Being a senior at this school (at the time of writing this), the best word I can use to describe this school is confused. There's a repeating message that the staff prioritizes students' education to the fullest, but to me I only see a standard and plain amount of effort in terms of education. From what I know, there's more money spent on sports than anything. To give the staff credit though, there are many AP and honors class options to choose from, I'd say the biggest flaw here is their choice in teachers. I've had a good few teachers who were visibly unmotivated for their job, dispassionate about what they taught, and/or unwilling to help students who didn't immediately understand their lessons. I'm not sure what this school's system is for hiring, but I hope it improves to weed out these types of non-teachers. On the good side, many teachers I've had were genuine, impactful, and understanding. Props to them.
In terms of safety, it's honestly alright. Fights are rare, and security and staff are always quick to break up the conflict. Safety protocols are strongly enforced, so I've never personally worried about any intruders or getting attacked by any students. That being said, I am white. Emotional support is honestly debatable depending on the person and severity of the discussion. My counselor is really kind and accommodating, but others say their counselor doesn't listen or care... mixed bag, I guess.
Now, my older sister went to this same school a few years ago, she's on a part of the autism spectrum that requires her to be put into the special education system... the absolute disregard for the differences in disabled children is appalling. They bunch every single type of child with varying stims and triggers onto the same bus, into the same classroom, students who scream and talk uncontrollably paired with students who become extremely panicked and overwhelmed at sound (like my sister). Not to mention, they teach every student the SAME way with the unrealistic expectation that they'll ALL be able to participate in the workforce. Some will, some won't, depending on the job they take, but that nuance is completely thrown out the window. It really feels like the system doesn't actually care to respect disabilities; they just want more cogs for the machine. I'm not sure how much control this school has over the way special education is done, but if they have any liberty at all, they REALLY need to step it up and start accounting for differing needs.

So at this point lets talk about the racism and racial bias injustice here at Clear Lake High School and in ccisd school district. My son whom is a freshman was just attacked in the bathroom by an 18 year old student last month and its on camera and the aggressive man/student was given a stay away order meanwhile a white kid stole his AirPods ran then lied and said my son threatened to kill him and without hesitation my black son was detained. I guess its ok long as its black on black crime huh but soon as a white kid whom has a history of stealing from other students on school grounds crys wolf then its immediately handled. Im so sick of this
The staff and administrators assisting principals and even the transporting officers rave about how my kid is such a great student and how respectful he is but the color of his skin is and always will be a problem. Thank god he has a mother like me thats not going to allow this to happen to mine, especially when other students have also reported this white student for stealing! NAACP and Dr Candice Matthews and every other BLACK civil rights organization and activist definitely will stand behind US. Im reporting this to all news outlets and anyone else who will listen because this unjust has to be stopped and at this point Ive had enough.
Every week or another its been something. Are these people not fit to handle our children or is it because theyre BLACK?

We attended a district wrestling tournament. The school is very clean and new. The students were very motivated in their competition. The school offers many academic and extra curricular opportunities. The teachers are well educated and also encourage good character.

The new leadership does not care about student success or well-being. All they care about is sports. There are other sports- centered schools in CCISD, bring the old principal back!

Clear Lake is the best school in the area in terms of preparing students for higher education. It is definitely a school for students who have some academic drive and intend to go on to college. It is less well suited for students who need more specialized attention or do not have some personal motivation, academically. So long as you are looking for a school that will help your child achieve their highest potential academically and achieve their future goals, you really can't find a better place south of Houston.

I currently go to Clear Lake. It is extremely competitive. If you don't put in the effort to make good grades, the teachers will not help you. They do not baby you in any way. They prepare you for college very well.

Don't let them find out if the doctor prescribes strong medication for your child. They will either have a choice of taking it and staying home or going to school in pain. They think they know more than the parents or doctors.

This school is full of drugs. Coaches are not supporting our children sadly. Dreams are crushed, very sad.
