Friendswood Junior High school is a really good school the teachers are nice the substitutes are a little bit just that two of them or respectfully is too old and another is too strict than a usual teacher can be, I'm in band and the teachers are the best Mr.Steinke is the band director in Concert and Synphonic band and he is really cool, funny, positive, and he thought us how to be better at playing, Mr. Hunter is serious and quiet but he sometimes smiles he helps us how to play better too, Mr. Abbott is the one I know the less but he is really sweet and kind, I'm a ESL student so in the class Ms. Anderson help the students with English and thanks to her students who don't have a good knowledge of English can maintain a high grade. The school prepared the students for their future, and this school make my grade be much more higher than any other school that I had been in example mi grade in my old school was like 1400(6th grade) in this school is like 1800(7th grade). Another thing is that I noticed that special students don't have the enough atttention but they do have buses which arrive specially for them.Also you have the opportunity to join National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) which is an organization to help community, like giving clothes to homeless people and you can join science fair I which to but I'm not goin bacause I'm goin to another school faraway from the state and thas the reason for my review to show people how amazing and great this school is and the amount of opportunities you have here in Friendswood Junior High.

Pros: Experienced Teachers, Robotics Program, TOP notch band/choir/theater, Nice building, Only 1 Jr High feeding to 1 HS, great Advanced Placement Courses
Cons: Big School, Competitive, no Orchestra
We moved to the area last year, and were looking for a School District that would challenge our oldest son. Expectations are high from AP teachers, but the kids are learning so fast! Extracurriculars galore, but pretty competitive. He is really excelling. :) He’s made friends and found his place in Band and Academic UIL Team. Generally wholesome culture. Tight knit community.

The lack of diversity is a feature, not a bug. Students outside the "norm" are bullied on a daily basis while teachers watch and do nothing. Reporting goes nowhere. Sometimes the kids outside the norm are actually punished for reporting or not fitting into cookie-cutter molds of what FJH thinks "proper" children should look like. My child transferred from Pearland ISD and despite us hearing fro Friendswood residents on a daily basis how "good" their schools are, the academics and the teachers are far behind Pearland. We learned quickly that "good" was a codeword for "white and conservative." The lack of meaningful COVID-19 protocols is shameful, as evidenced by the number of close contact cases that have arisen in just one week of school.

There's a disconnect between information reported by administration and the teachers themselves to students -- lots of conflicting and contrary information given. And forget about getting real assistance with students with special needs.

It's so bad here that I am actively looking online to determine which other nearby school districts are accepting out-of-district transfer students.

Friendswood Junior high is not a good school. The academics were EXTREMELY unsatisfactory. -Submitted by a Student

FJH has a brand new state of the art facility. It is beautiful. This we are enjoying. My child has had mostly wonderful teachers in 6th and 7th grades. One or two have been bad. The ancillary staff are very nice. As far as the administration goes, I think about half of them need replacing. On the good side, the instruction is high level. On the bad side, a lot of the kids are very snobby and cliquish, and there is a lot of bullying. There is too much emphasis and money spent on sports, and no programs or associations for the gifted kids, while surrounding school districts all have dedicated gifted programs. If my child was academic and not into sports, I would not go here.
