The math (especially alg 2) teachers are horrendous. Infact I don't even have a AP pre cal and AP physics teacher. Do not ever touch this school. This school is below average.

this school is impossible to navigate and i've missed my bus because nobody ever wants to tell me where the exit is. it's actually so bad.

1. Communication between the Academic and Administration teams is ZERO. None of the records or information is correct. 2. A lot of emails were sent to the school, but I didn't receive any reply from anyone in these emails. 3. The administration stuff need a lot of training and considering the special needs and accommodation for the students

I am currently a student / student athlete here at McNeil High School and ever since my freshmen year, my experience has been great. This is a great school full of diversity and culture and for me every day is fun. The only "issue" with the school is the delinquents that roam the halls and get into fights, lowering the schools safety score. Most the time, when a fight breaks out, the AP's are quick to jump in to stop it. But the main issue is going to the bathroom. Everytime you step into the bathroom is like your stepping into a smoke shop. These kids never go to class and always smoke up the entire bathroom where it is hard to even breath in there much alone handle the horrible smell of the stuff that they use. Even when an AP comes in the bathroom, they hide in the stalls and they don't do anything about them. Even in the halls they are only told "go to class" with no further warnings or punishment of some sort. This is mainly the ONLY issue in McNeil. Honestly, when I stay in class and don't use the bathroom, they are almost unnoticeable unless they run through the hallways to "escape" the AP's while all snickering amongst themselves. McNeil is a good school academically and athletically since I do play multiple sports here. Honestly this review has turn into a hate speech against the downside of McNeil rather than the good stuff it has to offer. I currently take Engineering and the engineering wing is phenomenal. I recommend this school I just wish they would enforce rules against the thugs or something.

McNeil is a beautiful campus, but it's disrespected by students. They don't get in trouble for these things either. "Get to class" is heard after class has already started by teachers, administrators, and campus police. It's the same students and they never get held accountable for their actions. The .."troublemakers" don't get punished, so of course they do it again. Students who fight, attack other students, severely bully, etc. get too many chances before being sent to the alternative school, if they are sent at all. This goes for General Education and Special Education. They get away with everything possible; from ignoring the dress code to skipping class to being rude to teachers... It's like all kids these days- no punishment = no learning a lesson = no preparation for the real world.7
The Special Education department does their best, but some of the teachers/staff don't care and are just there for the measly paycheck. They will openly talk bad about students and other teachers in front or non-verbal students or distracged

This school has been amazing for my son. As an advanced student, hes had access to great classes that have challenged him while still allowing him to perform well.

The school added a science and technology wing in 2022 to reduce overcrowding. The Engineering wing is amazing with lots of great technology and tools. Those teachers have real world experience to help back what theyre teaching.

The teachers are a mix of good, great and just Ok. But overall, we feel our student is well prepared. We love the great mix of electives! The music department is stellar. The students consistently win lots of academic awards in Debate, Business, Robotics, Computer Science and Engineering.

I would definitely recommend especially for advanced kids!

faculty is terrible, not helpful at all. my counselor gave me none of the classes I wanted. everyone is rude and not helpful. don't go here if you want to succeed in life

Not sure why this school is so under rated , but this is the best place my daughter had very nice and helpful teachers who were always ready to help with the best they could , even the counselors in the school are very nice and give all resources and all the Guidence . Nice good school with teachers who make efforts for students .

Horrible, This places is full of bad people who influence kids to be bad towards other people instead of being respectful as a peer. This place felt like a juvenile detention where students had no freedom of opinion or speech unless if its the same opinion as the teachers and APs. Every single person I know from that place hates that place. I hope theres a procedure to keep this place out of my memory because It was the worst 4 years of my life and Ive been in deadly hurricanes.

When I went there there was homework where we had to review journalist in English and write essays based on them. The problem with that is that this teacher had every single liberal journalist she could find and non conservative so it was just truly a fest of hate toward those with a different opinion.

Extremely politically biased towards the left. Doesnt matter whether its one side or the other, there are district rules that state that teachers should not influence political beliefs. Most classes were just politics not actual learning. Teachers would also threaten students to be suspended if they did not participate in protests. The assistant principals do not help students but do the complete opposite. I asked for help on an attendance issue cause I was present being counted absent multiple times by an unqualified Long term substitute and instead of being helped was given a suspension and detention because they do not care about students just how much paper work or work that they have to do.

Being a leader is to help improve the school physically and also the well being of students and teachers. It is not starting up protests and creating a festival of hate towards people with a different opinion.
