Oppe Elementary School

Love this school. My son was accepted to the G/T program where they children stay in that class for the entire day. Miss Miller was excellent!

Oppe is an exciting school, full of colors and sounds and kids. We love Oppe because it has a great focus on academics, while still allowing kids PE (I have recently heard many parents complain that PE is no longer offered at their kids' schools) and other non-academic pursuits during the day. Mrs Aucoin, the principal, is always involved in activities and has always been available to me when. I've had questions. The teachers are energetic and excited to teach our kids. We are grateful for Oppe!

I have a child in Kindergarten at Oppe. We researched and toured all of the elementary schools in Galveston, including private, charter, and public and feel very confident that we made the right choice with Oppe Elementary. My son's teacher is wonderful - caring, structured, creative and good about communicating with parents. The Principal, coaches, and teachers know most of the kids' names and greet them all warmly in the halls. I would strongly recommend Oppe Elementary.

I have a daughter that is currently in kindergarten at Oppe. Her teacher is absolutely amazing. She is very attentive to the kids and even gets involved with the special events they have and plays right along side the kids. My daughter comes home every day excited about some new thing that she learned! The parent involvement is good and I see several parents there for every party, field trip, or other event. I toured two other schools in Galveston and looked into several more. I am extremely happy with our decision to choose Oppe!

I have a student in kindergarten and she loves Oppe. She has learned so much and made many nice friends. I have taught in 5 elementary schools and have been impressed with what I have seen at Oppe. There is a nice balance of learning while also enjoying school. I helped with Halloween activities and was so impressed walking down the hall to see all the princesses and spidermen hard at work and still learning as they enjoyed wearing their costumes. We have really enjoyed all the extra programs and activities such as Ocean Discovery Night, field trips, running club, library nights, PTO programs, Winter Dinner, visiting authors and we can't wait for the spring carnival! You can tell the staff at Oppe have high expectations for their students and really enjoy what they do!

I have a 12 year old that went to Oppe K through 4th and another child that is currently in 3rd grade there. I believe they have received an excellent education in a positive environment. Oppe holds a high standard for their teachers as well as their students. It shows in their test scores. This is one of two schools I would have my children attend as a Galveston resident; the other Elementary being Parker. The great thing about Galveston schools in general is the diversity. I'm so glad my child has learned how to accept all types of people and different cultures. This is something that you don't get in the typical suburban schools.

THIS IS A VERY GREAT SCHOOL EXCELLENT TEACHERS n COACH. My children love OPPE they are very proud of this school as well as their teachers. Teachers are amazing and very caring.They're bringing the best out of each student.
