been taught by the "professionals". Some of the completed projects are typically way above grade level and show the parents complete more of the projects than the kids. We the parents have completed elementary and middle school and want our children to learn these basics.

There are a handful of exemplary teachers at this school. All of the teachers are very nice but they do not prepare children for the upper school. The lower school does not offer consistent history and writing programs between teachers or grade levels.

This school claims to focus on character education. They actually only promote bulling and rudeness. A child is awarded the "Nice Knight" award for being less of a bully for the quarter.

This school has no leadership. All of the critical decisions are decided by survey's to parents. The school has had many issues that are swept under the rug especially if your parents work at the school. The leadership also lies about these issues. The other issue is nepotism. The head and his assistant both have family members that work for them directly or indirectly and the leaders hide issues or advance these teachers at the school. This is very unprofessional and would not be acceptable in any professional setting.

All students are expected to learn at the same pace. Although the teacher they have that works with children with learning difficulties is very effective. Many of the smart kids that act out because they are bored because the work is too easy are labeled as problem children.

My experience at this school was not good and would recommend parents look at many of the other options in the area. As a parent I felt as I had been fleeced for the money I spent to have my child attend this school. Miss Mason may have created a great school but that lack of leadership, nepotism and outdated teaching methods have ruined the school.

All four of our children attend Mason Prep in grades first, fifth and seventh. We chose Mason Prep for its strong academics and nurturing environment. All of the teachers are wonderful. We truly appreciate the individual, caring attention they give to each of our children, focusing on their strengths and helping them overcome their weaknesses. We love that the teachers at Mason Prep know when to give the children close guidance and when to give them more responsibility and freedom. Our children know that learning can be fun! The schools smaller size means that the Head of School, teachers and every other member of the staff know each of our children well. We feel blessed that our children attend Mason Prep and would recommend it whole-heartedly.

Mason Prep has truly educated and shaped my children's character in ways for which I could not be more grateful. The academics are challenging and foster critical thinking but the development of good citizenship and character is not forfeited. There are so many reasons why we love Mason Prep. You walk in the front door and the "warmth" is palpable. Our kids come home happy in the afternoon and eager to tell us about their day. Two of my three children attend Mason Prep (third one will soon), and I honestly could not be happier with our experience.

The teachers and administration are so caring and engaged with not only the students but also with the parents. The teachers understand the needs/strengths/weaknesses of each child and work hard to maximize each child's potential in a non-stressful way that would otherwise make the kids lose confidence. At the same time, they let the kids make mistakes and do not shelter them from occasional let-downs and failures.

In short, the school produces well-rounded and well-educated kids that are prepared for the next level.

I can honestly recommend the school without hesitation. It feels like family.

Mason Prep is academically strong and prepares students extremely well for high school and beyond (consistent feedback from area high schools confirm this year after year) . The teachers and staff know each student individually and parent input is valued greatly. Beyond the academics, the children are nurtured and cared for by the school community and service and good citizenship is emphasized. We did our homework in searching for the best school for our children and we are more than happy that we chose Mason Prep!

Most of Mason Prep's teachers are above and beyond what you could ever hope for in any school. The family-style, nurturing environment is unmatched in any school across the Lowcountry. Students are well prepared for high school with the exception of one subject - Science. Until the 7th and 8th grade Science program begins to improve, Mason Prep students will suffer as they attempt to excel in high school. Instead of testing on "critical thinking skills," the science teacher needs to test on science knowledge so that these children will be prepared for high school science. MPS students are not prepared for advanced high school science. Hopefully, administration will understand the importance of proper teaching and testing, and insist on improvements in this area. Otherwise, this school is unsurpassed in every other subject!

Mason Prep School (MPS) offers an exceptional learning environment for boys and girls. The headmaster (Mr. Kreutner) is outstanding and the education is second to none. The school does an excellent job of promoting self confidence and teamwork within and across the grades. I absolutely recommend Mason Prep both as an alumna and a parent of a first and third grader. Miss. Mason founded the school based on important fundamentals, such as: a democratic structure in which students elect a 'city council', an overall excellent standard of education, the importance of volunteerism, the power in working together and a well rounded curriculum . Students from day one are greeted by name. Teachers reward good deeds, behavior and skills via 'The Nice Knight', 'King of the Day' and special recognition during assembly. Older students are paired with younger students as 'pen pals'. Miss. Mason knew the importance and power of good manners and a hand-written note. Most of the staff have advanced degrees and have been with the school for many years. They go above and beyond to encourage and motivate each student. 7th and 8th graders learn how to volunteer. Parents are highly encouraged to participate and the PTO runs like a small business. If you like the feel of a small, nurturing, welcoming school that will fully prepare your child academically, emotionally and socially...Mason Prep delivers value and results.

As a parent of a Mason Prep graduate, I can't say enough about this school. The teachers are excellent, committed and dedicated. Many have been there for more than 10 years: this speaks volumes. It is a rigorous academic setting with attention to the most important fundamentals of education, good citizenship and leadership. Each grade-level teacher works diligently to prepare each child for the next grade to follow. As a result, the students are incredibly well prepared as they move upward and into high school and life outside of Mason Prep's walls. The new leadership is strong, forward thinking, approachable and on top of current trends in education, learning and policy. The education your child receives at Mason Prep is the best in town and most definitely the greatest value in a friendly competitive independent school environment. But perhaps one of the most endearing and important qualities Mason Prep offers is a strong and sincere feeling of "family." My child's friends from elementary school and their families remain our closest friends, many years after matriculating. We feel so fortunate that we chose Mason Prep and would do it all over again if we had the chance.

We are the parents of a 7th and 3rd grader at Mason Prep. We have not had a single negative experience with the school in our seven years. From an academic standpoint, the teachers do an excellent job of not only teaching the required materials but also keeping an eye on each individual child to make sure they fully comprehend the material. If there is ever an issue, the teacher will do whatever it takes to resolve the problem even if it means giving freely of their own personal time. The teachers and administration not only know each child by name, they are also well aware of their individual personalities and demeanor. As such, they are very attuned to any problems that may arise. It is this individual attention that our children receive that makes this school stand out in the community.

I am a student at Mason Preparatory School. I have enjoyed the school for many years now and it offers great experiences and oppertunities! In my opinion you need to put your child in this school if you want them to have a good education. YOUR child will have great friends and there is no bullying what so ever. You will love the teachers and staff who are very involved with you children. YOUR child will be super prepared for highschool. Your child will love everything about this school. I am a parent of a 4th and 2nd grader and we absolutely love this school! I certainly don't agree with the writer that the teachers are uncaring. The school does expect much from the student but this is only to mold them into responsible and caring citizens. Our children are our future! The faculty/staff/teachers are exceptional in every way...
