When we relocated to the Indian Land suburbs, this school fell within our zone. We'd heard positive things about it at the time, and it came highly recommended by friends. Now, with my child having completed Kindergarten and heading into second grade, I can wholeheartedly say it has lived up to the praise. The teachers are warm, encouraging, and genuinely engaging. We're especially impressed by how consistently our teachers keep us informed about daily activities and our child's progress. Most telling of all, my child absolutely loves going to school and speaks glowingly of the teachers which reassures us that we made the right choice.

Its a great school. The academic rigor is fantastic. My child got the best support both academically and extra curricular. The gifted program is pretty competitive. Your math and ELA needs to be in the very top percentile in the state/ country to do well in this program. The spelling bee program is fantastic too. Continuous stream of winners at district and state level.

We have been so pleased with our experience at Harrisburg Elementary for our 2nd grader. From the very first day, it's clear that this school is committed to creating a nurturing, educational environment that puts the well-being of every student
The teachers at Harrisburg are absolutely amazing! My child has had the privilege of learning from a highly dedicated and caring 2nd-grade teacher. The teacher not only focuses on academic growth but also on building social and emotional skills, which is incredibly important at this age. My child feels supported and valued in the classroom, and it shows in their eagerness to go to school each day.
The staff, including the principal and support staff, are always welcoming and open to communication. It's clear that they take the time to really get to know each student and their needs. Whenever I've had questions or concerns, the staff has been quick to respond and offer thoughtful solutions.
One of the standout features of Harrisburg is how it fosters a supportive learning environment. From the moment you walk in, the school feels warm and welcoming. The classrooms are bright and cheerful, and the hallways are filled with student artwork and projects, which gives a sense of pride and accomplishment.
My childs individual learning needs have always been met. The school offers differentiated instruction to ensure that every student is challenged at their own level. Its reassuring to know that my child is getting the right level of support and encouragement to succeed.
What really makes Harrisburg special is the sense of community. Its clear that both the staff and parents care deeply about the success and happiness of the students. There are plenty of opportunities for families to get involved, whether its through volunteering, school events, or attending classroom activities. The PTA is incredibly active and always strives to improve the school experience for everyone.
My child has made many new friends, and its so great to see how the school encourages social connections, teamwork, and respect for one another. Its an environment where everyone feels like they belong.
The safety and well-being of the students are top priorities at Harrisburg. The school has clear procedures in place to ensure that every child is safe and supported throughout the day. As a parent, I always feel comfortable knowing that my child is in good hands.

We have three children currently attending this school, and after several years here, I can say without hesitation that it is truly a special place. Even though its a large school, it somehow manages to feel incredibly personal and connected. Every teacher, specialist, and staff member seems to know and care for each child individually not just academically, but emotionally and socially too.
The leadership from the principal is outstanding. You can tell there is a clear, positive vision that trickles down into every classroom and hallway. The classroom teachers are deeply dedicated, creative, and nurturing. Our kids feel seen, supported, and challenged in all the best ways. The specials teachers (art, music, PE, etc.) bring so much enthusiasm and energy to their subjects, and our kids look forward to those classes every week.
But what stands out most is the sense of community and warmth. Its a school where everyone from the front office staff to the custodians is rooting for your child. That kind of love and care is rare, and we feel incredibly lucky to be part of this school family. Highly, highly recommend!

We moved from NC to have better school for our kid. While in NC school, my kid was hesitant to go to school because of the staff and the environment. For our surprise here in Harrisburg elementary school, she is motivated to go to school even when the school timing is early morning. Her teacher spend time with her to catch up things even when there are 20 kids around.

Very unprofessional staff from the teachers up to the administrators. Students forced to work on computers all day so teachers do not have to teach.

We moved from NC from a top rated school to this school in SC. Lot of people suggested that ratings does not matter, quality remains the same everywhere especially when kids are in KG-5th class but now I could clearly see the difference in the quality of teaching, teachers here (at least the one we have for my second grade kid) are not having the passion to upskill students. I do not recommend this school.

We could not be happier with Harrisburg Elementary School! We have two children at the school. Both are above grade level for math and reading. Both are happy to go to school every day and are excited for the fun events that the school puts on. Both had some ADHD disruptive behavior issues during their first year in the school and the staff went above and beyond to help with this, including weekly guidance groups, incentive behavior plans and frequent communications to us as parents. The principal is "boots on the ground" meaning she is very involved in all aspects of the school with nothing being beneath her. She's out there in the rain directing the car rider lane, she provides her personal cell phone number to all parents, responds to emails quickly and is seen at every single school event. Every teacher my kids have had has been phenomenal - I have really been blown away at how helpful and responsive the teachers are, even the specials teachers and specifically the guidance department. Every professional we've had involvement with really cares about the kids! Which is so important to me as a parent. The only downside is the fast growth in the area is quickly causing overcrowding so the classes are large. My kids haven't suffered as a result, and the school has added brand new module classrooms along with more teachers to accommodate the expanding population. But it is something I'll keep an eye on as time goes on. Overall, we are thrilled with our experience at Harrisburg!

Half of the teachers are excellent and the other half are eurhe average or subpar.

They claim to take this seriously, but that is contraindicated when a bullying situation arises and is carelessly brushed aside. One threatening another to kill him and his Mother is not okay.

Harrisburg Elementary school is 5 stars all the way. Top teachers who care, staff that is helpful, PTA that works hard for the school, and the best parent involvement I have ever seen. A true community school.

Great my daughter started Kindergarten last year. It could not have been a better experience. Harrisburg is also the only school in South Carolina to be named a school of Character. This school was founded in 2014 so this test scores should be improving as the kids that started here move up.

LOVE THIS SCHOOL!!! We've done the charlotte schools and Union county schools and HES does not compare to any of them. The environment is such a happy one. The way the principal runs the school is evident throughout the smiles and kindness of the staff. Our children have thrived there because of the way they run this school. So happy we found HES!!!

The principal at this school is incredible and the teachers and support staff are top notch. My children weren't just educated, they were part of a community that helped them grow as leaders. My daughter needed some special help that that was recognized and addressed by her teachers. I wish every school functioned up to the standards they set at Harrisburg.

The teachers know the kids by name, they take a true interest in their education and special needs. I think they do an incredible job making sure that everyone gets the attention they need.

The school teaches the kids to be leaders and to do the right thing...even when no one is watching you. The iLead program is unique and really lends to the kids sense of pride in themselves and the role they play and an awareness of other kids in the school.
