I left scared heart this year for this was my last year, this school is horrible. The education is bad and the teachers are rude. One teacher said a racial slur to my friend. Which wasnt okay AT ALL. in elementary one of the teachers hit me on the head with a pencil, no it wasnt on accident, it was on purpose.
He also said very racist jokes to one of my classmates. And whenever my friends told the principal about a bullying incident but she did nothing.

Review for Sacred Heart School, Crosby
I want to express my concerns about Sacred Heart School in Crosby. My children attend this school, but I feel uneasy about the environment. I've noticed troubling behavior from the principal, who seems to engage in gossip about both parents and teachers. This raises significant trust issues for me regarding the safety and well-being of my children. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this school and would rate it lower than two stars if possible.

I grew up in Crosby, and Sacred Heart has always been my church. Now that I have children of my own, I enrolled them at Sacred Heart School because of the rumors about it being academically advanced and a safe environment. We had two great years here until the bullying in my eldests classroom got out of control, and because of this, the students suffered academically. I am now homeschooling and seeing the large gaps in his education, as well as how this place has stifled their imagination and critical thinking. If you speak out and advocate for your children, you are ostracized and bullied by the administrators. The principal will lie and deny responsibility for wrongdoing. Do not trust this place with your children. Parents are not welcomed to be a part of the school community, so if youre looking for a small, tight-knit school where you can feel that you are leaving your kids in safe hands, this place is not it. Fundraising and money are the only things this school cares about, not academics or safety.

We enrolled our child at Sacred Heart with high hopes, based on the impressive history of programs and values previously provided by the school. Sadly, our experience fell short in many key areas.

Academics: Several programs listed here are not available at all including art, cheerleading, dance, robotics, creative writing. What is offered is very limited and often inconsistently delivered. Much of the academic day involves tablet use, with limited direct instruction. As a result, we noticed our child falling behind in foundational subjects, especially language arts and science. Class sizes in many grades are as large as public school classes and detracts from the private school feel.

Staff Turnover: Recent staff turnover rates have been increasingly high and new staff are often underprepared or unfamiliar with the curriculum and are not provided adequate support and instruction by administration. The burden of helping new staff often falls on other teachers taking them away from their own classroom responsibilities.

Bullying: Unfortunately, bullying is prevalent. While incidents are reported to administration, responses are often not received and the responses that one does get felt minimal and reactive. There is not a consistent policy or proactive approach to student behavior or emotional well-being. The inability to handle such matters timely and properly led to significant classroom disruption.

Fundraising Pressure: Families are asked to participate in CONSTANT fundraising efforts. Every activity comes with a price tag to families. While fundraising is common in private schools, it is excessive and tends to be more important than the educational experience and there is no transparency on where funds are spent or what improvements are made.

I encourage any prospective parents to ask detailed questions about teacher retention, curriculum delivery, and student support before enrolling. Whats presented online does not always match whats happening in the classrooms. The information listed on GreatSchools is severely outdated - the demographics listed are way off base and quite opposite of what is reflected. Sadly, we did not feel that our child received the expected level of education and academic experience for the price tag.

Sacred Heart Catholic School is an amazing place for kids to learn and grow. The school has a warm, family atmosphere where everyone knows each other, and the teachers truly care about the students. One of the things I love most is the teachers take the time to make sure every child understands and feels supported.

The school also has high standards, not just for academics, but for character and values too. The religion classes are a real strength; they help students build a strong faith foundation and understand how to live it out every day.

We love Sacred Heart because it combines a great education with a caring, faith-filled environment.

My child has been at Sacred Heart for a couple of years now and while they love the school, we as parents have concerns. We chose private school predominantly for smaller teacher to student ratio. Unfortunately, the past 2 years our classes have been larger than most public schools and the teachers do not have an assistant. It was recently brought to our attention that although the class is large, they could still add more students, which will be a great disserve to both teacher and student. At enrollment, we were told that the students will be taught at an advanced level. As of this time our class is behind in comparison to the TEA curriculum. I find the school lacking in creativity, innovation, technology, and academic programs, all of which should be benefits of a private education. The leadership has been ineffective when it comes to openly communicating with parents. It is difficult to get a straight answer due to lack of accountability and communication. There are instances of bullying that were not documented or handled in a timely manner, again due to lack of accountability in leadership.

We enrolled at Sacred Heart with high expectations hoping that it would meet our needs through 8th grade. However, class sizes are increasingly larger than we would like since we pay for private education. With the larger class sizes, children receive less one on one instruction and there are inherent gaps in student capabilities within the classroom. When asked what opportunities are available for advanced learners, the answer is too just give them more work. While the teachers weve had have been great, they are overworked, often stretched thin and do not receive the proper support from administrators. Additionally, unaddressed behavioral problems in the class have resulted in a decline in the quality of learning for students. There is no consistency in addressing behavioral issues. Administration focuses solely on fundraising and making a dollar while there are no new programs added nor visible improvements to the school. Parent issues and concerns are often dismissed yet we are constantly being asked to give and volunteer. There is excessive emphasis placed on the accelerated reading program which shifts most of the burden to the home while the school fails to readily provide level appropriate reading material for the students. Additionally, there is no apparent correlation between the reading and the classroom instruction. 40%+ of the day is spent on apps on a tablet. Children do not go to the library, participate in computer lab or have an art program. Teachers are constantly burdened with responsibilities outside of the classroom which leads to them neglecting instruction time. Known cases of bullying are prevalent. Communication is frequently last minute and events are often rescheduled or cancelled.

Teachers not only challenge students, but get the best out of them. All 3 of my children have been challenged and in my opinion excelled academically under this faculty's leadership and guidance.

I heard from another parent about this school a couple years ago, how involved the teachers and staff were with the students. I decided to move my family (3 kids; 3, 6, & 8 grad) for the 2018-2019 school year, because their was so much going on in public schools that I was worried about the safety of my kids, I moved from Klein District (which I hear isn't as bad as other public schools). Fast-forward their are only 2 months of school left and my kids truly are happy with the decision to move to a smaller private school, the curriculum is more challenging, but the teachers are there to help the students. My older son has become my child again, he is no longer worried about being bullied or taking up for his smaller friends. The principle of the school is so involved with every student, the staff and teachers are committed to our kids

I love Sacred Heart School, all the teachers and staff. The teachers who are there want to be there and it shows thru the way they teach and interact with the students. The students are challenged and are expected to excel. I give my rating an average though because the leadership has seemed to be more into raising money then being concerned with some of the Activities. I have been involved in the school for many years and It makes me sad that some traditions may end due to the children being unable to fundraise for their activities.

Such a wonderful school! My daughter is on her second year here, and she's excited to wake up in the morning to head to school. The teachers are amazing, as well as the principal! The school has a great connection between teachers and parents. Everybody works hard to make this school so great. If you're looking for a safe environment, great education, and a smaller school where everyone feels like family. I recommend Sacred Heart!

Sacred Heart is a fantastic school. My son has been happy since the first day he arrived on campus. The teachers are amazing and very helpful. There is excellent communication. I would highly recommend Sacred Heart to all those new to the area.

We're new to SHCS and we're so happy to be here! Seeing my child's face light up walking in to the school in the mornings and walk out with that same smile after school, just makes our hearts dance! We know we made the right choice! Thank you, SHCS for all you do for our children.

We moved here this year from another Catholic School in Humble. Our daughter was a strait A Student PK3 - 2nd at the other school and really had to step it up to keep those grades in 3rd grade here. If you want your kid to learn, this is the place. This school is on a much higher level academically and is MUCH more family focused and inclusive. We were asked to leave our other school, you can figure out which one, from several family events because of our Autistic 3 year old. Not the case here. The Principal is engaging, inclusive, and in charge at this school. SO GLAD WE CHANGED. This place is worth the money.

Moved our son here from public in 1st grade and we are now in 3rd grade and still just as happy. We are not Catholic but that hasn't effected a thing and our son is learning so much enjoys the challenge he gets at Sacred Heart. Blessed to call this our school.

So I am in total shock!!! Today when I was having lunch with my daughter for her birthday I asked her if she wanted to go home with me instead of staying at school My daughter told me no... Mom I would rather stay at school and do writers workshop!!! Wow, I now know I have made the right choice in putting my kids in catholic school. I would like to thank you for all you do for my children and the love they have for school and learning.

Sacred Heart School is a school that all others should aspire to be like. The teachers and principle care about each individual student and everything that is going on in their lives. As a working parent I am away from my child more than I would like to be and I feel that the staff at Sacred Heart are part of my team picking up where I leave off. I could not ask for a better example for my child. My only hope is that a high school will be built soon.

Sacred Heart is the best school for my child. She is a new child going from public to private school. The classes are small. The teachers are great and they care deeply for their students. I love that they offer after school tutorials and that they have religion everyday. The kids are great individuals with supportive parents. It is so different from public school. I feel that my child is in the best hands during the day. Ms. Harris the principal is actively involved. She is always checking in on the students as well as the teachers. Could not ask for a better school!!!

My son entered SHCS in 8th grade, after being homeschooled all previous years. This was such a great choice for so many reasons. The class size was small, with lots of teacher interaction, the moral and academic standards were high and challenged him to grow. He played basketball (and soccer) for the school, improving significantly in his game since he could play so much of the game. The strong math and science propelled him to upper level classes when he entered public high school, and he is now inducted, as a junior, in the National Honor Society.

This is the best school in this area period. We toured and investigated private and public schools before moving and Sacred Heart was by far an elite organization. Once we met with Mrs. Harris and the rest of the staff, there was no doubt in our minds that this was the place for our child. We are not Catholic however we were made to feel welcome and very comfortable with the atmosphere as well as the environment in which religion is represented and presented. The curriculum is challenging, but the teachers are highly qualified and truly care about your child s success. The school offers a variety of clubs as well as cheerleading and sports. My daughter loves this school. The only thing I would change is opening it up to grades 9-12!

All three of my children have attended Sacred Heart with the youngest still there in the 6th grade. My oldest child started there 14 years ago. It is one big family of students, teachers and parents with our number one priority being to raise good Christians who are well educated. My older two children excelled high above their peers in public high school when they left Sacred Heart. Sacred Heart teaches children how to learn, not how to memorize answers to the test.

We moved from the Chicago area and were very nervous about which new school to send our daughter to. When we visited Sacred Heart, Mrs. Harris (the principal) put our nerves at ease. We knew from the tour that's where we wanted to send our daughter. The environment was peaceful, very welcoming and the students so polite. It hasn't changed since, we are very happy about the choice we made. It's a wonderful school with great teachers and great principal. We absolutely love it and would not make a change. Academically, they challenge our daughter every day and she is excelling in everything she does getting straight A's.. Showing God's love is first at Sacred Heart and that is what we believe really makes all the difference in all our daughter does. We would not consider public school for that reason alone. We highly recommend this school to anyone thinking about sending their children to a private school.
