We have loved our daughter's almost two years as a Pinckney Pirate, the teachers are great and it has an abundance of support from the community who care about their kids well-being and futures.

Typically teachers here suggest 10 minutes of homework per grade level (30 for 3rd grade, 40 for 4th etc.) which is a decent amount to make kids work but also have the freedom to do extracurricular activities and have time with family. Our daughter's 4th grade teacher(s) - they split time - do even more for families by rarely having any mandatory homework with the exception of reading and a mathematics app called Alex.

Our daughter has been motivated by her teachers both in the 3rd and 4th grades. She is excited to go to school each day and still full of enthusiasm when we pick her up.

Core principles at the school include kindness for others and respect for all, it is a wonderful learning environment.

The Principal and Ass't Principal have been responsive to any issues we have raised which for us was a very big deal having just transitioned to the community from overseas a week prior to our daughter's first day of school in the 3rd grade.

Our daughter's teachers have exhibited a number of different tactics to reach students who learn differently (hands on v. oral v. written). We have not however have experience with how they teach those students who have learning disabilities.

We have not had to deal with this issue at Charles Pinckney.

Pinckney is a wonderful school! The school is very large however my daughter never feels lost or that she is not getting enough attention. She has had amazing teachers over the past three years and I feel so fortunate that we live in Mt. Pleasant and can send our children to such terrific schools.

Everyone talks about South Carolina schools and how they 'Rank' nationally. I can promise you one thing, these schools are not included in that testing scores of the nation. This school is a gem in the rough!! Heck, it's the Baseball Diamond to be exact! Great School, great location, top notch teachers. We could not be happier with an education system!! A+

We just moved here in December and my son started school in January. Everyone we have met at the school has gone way beyond our expectations to help our son adjust to a new school The teachers are amazing and it is remarkable how well tthey are handling the growth.

We moved from out of state to this school and our child entered 3rd grade here. Immediately my child was singled out and bullied. When brought to the teachers attention, I was told they never witnessed it so it must not be happening. Kids are not stupid, they do it when the teachers AREN'T looking. . which lunch and recess here are basically unsupervised. While my child learned an incredible amount of information during actual instruction time, my child was MISERABLE. We moved out of district after only 6 months. Its sink or swim here and there is no support from the administration if your child is sinking.

Pinckney is an excellent school with a top notch staff. There is a big action- based learning theme there. Students get the opportunity to work at cool kinesthetic tables instead of traditional desks if they choose. There are innovative things going on at Pinckney.

Charles Pinckney Elementary School has a big soccer fields and teachers are so good and friendly.

Over-crowded classrooms with low standards. The Civil War is taught constantly and African American children are singled out by teachers and students in very negative ways. Teacher/ Bully phenomenon also strong in this school. As a conscientious parent, this school does not warrant a recommendation.

We recently moved here from Colorado. The actual classroom experience seems good, class sizes are small, we are very happy with our daughters teacher. The school itself is just too big. Discussed the attendance policy with the principal and was shocked by her comments. Basically if your child doesn't show up to school it's input into a computer system and sometime within the day or evening you will be alerted to that. I knew where my child was but saw a large whole in there system. I voiced my concern that if a child isn't accounted for at school and the parent hasn't called them in absent shouldn't they be contacted right away. The answer given to me was no. This is the system, on any given day there are 80 kids unaccounted for and they don't have the manpower to make the calls. So on any given day there are 80 kids that they are responsible for, are unaccounted for and they are doing nothing to find them. REAL SCARY.

Pinckney Elem is an excellent school! If you are zoned for this school and you have your child in a private school, you are wasting your money. The academics are strong and the parental involvement is wonderful. The teachers are qualified and know how to teach. I don't think there is a better school in the district or state.
