The school has potential to be excellent,but as of now they are average. Some of the faculty and administration in the lower school need to be more educated and update their knowledge. Curriculum and expectations are outdated for young children. Things should not be the same as they were in 2001 or 1980. There are some kind and loving teachers. We very much enjoy the other families.

We are very happy here and will also be sending our second child to PS in the coming years. I feel that there is as much emphasis on character as these is on academics and I think this will be hugely beneficial to my child’s long term success and well-being.

Our son is in Kindergarten and we have not yet experienced any real homework load.

The teachers are enthusiastic about their students: past, present and future. The kids feel this as they walk around campus and I haven’t even heard of a student who hasn’t been excited to go to school every day. It’s a very positive learning environment.

The core values of the school are all about character development. And it’s not just something they say when parents are touring, it’s in the fiber of the curriculum and, as a parent, I see it every day and am happy to see the impact of these core values shaping my child’s behavior and decision making.

The leadership does a great job creating the learning environment. Initially I thought they did a great job also communicating with parents, but since going through the COVID-19 pandemic I think they could be a little more open and communicative with the parents. I feel this way as our second child is currently at a different school and the communication there was better through this ordeal. I’m not entirely sure I’d feel the same if I didn’t have the immediate comparison available.

Again, I don’t have any direct experience, but I have had conversations with the teachers about where the line between rough and tumble play crosses into bullying behavior and am comfortable that the teachers are paying attention, working to let kids be kids, but also working to discourage and identify play that is or may turn into something negative.

Our PK child enjoys drop off everyday, misses school on the weekend, writing capital letters & numbers, and learning phonics. It’s a very happy place that balances academics with the enjoyment of learning.

Within the first month, we noticed a positive change in our child which other parents have mentioned in theirs as well.

All our interactions to date have been very positive, welcoming and open to ideas. People will typically respond your email within a few days.

I do not know at this stage with my own children, but they do have in-house counselors and licensed school psychologist that is able to help identify and counsel children with speech, ADHD, etc. They also now offer speech therapist to come onsight with permission. I’ve heard this is helpful to the parents so they don’t have to drive their kid to an appointment.

We’ve been really pleased with the school so far! The new / renovated facilities is really well done, and the families are all very nice and down to earth. You’ll find a mix of oil & gas and finance executives working downtown, Rice professors, medical center doctors and local old money Houstonians given its location. Many of the families are from out of state or overseas which surprisingly gives it a more global perspective than we had anticipated.

Such an amazing place with incredible, loving teachers and wonderful, supportive parents. As an admissions counselor at one of the top private high schools in the city, I can confidently said that children who come from this school are well rounded, personable, can communicate their thoughts and feelings, are intelligent, and creative. Our school has attempted to recruit teachers from this school and I have friends who have worked there for years but they say they will never leave. It's a fantastic place. If you're looking for a fabulous school (thru 8th grade) in the heart of the museum district with a focus on the arts and humanities, look no further.

PS has a thoughtfully designed and executed academic curriculum, caring teachers, responsive administration, and engaged families. The current student body is well-represented with ethnic diversity.
