My son has attended Creswell since he was in 5th grade and Dr. Lane has served as the Executive Principal each year. He is now starting his 8th grade year and I can genuinely say that attending Creswell has been a great experience for him thus far. As a parent of a child with Dyslexia, I appreciate the ongoing support from the teachers that have taught my son as well as the administrative staff. My son has created bonds and built with relationships with his teachers and peers that he didn't have prior to attending this school. His love for the arts has blossomed as well. My son did not have a joy for school until he started attending Creswell and now, he's excited to come and he has come out of his shell. Thank you, Dr. Lane and Creswell Arts Magnet! I would definitely recommend this school to any parent for their child!

Our son loves this school. It’s definitely a school in the rise. It’s also the only public middle school of the arts in Nashville. Arts integration learning is something I value as a parent and Creswell does a great job.

Isaiah T. Creswell Middle Magnet School of the Visual and Performing Arts is on the cusp of greatness. Their vibrant community features students actively engaged in their classes, parent tours for prospective families, and a bustling library where students dive into research and reading to boost their literacy skills. Teachers engage in collaborative planning to stay at the forefront of instructional practices, while students participate in a variety of rehearsals for dance, choir, drama, and band—including our renowned drumline. They also offer an extended day program with a variety of after-school clubs. Students can explore interests in ukulele, beats, cheerleading, theatre, Legos, drones, and robotics. Additionally, they provide opportunities for boys and girls to join basketball and soccer teams.

Over the years, I have had my children in six different schools in MNPS. Creswell was by far the worst. They made it sound great while describing their arts programming which was the big draw for us but it did not live up to what they were selling. The one year my child spent at this school was not good. She fell behind and spent the following year at a better magnet school catching up. Shen she came to Creswell she qualified for an academic but didn't win the lottery. By the time she left, she no longer qualified. The drama program at Creswell was worse than the after school program at the school that she moved to, a school that does not focus on the arts at all. Even though state law required a certain amount of recess the school constantly broke the law and the principal said she was trying to find a loophole to get around the law. Students who were discipline problems were transferred into the drama class, causing huge and unending disruptions for the children who really wanted to be there. In fact, every single class my child reported being constantly distracted from learning by discipline issues. I didn't think that low test scores should be the most important thing in my decision making, but it turned out that this school stole time from the arts (their so-called focus), recess, and pretty much everything to focus constantly on test prep. After the first week, I was in tears that I had made the mistake of sending my child here. I started calling private schools even though it was outside my budget. We stayed the year because my child liked drama class (when it wasn't being interrupted by discipline issues), but we also applied for and thankfully got into a different magnet school for the following year. All of the other schools we have attended: magnet, zoned, and charter have had their good and bad points, but Creswell was 100 percent a mistake that I still regret.

We love Creswell! My son is doing well academically and artistically. He is loved, safe, and well cared for. His teachers take a genuine interest in his success. We also love the partnerships that the school administration has formed with the community and local businesses. There are so many opportunities my son has that he did not have at his school of zone.

The principle is rude, I don't know why it's call school of art cause they don't do nothing. The kids is out of control i wouldn't send my kids in need a new principle too day!!!!!!!!!

ITC is a decent school. I like that the school offers a variety of art classes. If you are considering this school, I would suggest to stay on top of the all of the faculty. The teachers are very responsive. I have had great success by communicating with them via email.. Now, you may have problems getting a response from the principal. The office plays this "triage" game, which makes it a bit complicated to get a hold of him. And I would suggest for every parent to familiarize themselves with the District's Policy, because sometimes they seem to forget it. Putting all that aside, my child loves this school. I think there are issues with all schools, and if they are not addressed or properly escalated, it will just make matters worse.

IT Creswell is a school that is thriving towards excellence. I have been impressed with majority of the teachers and I really like the principal- Dr.Murcray. My only concern has been the treatment of the students by some of the staff. I have witnessed the staff belittling the students. This is a school not a prison!! I have agreed to let my daughter return this upcoming school year in hopes to see some improvements if not I will not let her return the following year. .

My daughter has thrived during her years at I.T. Creswell. To respond to an earlier comment: the audition and juries process has evolved significantly over the time that we've been with the school, and I have been very impressed not only with the reorganization process, but also with the teachers staff's ability to adapt. ITC seems to just get better every year - articstically AND academically - and the Nasvhille community is definitely taking notice! Now is the perfect time to be a Comet!

I.T. Creswell is an amazing school! It has top notch teachers and administration. It is the perfect school for artistic or creative children, as they are nurtured, valued, and appreciated. Learning is very hands on, project based, and fun for students, making them want to succeed! I have a 6th grader there now, and I am so thanksful we get to be a part of the Creswell family for two more years!

I have had the worst experience sending my child to I.T.Crestwell because he has an IEP. I call the school, visited the school a couple time. I would call and ask for her assistance with my child grades, she would refer me to other teachers instead or taking care of the matter herself. She is in the same location as the teacher that I needed her to talk with about my son grades but she would not help me at all. My child grades being modified by the teachers. It is very heart breaking to meet with the staff and teachers face to face and still receive this kind of treatment about your child. I just wanted all the things that was outline in his IEP to be upheld by the school and the staff. I have left message after message for the Special Education teacher to aide me and my child with the modification of his grades. Here it is two days before school lets out and his grades have not been modified yet. If I'm having such a hard time with getting assistance from the staff. I can just imagine what kind of school year he experience with the staff at I.T. Crestwell.

This is a great school compared to the school my chilldren use to attend. Teachers are very nice.

This is my son's first year at Creswell. He is a 5th grader coming from a terrible elementary school. Ms. Greco in 5th grade has made a world of difference for my son and the communication is 100% better than his elementary school. I email her and she responds within 2 hours or less. I am very pleased so far with Creswell.

My impression of the professionalism of the staff is very positive. However, the biggest problem that I see is the fact that auditions are not required for admission. An arts magnet school should provide unique opportunities for students who are able to demonstrate some aptitude, or at least interest, in art. In my opinion, there are too many students who are there because they live close by and not because they are serious about art.
