Truly terrific! The volunteerism is contagious at this school and therein lies the heart of what makes this school great! It allows our wonderful caring teachers the opportunity to work with our kids even more because parents in our community step up to help all the time in whatever capacity is necessary! And my kids really love going to school because of the fun and friendly atmosphere.

They definitely take time with the students to ensure that they learn material. With the youngest grades, there are more parent volunteers to help the children with learning.

Yes and their ROAR program (being Respectful, Outstanding, Accountable and Responsible) gets the students excited to show how they can best exhibit these behaviors. Students receipt this every morning over the intercom and receive ticket each day for displays of this behavior towards others. Then the children can redeem these tickets for "Lion's Loot" prizes. The final Lion's Loot drawing at the end of the year allows them to receive larger prizes such as ROAR t-shirts and free ice cream from a local business.

Teachers and PTA group is very happy with everyone from our Superintendent, school admin, and our staff of teachers. They all work together for the common goal of increasing learning advantages for our students.

Both of my sons attended LES from Kindergarten until middle school. My youngest will be moving on to LMPS next year. We are sad to be leaving LES. We had a wonderful experience for both of my boys.

Great teachers. Always providing opportunities for parental involvement. My sons teacher saw a learning disability and talked with me about what she was witnessing. After my consent, she started the process for him to have special services through and IEP. Not only are they concerned about academics, they also look at opportunities to grow the whole child through clubs and organizations.

We moved here at the beginning of the school year and the teachers and students have done a wonderful job at helping my son integrate and make friends. My son is in 2nd grade and his teacher has been top notch. I have been kept well informed of his progress and she responds to all emails. There are many events and activities that take place throughout the school year and parents are highly encouraged to participate and volunteer. The counselor has met with my son to make sure that he is adjusting well and seemed genuinely concerned. I would highly recommend this school to everyone.

My kindergartener only knew a few words in August and was reading short stories in September. The teachers have parents spend time with each child daily reading one on one. Great school!

This is a wonderful school. Some of the comments I have read appear to be SPAM. The school has wonderful community and parent involvement, we have a 1st grader in the school. Teachers are very accessible. We moved to the area specifically for access to this school.

The school is over-rated. Their disciplinary acts would be consider as child abuse. Even though physical acts were not used to hurt a child, verbal comments and mental demure games are just as critical in stunting the growth of a child.

My daughter has been attending this school since her kindergarten year. She is now in 4th grade. We have been very pleased with every teacher she has had. Every time I have had a concern of any kind it has been promptly dealt with. I could not ask for a better learning atmosphere for my child. I am very thankful we are able to attend Lakeland Elementary School.

Stay far, far away from this school. Do not be fooled by the fact that this school is surrounded by nice, large houses. It is one of the most dangerous and poorly managed schools I have ever come across. My son has been beat up twice. He is five years old. His teacher refused to communicate with me and did not even tell me that she had witnessed other kids dumping his lunch on the ground or stealing his money. Oh, and to the previous posters who said that they have been denied special services...DEAD ON! My son has mild apraxia, yet his teacher said she "didn't have time to deal with it". She wouldn't even submit the paperwork to get him evaluated. Your are better off sending your child to Central High School. I had to pull him out of that place. I would rather homeschool him than have him come home with bruises every day. My husband and I are so sad that we moved all the way out here just to deal with this.

My sons have attended LES for 3 years now and though we had some issues the first year, the last 2 have been great! For the most part the teachers and staff are wonderful in doing all they can to challenge and be there for the children and encouraging in parent involvement. My 3rd son will start in a couple of years and based on how it has been we are looking forward to it! My children love going there and they really love their teachers That says ALOT for any parent!
