The community is nice, everybody is tight-knit because of the small school population and student-to-teacher ratio; however, the administration sides with teachers no matter the instance. If you have an issue with the administration and or teachers, they will act as though they care and will help you, but they will always side with teachers. Their Student Handbook specifically for dress code is strict, sexist, and overdone for Junior High, as well as their citation and disciplinary system. Most of the teachers at this school are respectful and offer a challenge to learning and seemingly love to teach, while others are harsh, demeaning, sensitive, and petty. They don't care for your emotional well-being and will give you an unexcused absence if you are to skip one school day to, for example, go anywhere but a doctor's visit. For Special Education, this school seems to try with the LRC, standing for Learning Resource Center, which your child is only allowed to use if they have special permission for different testing accommodations, need to do make-up work, or retake a test. This school is wheelchair accessible and has ramps, automatic door openers, and an elevator in order to get to the 5th through 8th section of the school. St. Theresa, overall, I would say, is pretty safe and has new guards around campus, although in other aspects, it has harsh punishments. They have updated the punishment system to include Uniform Violations in addition to Infractions, Demerits, and Office Referrals. Infractions are immediate recess and lunch detention same day, and Demerits are after-school detention. If you receive an unjust Infraction, and choose to contest it, for Junior High, they will simply brush it off and say high schools won't see them. But they do add up, and if you get 3 Infractions, it automatically turns into a Demerit. Family engagement is pretty high for Pre-K through Elementary School, including fun events involving principals and families, but once in Junior High, family engagement is more lax. Overall, I would highly recommend St. Theresa only through Elementary, but once in the Junior High sector, I highly suggest you either find a better private school, or switch to public.

St Theresa is a great community and is a great elementary school. However, their middle or junior high is subpar to public schools. The curriculum is boring and most of the teachers are not very interactive or energetic, leaving students falling asleep in classes. The administration definitely gives the elementary their focus and attention and kind of treats the older kids like babies. There are not a lot of school events, and little to no student incentives. Additionally, the lunch food was expensive and terrible and kids oftentimes would not eat lunch. As an alum, I can say that I felt unprepared for high school as my peers had been taught things in their other previous private catholic schools that were never mentioned to us in the majority of subjects. I would highly recommend St Theresa Catholic School for elementary only, you are better off in a public middle school or another private middle school.

The stellar Google reviews are written by the teachers. Sad and that speaks volumes. If it was a great school, parents would be writing positive reviews but that’s not the case. Poor leadership and unresponsive. Flawed demerit system: demerit for petty errors. Teachers are not held accountable for their immature, demeaning and condescending behavior. Consider carefully and do your research. Gather feedback from parents and not the teachers. I regret having started my kids here.

My daughter joined in 1st grade after attending a Spanish immersion school. She is a summer birthday so I respected the admissions decision for her to repeat 1st grade. She also requires speech tutorials and is dyslexic. We've been told specifically several times that this school will NEVER offer services for dyslexic children. I also believe they felt my daughter a burden on the school because when we applied for our son in kindergarten we were told he wouldn't be accepted and they did not offer him a spot to repeat prek4. There was a lot of back and forth over email and we were told that because he might potentially need speech services they were worried about his behavior too. Note that my son's preschool had no concerns about these unsubstantiated claims of behavior issues. The admissions person told us if he made 1 wrong move during his interview he was out. Let me just say they or she in particular went out of her way to put a stop to our son attending. We've been with this school for 3 years and we were given no advantage to bringing in a sibling. We are catholic and devastated by the lack of Christianity at this school. BEWARE if your child may need extra learning services!!!

I have pleased with my son's experience at the school and enjoy all the after school programs they offer. The teachers are all dedicated to providing the students with the best education possible. Its a tight knit community and they make it a point to get to know the new parents and kids. My child feels very comfortable and accepted here.

Our two children attend St. Theresa. We have been very pleased. The school offers excellent education, and a strong community for our kids. The teaching staff are wonderful, particularly middle school math, English and science. The teachers we have experienced are committed to the kids, and really encourage each student to do their best. The school administration has been very good to deal with and communicate well with parents and students. Athletics are good for this size of school. Our children first attended a highly rated public school when we moved to Houston, but they were miserable. Since the switch to St Theresa, they are happy, engaged kids who actually like to go to school. (Well, they don't like homework, but who does?) I would highly recommend St Theresa if you are looking for a strong education in a caring environment.

A fantastic community-oriented school in a beautiful setting near the best park in Houston. The academics are top notch the faculty is supportive and loving and the parents are great. Our daughter is getting a superior education which will set her up for success for years to come.

I am a long time parent with the St. Theresa Community (20+ years) and the school only tends to get better. It's on the edge of Memorial Park, cozy within a neighborhood and affordable. The school over the years has gone through it's growing pains and now the school is flourishing into a school of excellent. Everyone knows everyone, the kids are happy to be there and it's an amazing experience for the children who start as early as PreK3. My childrern are either alumni of St. Theresa or soon to be. The teachers are amazing, dedicated individuals who love teaching our children, who love to teach and who will provide the skill sets for high school, college and life. My older children continue to communicate with their grade school teachers from St. Theresa for college advice, assistance with assignments and support. At St. Theresa we are a community of faith, friendship and community service. St. Theresa is my home and the home for my children.

I have 4 kids at St Theresa. I have moved to Houston from abroad & have been here just over a year. Love this school. Our transition into a new country & a new school system was smooth & that speaks volumes for the community support from the families & faculty. My kids are performing really well in school. We enrolled mid year & thought the kids grades would drop due to the transition but was so happy that they were thriving at their new school. The kids at St Theresa are so friendly & welcomed my family. The school has a superb learning support teacher at St Theresa. She does so much more than is required for her students. All the teachers are fantastic. The faith formation is a big plus. As we continue to move around the world it is the faith that ground my family. The school say prayers first thing in the morning & all do the pledge of allegiance to the USA & the Texas flag everyday. The whole school attend weekly Mass & have regular visits from various RE organizations. It is a smaller school feel however St Theresa is growing & will continue to grow like their sports program. I highly recommend St Theresa. It is a hidden gem in a beautiful location right next to Memorial Park.

I'm a former student I just graduated and I have to say this, the principle is a bully and is rude to everyone she also has no idea how to teach do your kid a favor and don't make them go there it doesn't help if your kid has a different way of learning so if they are able to keep their mouths closed so the teachers can look at emails and watch videos about random things that don't teach anything (they actually do this) then it's fine send them there but if your kid is not a socially awkward kid that doesn't do what ever his told then don't.

We were so excited when our kids got accepted to St. Theresa's. Our excitement turned to dismay when we received our teacher assignments. Both teachers were well into their 50s-60s and we learned quickly that the method of teaching in both classrooms was very outdated. One of our kids rated as gifted and this school could not accommodate the more rigorous needs. If your child is middle of the road and fits neatly into a box, then this school might work for you. If your child is special in any way and you want a school that recognizes and encourages that exceptionalism or uniqueness, versus trying to mold them into the status quo, this is not the environment for you.

We absolutely love this school. The teachers are dedicated, and the current principal is a wonderful leader. She's supportive of both her parents/students and her staff. I pray she stays! We couldn't have asked for a better school for our daughter. We plan to send her and the rest of our children to St. Theresa's through the 8th grade.

Our 1st grade daughter attended St. Theresa's this year; unfortunately, we had to move back to San Antonio and were unable to complete the school year. Our experience at St. Theresa's was all positive. The principal is bright, energetic, and cares deeply about each student there. The teachers are happy and enthusiastic about teaching; their positive attitudes are evident because the children are so happy. I am a speech-language pathologist and provided free speech screenings for the 3-5 year olds and also worked with some of the elementary teachers to help with modifications to assist a few students. I was most impressed with the teachers with whom I worked; they were already implementing great strategies to help all of the children and were so open to trying anything new to help the students learn successfully. Overall, school is fun, the atsmosphere is positive, and I just wish we could replicate this school in San Antonio. My daughter was accepted to other "prestigious" private schools and I initially worried about my decision to send her to St. Theresa's. I am SO glad I did...it is truly an amazing place to be!

Do not send your child to this school. I am withdrawing my child from this school. My child attended for 2 1/2 years. The principal is very unprofessional, not qualified, and vindictive. She is known for bullying her staff and the parents. She got rid of my child's 3rd grade teacher 2 yrs ago because the teacher begin questioning her about missing budget money. The teacher was dismissed with 3 weeks remaining in the school year. The kids cried for the entire 3 weeks!! The principal placed the teacher under a "gag" order whereas if she communicated with the parents, students, or staff, she would not receive her remaining salary. I found this out from the "expelled" teacher. This year she threatened to expel my daughter, (who has NEVER been in ANY trouble) because she didn't like that I told her my child needed to go to her locker to retrieve her study guide for a test after school dismissal. I pay FULL tuition at the school and participated in multiple fundraising events. I was actively involved in my daughter's school. When the incident with the locker occurred, the principal also threatened to call the police for me....based on (her exact words) "abusive language". I don't like to be threatened, so I told her while she stood in front of me blocking my 9 yr old's path to her locker; I'd call the police for her via my cell phone. I called 911 and the operator said NOT TO EXPECT A VISIT, because abusive language was not an offense. Please note I NEVER USED VULGARITY OR PROFANITY WITH THE PRINCIPAL. She just felt she could intimidate me like she does her staff and the other parents. Nevertheless I made both threats her reality. She threatened to call the police, I called 911 for her. Proving to her, she could not intimidate a paying parent who follows the rules. Secondly, she threatened to expel my daughter, who had NEVER been in any trouble at the school...I sent the principal a withdrawal letter removing my child from the school 5 hours later. If you don't want to experience the bullying and intimidation tactics of this principal, DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILD HERE. I'm financially able to pay full tuition anywhere and I have a child who can get accepted to other schools, hence I was able to not let this lady push me around like the does her staff and the other parents. Oh, by the way, my 9 yr old daughter was standing there crying and begging the principal while she threatened to expel her and to call the police for her mother. My child only wanted to go to her locker to get her study materials for her test, after I had gone through the pick up line, so she could make a passing grade on her test
