Harmony School has been very good for my children, and I am pleased with the school community. Keep up the great work.

The classrooms and learning environment are also good. However, I have noticed that classroom management could be improved in a few classes. I hope to see continued improvement in this area next year.

Watching my child grow and thrive at Harmony Science Academy- Garland has been such a rewarding experience. From the very beginning, the teachers and staff created a warm, supportive environment where my child felt safe, welcomed, and excited to learn. One of the highlights has been how the school nurtures curiositywhether its through creative writing, interactive science lessons, or encouraging reading at every level.
Ive noticed real growth not just academically, but socially and emotionally as well. My child has become more confident, expressive, and eager to explore new ideas. The positive communication between teachers and families has also made us feel truly involved in the learning journey. Overall, its been a wonderful foundation thats helped shape a strong love of learning in our child.

I do my child excelling after attending Harmony. He has desire to learn more. The only complaint I have is the bathrooms are not clean at all which concerns me the hand to mouth disease and there is never soap. The food I am told is always cold and frozen. I understand the school does alot and goes above and beyond for our kids but these are the very minimum concern I have. Thanks.

We tried so many schools and even did homeschooling for a year. We thought the public school system was failing our kids and there would never be a good fit for our kids with a safe environment. Then we found Harmony in Garland. I have one in Harmony Science Academy & Harmony Innovation. Let me tell you this changed how we felt quickly. The Dean of the school called to let us know that our son in 3rd at the time was a bit behind in reading/writing. That she was taking him out personally to watch his growth. As long as he is making progress that is what mattered. I offered to take him to Saturday school. She stated that he needs time to be a kid and that he is doing extra in class with her. This was not needed. What school says that anymore? Let a kid be a kid?? I remember when my oldest was in 3rd/4th going through those fun grades to learning and was consistently told he was to wild and needed to learn to sit down! This school is amazing. They do not allow bullies.

As a teacher, I love working at Harmony Science Academy Garland. Here, teachers are valued and creativity is encouraged. :) We are a team and a family. Our Admin team is present, supportive, and serves our teachers, too! Our students know they are valued and cared about. Both of my children are in the elementary school. There is sometimes a lot of work if the students do not prioritize their time. Teachers allow the students to complete the work in class if they have free time, even if the homework is not for that specific class.

Most of the teachers are young and not that much experience teaching children; however, my children test above the national average on all subjects. Most teachers are passionate and truly care about the children. There are problems at any school but the ones I have run into are resolved when I escalate it to the administration team.

If the student does not understand the subject matter the teachers will hold tutoring classes in the morning and are open to the parents on things that can be done at home to help improve their understanding on materials.

Yes and no. My daughter has had instances when she has told administrative staff of bullying and the child is talked to and the issue resolves itself. I am aware of problems where the children are bullying each other, aka roasting each other, the administrative staff is aware but unable to stop it. Although, I am not sure how they would be able to if the children participate in it and refuses to walk off and diffuse the situation until someones' feelings are hurt.

There are pros and cons to any school. I think this school works well with my children. The office staff knows my children by name and recognizes me when I come in. This would be hard to imagine for them to recognize parents and children for the volume they have. The best part is that in the middle and high school the children have the ability to go on a fast track for education and potentially can graduate with an associates degree at 18.

This school is awful! My child would come home in tears at least twice a week and would beg me not to send him back. I decided to try and stick it out for the year and the school was so behind on their curriculum that he was bringing home 1st grade work while being in the 2nd grade. We have spent almost the entire summer getting him ready for 3rd grade, which he will be attending at another school. I would not recommend this school to any parent... Unless you don't care about your child's education.

This school only handles bullying if you get into their faces and refuse to back down. I listen to one mother yell at anyone who would listen, because her daughter had been deliberately stabbed with a pencil, and the child was allowed back in school, no punishment. My own son comes home with scratches and marks.

My autistic son hates this place. Unless I am there to help him, they stick him in front of an iPad and ignore him. Everything is loud and obnoxious, and my son gets overstimulated and shuts down.

I caught some children beating a boy in the parking lot. I tried to break them up but failed. I ran for help, and administration just stood there. They listened to me, said thanks for letting us know, and went back to their work! No help, no asking who was involved, nothing. My son comes home with scratches from certain students in his class, yet nothing is done unless I march in there with pictures and not leave until I am positive something IS done.

It's an okay school. It feels new, not in that the facilities are nice (at ALL) but that it seems to be trying to figure out how to function as a school. I am in the hallways frequently for various reasons, and I constantly hear teachers YELLING at children. Not asking nicely, not even giving a warning, they just snap. One woman tore into a child so severely the child cried, and I had to report her. What had the child done? She had offered her crayon to the child next to her.

Although my son is gifted in engineering, I regret moving him from his former school to this one, namely because this is NOT an SpEd-friendly school, and my son is autistic. The PA system is so loud, it hurts MY ears, and the words are hard to understand. It's been that way all year. Even though they've been told not to let my son out until I am there to get him, they let him out. The noise and the kids get him overstimulated until he wants to run home -- which he has tried, several times. I've had to jump out of the car and run to catch him. Their great solution for him whenever he doesn't want to participate is to stick an iPad in front of him. His former school met once a quarter to let me know how he was doing, if we needed to add any new goals for him, that kind of thing. This school meets once a YEAR. For a child with special needs, it's just not enough. I had high hopes for this school, but my son is miserable and begs me every day not to send him back. We will finish out the year and go back to his more SpEd-friendly school of Couch.

My children have been attending this school for 2 years. The only issue I have is that there seem to be slim to none African-American teachers being hired. There should be at least ONE African-American teacher in each grade level. Every nationality is represented except African-Americans. Having 1 - 3 African American teachers do not count when a large number of your students are African-American. Please don't use the tired excuse of "they don't apply". I know of several qualified and experienced African American teachers who apply and are overlooked. Educational institutions should have teachers who reflect the image of the students...well, this include African-American's too. When I meet my children teachers they are always "new" with no educational experience. So, the hiring process for the staff is questionable.

The best Middle and high-school you can attend in the Garland area. They deserve an award. They are so involved in the community of kids that the teachers are always aware of the kid's problems . They are always there to support the kid and help them in their hard times. whether they are having family problems or feeling peer pressure. I noticed the No-bullying policy had strong effect here because I had not noticed insult from the students. My son is actually a devoted star wars nerd but has friends from all back rounds (even with the cool students). this community is really a relaxing community, I thank all the staff for their care for each and every single student. :D

One of the best schools in the Dallas-Forthworth area. It has great academic success and holds great morale with the kids. Its interesting how there is such a big interest by the community because the Parent teacher Organization (PTO) is always active and working on something. I would say it is like the "Harvard" of Garland because it is definitely not easy to get admitted when there is a huge line wanting to get in once another student leaves the school

Why is this school underrated? This school is better than all the schools I went before, the staff are very friendly and they actually care about you and what you can accomplish. They are up to date on technology, with their Chromebooks for every student, and have programs for the gifted. Students in my school are always competitive and the smartest kids are usually regarded as "the cool kids" . I think its a great school and I strongly disagree on the negative comments given.

Love it! Its a totally different environment than traditional high schools because it has passion from the staff and the students. I have seen a lot of bad kids become adapted into the discipline. They just became influenced by the school environment. Academic achievement is high in this school, as well as the expectations...

Great school really. I noticed change in people who come to this school. When some of my class mates first came they acted like zoo animals. In 2 years they have become very different. they act so mature now. They stopped getting in trouble with the Discipline and now are challenging their selves on competitions like who could get the highest score on an assignment. weird? yeah very weird...

Great school. The school is a great way for a smart student to really excel with accomplishments. He or she just has to show potential or willingness to achieve higher. My experience the teachers helped a lot and I am definitely not the same person I was three years ago.

Although people argue that the discipline is high, this really impacts who applies to this school. The people that apply to the school are people who work for success rather than coming to school by force. We love this school and all the teachers in it.The class size is small, so its easy to get one-on-one with the teacher. For example I have about twenty students in my whole grade, separated into two classes (11-8). All of my teachers are willing to wait after school and help me with anything I am stuck at. All of them mention to come to them if they need any help and are very willing to help with projects. My robotics teacher gets more exited then me when i introduce my projects. The environment is friendly and everyone gets along well, no drama really. There were no single fights this year! fighting happens in every school, just not here. I can proudly say that this school is very similar to a college prep school because it focuses on STEM and encourages a college ready process. When I first took the sat I had a 1200, but now because of the CRLP(college readiness and leadership program) I got a 1900, and I still have a littlew more time to get a 2000. CRLP gives you the opportunity to study SAT on the weekends with volunteering teachers for the whole year. Its amazing how much they care for us. I would say if this was a private school and only accepted students with the urge to learn and do more, then this school would be one of the top schools in Dallas. All you need to learn is to show the urge to learn. Many of our teachers encourage us to attend national competitions, we do and we usually come back with a trophy every time. If you have a smart child that would like to attend a school where there are good teacher relations, outside of the box thinking, and a fun time, you have this school as an option. Please don't bother looking at the other reviews because I have read them and they usually write about their horrific experiences with the disciplinary system.With sports, we recently opened our soccer team, we have a basketball team and we are planning on numerous different sport for 2015. since its anew school it is increasingly getting better every year. After a number of players were willing to play. I love this school my friends love this school and people who can't handle their actions usually don't come here.

When this school first opened, I was in the 8th grade class, which at the time was the highest grade level. It built a grade every year until it reached 12th grade. I went to this school from 8th grade year to my sophomore year in high school. This has been THE best school I have EVER been to. Harmony gives us students more opportunities than public schools do. Harmony has the best teachers and students I will ever met. Harmony focuses on college, and everything. I loved the smaller classes because it helped me concentrate better. If I did not move out of state, I would still be going to this school. So glad my mom made me come here. This school is amazing. Keep up the good work Harmony Tigers! : )

This school is a great school. The teachers stay after school and help our struggling child. They also give up their time on Saturday to teach as well. The admin are very approachable and will take the time to talk to you when you have issues. I would recommend anyone who has a K-5th student to send their child to this school

Not at all what I expected... Uncertified teachers who really don't know how to control a classroom... over crowding... treating high school kids like 10 year olds... parking, pickup and drop off, and school management is a nightmare... sometimes I wonder who is running these things. Hit or miss... I realized that what I thought I didn't like about public school - is actually what makes public school so great. football, volleyball, teams, mascots, fun, differences, diversity... it actually prepares kids for real life. so long Harmony... the great experiment is over - we are going home. At the end of the day the elementary schools and high schools in Garland ISD are really great. The grass is never greener people.

My Son has only attended one year, after one year with GISD and as a Transfer student to Texas from California.Our son thrives in a free thinking environment, any program that structures "in the box" has never worked out well for our son and we watched as GISD again tried to teach "in a box" our son's scores for reading comprehension in the STARS Test were in the 97% percentile yet he was failing English in his 4th grade GISD class after coming from the Gifted program at his former charter in California. Again "the box" was limiting our sons capabilities in English as well as math. It was a gift to finally make it into Harmony as his test results and academic history were accepted and embraced. He was again enrolled n the Gifted program and his grades continued to climb and remain consistent, except for gardening (: The teachers, staff, and vice principal are all wonderful interactive leaders who keep an open communication with parents. I can also say even in times of Turmoil, the occasional argument or bully, both the teachers and Vice principal alike listened to my sons concerns and took action. Charter learning is not for all, but charter and Harmony are working for us (:

Terrible school. The teachers treat middle/high schoolers like elementary 10 year olds. Absolutely no freedom to act as their own age. Lack of school activities compared to other schools in the GISD. Overall terrible facility with crowded environment and upsetting teachers lacking the treatment of higher grade level students.

In order to raise the bars, in both, Language and Mathematics for Standardized Testings, no matter which one it may be, the best solution would be is to have students' preparations begin at an earlier grade level, in both, Language & Mathematics. To begin with, as far as Mathematics is concerned, have students memorize 'Multiplications Tables', which will not, only enhance their abilities to remember & solver problems, but it will, also, aide in 'Higher Level' Mathematics. Secondly, pertaining to Language, enhance and educate students with 'Grammatical Tenses', once again at an earlier grade level. You might ask why? The reason would be when students learn the three tenses at earlier level, by the time they will reach middle school, they will be prepared to compose essays/prose, in an excellent format, if not near perfect. To conclude, when students have acquired and perfected on these abilities, this should and would aide in acquiring higher scores in 'Standardized Tests"....... Safia G. I highly recommend Harmony Science Academy . It's a much smaller school. In fact, the students often complain that the hallways are too narrow. However, the narrow width of the hallway is a small price to pay for what you get in return. Our son has just completed his first year of school at Harmony after falling through the cracks at one of the RISD schools. We are so very pleased that HSA offers after-school programs that stem from academics, such as the Science Olympiads. We are also pleased that students receive substantial physical education and workouts without being watered down with pep rallies and football games. Our son's grades have improved tremendously, his self esteem has grown, his social skills and interactions have been refined to something we can be proud of and his perception of school has changed from "inconvenient bother" to something he truly looks forward to every day. To all the teachers and staff, I applaud you and I am grateful for the time you've invested in my son.

We are on our second year at this school and love it. The teachers at the elementary level at least really care, they encourage the kids to learn and give them the support they need to achieve everything they are capable of. I love the communication from the school we are always kept well informed of our childs progress and anything we need to pay special attention too. I would love to see more social events and sports and I worry about how many students are in the building they definately need more space.

This school is having growing pains. It is a great school with excelled academics, but they are missing top level organization within the onsite administration. The enrollment is way to large for the size of the facility. Many of the teachers are foreign and do not understand the social aspects of school here in the U.S. I will say that the teachers care and they do everything in there power to teach the kids. My 2 students are both learning at a grade level above the local district (GISD). Expectations are high but there needs to be a more rounded approach to the socialization that is expected in American public schools. They would be great if the building was larger or the grades serviced were only 6-12. A good alternative if you choose to take the best out of the experience. I imagine that in a few years this will be a great school, after they have gone through the over-enrollment growing pains.

This school is very unorganized with what they doing with disipline and teachings. This school is very small for the erollment of K-10. I would not send your children to this school. I would not send your children to this school. I went to a GISD school before and they are more up-to-date and focused on what their teaching than this school.
