My daughter loved this middle school. We moved here from Colorado when she was in 7th grade. She had a great experience. The school prepared her for high school. It's Middle School, so there were some personality issues with some other students, it was not perfect, but the teachers and administration are there to help.

Diversity
if youre gonna have African-Americans and Hispanics go to this school and win games for you.You might want the school to award those students.Coaching staff should go(boy).The school is just really worried about a tall blonde headed blue eyed boys. They dont care the fact that an African-American boy who is attended that school three years You didnt award him anything the coaching staff for the boys all of them should go put some diversity in there put some coaches in there that actually played football extPut some coaches in there that know what diversity is and award everybody that has done something for the team dont just give out awards to back ups and your favorite players. I attended the athletic awards because the coach sent out multiple messages on sports you oh you can come Not a big deal if you cant, but it is a big deal because you sent the message multiple times I am a white woman who had four boys attended and I have never been so disgusted by how they did their awards the coaches are horrible. I watched an African-American woman Who you would think her son wouldve gotten MVP because he played on both teams and those coaches didnt give that young boy not one award and he has attended that school for three years. The coaching staff needs to go. Im sure multiple people can agree.You definitely could tell that that the school does not want to see African-American boys who are raised by their mom Win. I personally would not recommend any body of color to attend this school. I would not tell my best friend who is African-American that is moving to Georgetown to send her kid there because hes a great athlete and you can tell that these coaches dont want good athletes. They want kids who look like their good athletes. They dont want good athletes there because that African-American boy who shouldve won MVP Shouldve won the award and they didnt give him anything that young man had over seven touchdowns and they did not award him Anything. staff for the boys should definitely be thought.

From the first few months of my niece attending school, I noticed my niece was coming home, saying things like, my stomach was hurting and that I don't want to go to school. I'm kind of starting to question the motives of the school staff, teachers and the principal himself.

Benold has exceeded our expectations as parents. Public schools will always have obstacles as every student's home life and background are different. Still, I feel as if a large majority of the Benold staff know all the students, welcome them by name and genuinely care about the overall outcome of the school day for each student. There is a strong sense of community at Benold. Dr. Jayroe, the current principal, has an immense passion for public education and ensures every student feels at home at Benold and in GISD as a whole.

I attended Benold Middle School many years ago, and I have had the privilege of sending my children to Benold, as well. The current principal is a man of integrity who genuinely cares about the school, students, and staff. The majority of our experiences with teachers have been phenomenal, especially the fine arts department and support staff. The teachers are all knowledgeable and work hard to ensure that students are well supported in their academics and their social-emotional well-being. We are pleased to have our next child enrolled in the Fall as his older sibling moves on to high school after 3 great years of being at Benold. She has grown so much in every aspect over her time at Benold. We are excited to see our son flourish and grow in his time at Benold as well.

I was a student at this school, none of the staff cared about mental or emotional health. Some teachers enforced rules that were never created. Teachers purposely failed some students. Teachers disrespected students and expected them to respect THEM.

As a parent of 4 I am thoroughly impressed with Benold Middle School Principals and Staff. They go over and above to make sure all kids succeed. My 6th grader had trouble adjusting to Middle School and the principals and teachers worked with him, and us, to help him not only pass his classes, but rise to nearly all As! Well Done!

Ive been a teacher here a number of years. The Administration has been wonderful in handling the pandemic- putting student/staff/family needs first. Teachers here are more experienced than Ive seen in other schools and are on the lookout for the safety and well being of the children in their care. Ive been very pleased here- particularly with the 2021-2022 Administration.

Absolutely agree with last reviewer about the leadership and the condescension from the principal. I can only think of a single teacher who should keep her job. Everyone else is miserable and says so. Lots of peer pressure to participate in drug use or fighting, both of which are rampant. Tutoring program is a joke. We're considering leaving the district.

I've been a teacher at Benold for several years. I adore my principal and teaching colleagues but I have had it with the central administration. Things are bad for teachers here, but in a way that harms our students. We used to be able to meet together daily and devise strategies to help our struggling learners. We no longer have that option since the district cut our planning time in half. Also, the district is pushing student data as if it is the panacea to all of our problems. Like never before, we are now expected to teach to the test. Our superintendent is oblivious to anything going on (and likely prefers it that way), since the person in charge of the middle schools only paints the picture for him that she wants him to see. Not that it matters since the superintendent has said many times "If you don't like it here--leave." Never mind that some of us have constructive ideas, based on years of experience, that we would like to implement. Speak up and get reassigned to teach at the alternative campus. Such leadership! As a previous reviewer stated: avoid GISD at all costs! Go to nearby districts where people matter. Dozens of former GISD teachers already have.

I have an 8th grader at Benold and an older child at GHS. Georgetown middle schools used to be awesome. Up until 3 years ago, teachers had the time to get to know the students. Then the district gutted the teaching and support staff for the entire district. On top of this the district office went from being a support system for teachers to enforcing compliance with directives led by the middle school asst superintendent. It is not a happy place and as a parent I can tell. There's nothing wrong with Benold that a change in superintendents wouldn't solve. When my older child went here (under the current principal), Benold was a wonderful school. If my youngest wasn't already in 8th grade, I would be sending her to a local charter school instead. GISD is rotten from the top down. Move to Leander or Liberty Hill instead. You won't regret it and your children will thank you for it later.

Being a student at Georgetown High School now, I decide to share what it's like to attend Benold. Awful, absolutely awful. The students act like animals with no level of maturity at all. More students are getting involved with drugs and alcohol at this school, all throughout the year you hear of how so and so got arrested or sent to GAP for doing drugs in the bathroom or having possession of alcohol in school. The students disrespect the teachers and any authority at Benold regardless of the consequences. The administration is doing an awful job at keeping the students under control; students should be suspended if they do drugs or alcohol in school, and if they still continue to be a disturbance they should be expelled. Take advice from someone who has had to live through this school and do yourself and your kid a favor; DON'T choose this school! It's a awful experience that may get your kid into some bad stuff. Choose Forbes or any other middle school.

Benold is an excellent school. The administration cares about kids and the counselors are fantastic! The current assistant principals have been there now three years so turnover does not seem to be an issue as suggested by others. Students are provided many academic & extra curricular opportunities! If you want a campus that takes care of students, Benold is for you!
