As a former student of this high school, I have to say that this school could not have been a more worse experience. I attended this school for 2 and 1/2 years. This was my first high school and probably my last public high school due to my understanding of how public schools today run.

The school is not the place that you should take your child to.

I was really involved with a lot of the activities that they provided. I did soccer, band, HOSA, TAFE, CNA, and many other extra curriculars. It was really fun my first year but I realized that it was impacting my health negatively. Instead of getting more out of my education and involvement, I got less out of it.

The kids there are really toxic. Not enough room to walk around during passing periods. There are way too many fights in that school. Too much drama that will impact your child negatively. Too many threats. Most kids do drugs such as vaping, smoking, and a lot of mental issues. Don't let your child come here unless you do mind them getting surrounded with these activities.

Even on top of that, the environment of the school is awful. Most bathrooms are not functional and not enough staff to monitor these areas. The auditorium still smells horrible even after a year that cricket season ended. A lot of graffiti in the bathrooms as well. It is a really small school. The halls are way too crowded when everyone is getting to their classes. I often am either standing in hall because there are way too many students in this school. I really recommend that they either expand the school or make another high school in the area.

So if you want to have your child come to this school, just know that it is chaotic. The staff to student ratio is just not nearly enough and the parents involvement is too low. Many things that happen are not mentioned to the public and it overall will be a bad experience.

Public schools obviously aren’t built to be the best, but most try to listen to the students. My family is not in the best position so I have to work, on-top of a job I have 8 classes and am at school the whole day. I go home and I have to study. What time do I have? Their solutions are terrible, and they just care about numbers. I was a high achieving student, but one thing this school taught me is that numbers absolutely don’t matter, because those above will never fail to ruin you. I worked hard for several years for my gpa to drop .7 points, just to be told consistently “your GPAs still good”, it doesn’t matter if it’s good its what i had and how I was not provided help to fix a problem the school caused. I’m a straight A student, and yes factoring in the CP courses I take my GPA would drop, but not .7. This school will make your child have a enraged hopeless feeling, this school will break your child, good kid or not. Most teachers are kind and try to motivate the students, but they themselves are drained from administration. Give your child hope, do not let them break, if you care about your childs education and well-being do not let them go here. Theres much more, but none are my personal experience. Stop silencing your students and treating them all like criminals.

Please do not send your child here it is awful i have been picked on for so long here and nothing gets done about it no punishments nor discipline. Other studente will vape,smoke and can straight up disrespect the teachers and the teacher dont do anything the amount of fighting and threats here are so common and even if someone is in the right with self defense they still suspend them and send them to daep. Students make social meida to disrespect other students and post videos of kids fighting and the staff does nothing out of all the teachers here only a handfull care about the students. Please overlook this school and the ccisd district your better off sending your kids to another school

as a current student I have been at this school for 3 years and it is not a good school most teachers will act like teachers when parents are being talked to but change as soon as they are done with the parent. most teachers do the least possible work to help even if the students go to them. I would not recommend this school to anyone if you want to have a good high school experience

If you absolutely have to send your child here, be aware of the problems that will ultimately arise. This is not a “safe” area either, the amount of threats that have happened within this school year (2019-2020) are astounding. If you’re child does attend this school, please make your kid participate in some out-of-school activity because they’ll have a hard time trying to find their place in this school. If you’re active duty look into another school before this one. While I have had good experiences this year, overall this school is incredibly underwhelming and really doesn’t challenge students academically. You have to sift through many teachers to find one that truly cares about their kids education.

The staff at the front were very rude to us when we first came and a couple of the counselors seem like they don’t even want to be here.

The student to teacher ratio is so unbalanced, so classes switch between being way too big or way too small. There have also been cases of student-teacher relationships so watch out.

The students themselves seem bored, and many tend to act out because they need help that the school refuses to give.

If you’re low-income, the school does try to aid you, but some staff literally don’t care about what you or your child needs.

Drugs-use, alcohol-use, and sex are commonplace so watch your kids closely.

My experience has been frustrating whenever I need to talk to a higher up because there is little to no time to talk to anyone about anything. Communication with any of the staff is mediocre and unhelpful most of the time.

Those in charge of attendance do mess up occasionally, they have counted me with unexcused absences before (despite having a doctor’s notes).

The overall cleanliness of the school is poor. Good luck during flu season, many parents don’t vaccinate their kids and the school gets on your butt about masks (not those fake decorative ones, like real n95 masks). The school also has a hard time cleaning the classrooms as many of them still have trash since the beginning of the year. The bathrooms are almost always a mess too.

Oh and for the icing on the cake —despite how much the children try to be inclusive the school is a very conservative place. If your kid is lgbtq or of any race besides white there may be problems with bullying (and not just from other kids).

While this school is ultimately against homework due to the amount of classes a student takes each day, the homework that is given is nothing more than busy work and doesn’t actually engage the student

There are only a handful of teachers who actually put in the effort to teach their students. I was amazed by how far behind the curriculum was in comparison to my old high school

The school couldn’t care less about the wellbeing of the students despite saying otherwise, most of the programs are a joke if they aren’t accredited. There’s also the lack of school activities for students, the most you get are school games and pep rallies and that’s it. The school does not try to engage their students at all.

It’s very hard to find strong leadership amongst the school AND teachers. Many students struggle with being heard and teachers are either too strict or too passive.

You’re extremely lucky if a staff member even listens to you about your experience. Fights are a weekly occurrence and the school does nothing to combat this —simply saying it’s the students fault for acting out

I went to pick up my little sister and yes my mom forgot to put on as a contact. So it's was a issue but Marion in the front was very unhelpful cut me off when I was speaking to her didn't say excuse me and picked up the phone while I was speaking to her. I had to ask her what to do to get my sister out she did not offer any help it was like playing 21 questions with her. I finally got an answer from her what I needed to do I called my mom and my mom called the school and she was giving her a hard time?!

i just came to this school this year and it was a big change. i made friends quickly but most of them are guys because the girls here are self centered and catty. but i feel like i haven't learned anything. i got a lot of work done in my old school and every student here just doesn't shut up and pay attention to the class. all my grades are low!! and some of my teachers are strict and don't teach very well. i hate school but i do wanna learn. i only like coming to talk to my friends.

Too many rules limit the human mind. This school will strip your children of their individuality, If they have any left. Teach your children to question everything they here, and that bending to conformity will deprive them of their freedom. Let them decide their own morals and tell them not to impose them on others.

This is a great one high school town, so they get lots of local support. They have worked very hard to accomodate both high achieving students and those that need more vocational training. My kids love this school, and as military kids, they feel like they belong here.
