We have now had our children at this school for the last 6 years and have absolutely loved it. The education is top notch. The teachers and excellent and truly care about the students. The administration is very approachable and work with parents and students to find the best solutions for any issues that arise. My favorite thing about St. Clare is the community. This is exactly the type of environment we want our children to be raised in. All parents and staff watch out for the children. Children feel safe, welcomed, included, and loved. I would highly recommend St. Clare to anyone interested.

St. Clare is a hidden gem in the Clear Lake area. They are family center and encourage parents to be involved in their child's education. I love the school events and how we can be active members in the school community.

Excellent teachers, especially in early childhood. The front office staff are always attentive and helpful. The community is very good and the other parents are actively engaged with their children's development.

We love this school so much! Our kids like to go there, great teachers and staff. Everyone is very caring for eachother. A safe and good environment for the children. St Clare is one big family and we always feel welcome.

Requests for a child to simply be moved near the front of the classroom to minimize distractions were denied. There is no support system for addressing learning differences.

I wish I could give a positive review, but unfortunately, during the 6 years my family attended this school, our experiences slowly declined in quality, and we left with a profound sense of disappointment.
If you dont question the way things are done and seldom need help or have any issues that need to be addressed, you will be fine, but if a problem arises, it will either be ignored or dismissed. The principal listens to concerns, but there is seldom any follow-up. He often does not respond to emails.
Overall, communication has been an issue; some teachers do not communicate their expectations well, and it leads to a lot of frustration, with little, if any recourse.
As a parent, I have experienced unprofessional behavior from teachers and administration, which has made me lose my trust in this institution. Its an unfortunate reality because I can also credit the school with giving my kids a beautiful gift of faith. The best thing about this school is its religion curriculum and the way the kids are formed to be strong, faithful, knowledgeable Catholics. Now if only the rest of the core education could be as consistent.
The quality of teaching varies year-to-year, and there is only one teacher per grade level. We have had amazing teachers and terrible ones. Language Arts instruction is strong. Math instruction is weak at the lower levels. Some teachers constantly bring new ideas and innovative teaching strategies into the classroom, and some teachers continue to use materials that are outdated, poor in quality, or unengaging and repetitive.
It is apparent that most teachers are kind and genuinely care about the students, but some of them just dont teach effectively or creatively, relying on the questions and answers from the teachers edition textbooks, with no room for out-of-the-box thinking. This was surprising to me because the school takes pride in its advanced curriculum.
Class sizes have also been an issue. Some years, my kids have been in classes of 23 or more students, which is a problem when small class size is one of the selling points of a private school.
In a school of this size, change is a constant, and problems can seem much larger than they are. I know that the school will continue to evolve (and hopefully it improves), but in its current iteration, it no longer is a good fit for my family.

Excellent involvement from school administrators, to the teachers, to the parents! Curriculum is challenging but effective. Teachers have a passion for helping children grow and flourish, both academically and spiritually.

My daughter attended this school from Pre K 3 until 8th grade. I believe this school is the reason she is the wonderful young woman that she is. She is now attending LSU and thriving. I totally recommend this school.

This school does have a lot of homework sometimes but this is to train the student on the amount of homework they will have in high school.

This is my fourth year with the school. I have two children attending now, and next year it will be three. This K-8 school has been great for my children! The Head of School always makes himself available and greets each child every morning as they get dropped off. The school is small, so all the children know each other, and most families are acquainted with each other.

Other posters have commented on problems they've had with certain grade levels or otherwise. This school is no different than any other when it comes to having problems. The difference is because it is small any problem has a greater effect. But I feel the administration has acted swiftly and effectively to whatever issues we have brought up.

My children have attended St. Clare for more than 4 years. One graduated from 8th grade and one is still in attendance. Overall, we are happy with the school. Some recent faculty changes have been so-so. Math at the middle school level is seriously lacking. My child got to high school and has really struggled. My child's classmates have also struggled in math so that leads me to believe that few of them got a good foundation in middle school. My other child is in elementary and is not that happy this year. The teacher is militant and strict. Granted, some students need that but this teacher doesn't seem to like the job or the students at all! My child makes excellent grades and scores high on all standardized exams so the elementary education side seems to be good. However, we will be looking into alternate choices for middle school. The priest has been there for all four years that my child has. Father Vincent knows all the students by name and is very approachable. The principal is very laid back and soft-spoken and is out nearly every morning helping kids out of their cars at drop-off. He doesn't get too upset about things. We are a small community/family.

I am sorry, but remedying the problem by moving teachers from one grade to another is not remedying at all. Until the leadership on both levels leaves then this school will never be anything but sub par. Also, having two kids in public school that also went to St Clare, the curriculum is not one year ahead as the parent says. In fact, much of their curriculum is old and out dated.

I have been a parent at this school for 4 years now going into our fifth. The parents that say there isn't any parent participation are the ones that's don't make the effort! There are plenty of opportunities and the same parents who volunteer are the same ones each time. Both of my children have excelled greatly at St. Clare. I do agree that some of the teachers are lacking but know that there are changes happening to remedy that situation. The curriculum is quite appropriate and is actually a grade level ahead of the area public schools. I have MANY friends with children in the local schools that are in the same grades as my children that are not on the same level of learning as mine. The school is a small community where all the children know each other regardless of age. The older children help out the younger ones. I know that every school has it's downsides- I believe that St. Clare is the right place for my kids. No school is perfect- they are constantly evolving. I am sorry for the parents that didn't find this school appropriate for their kids. All children learn differently. I hope they found their perfect school for their children.

In Aug. 2013 the priest abruptly closed the MDO Program 2 wks before the school yr was to begin, displacing about 50 infants & toddlers (future St. Clare students?) and forcing their working parents to hastily find childcare elsewhere. The school has a definite PR problem on its hands.

People need to be wary of this school. I have a child that goes here and lately the school has gone downhill in a hurry. The leadership form the school and church is VERY questionable and many teachers are not doing what is best for children. The goal of this school has become more about raising money for their new building they are forced to build than it is about educating children of the Catholic faith. Many teachers do not have any flexibility in the way they teach and do not have compassion. Many teachers are there because they cannot cut it at other schools, especially Public Schools. I would use high caution when sending your kids here. There is a lot of money that comes through the school because of benfactors, but the leadership needs to be changed out if this school is to truly blossom. There are some good teachers here but they are mostly int he lower grades pk-3, and 5. Middle School is hit or miss from what I understand.

This school has some really good teachers , but there are some that are flat out awful. Some can teach only one way and if your child does not learn that way then they will struggle in that classroom. The teachers also run the show and the administration allows them to do what they want even if it is very unprofessional. I had two kids there and had to pull one for that reason. They had problems in the classroom and when it was take to the administration and then the priest, it was said to us that it was our problem and not theirs. The early grades has some really good teachers, the middle grades has some very shaky teachers, of which one in particular is very unprofessional and cannot teach productively. She also thinks she runs the school by some of the things I have seen her say to other teachers and parents. I am not sure on the Middle School teachers. If you are in the early grades then you should be fine. Other grades, then buyer beware. I still have one child at the school so this is based on recent information.

There is a previous review that I agree a 100 percent. The teachers do not have the capability to relate to younger children. I do not have words to explain how painful it was to put my child in this school. I received complains continuously about my child behavior describing situation that I have never seen my child do and I really thought my child had issues. I decided to take my child out and changed schools. The teacher s feedback couldn t have been better (reading and math levels are above grade level) and no behavior complains. This review is more than not just being a good match for my child; this is about the lack of KNOW-HOW and WANT TO that the teachers have. The Principle I don t know who he is, I saw him a couple of time directing traffic at the school.

this school was not a match for my daugter, I thought about staying a second year but my daughter is much happier this year in another school. I think the academic level is higher than public schools but I thought the teachers are not as understanding, caring or patient as I expected them to be
