This establishment and it’s so called teachers completely and utterly take the fun out of llearning. The English department does not teach, they outsource the teaching to ridiculous on-line programs like NoRedink. My child did NO writing this past year. The Math department also very weak. They zoom through lesson plans to make sure they are teaching to the standardized test. The teachers justify their salary by creaming the kids with “busy work”. With the exception of the horticulture teacher, which was actually engaging the kids, there is no real learning happening. I could print worksheets and present them to my child too, but that is not what REAL educators do. I cannot believe my tax money went to PWCS for such low quality education. In fact, we are moving on to private school. Unfortunately, for all the other kiddos out there that parent’s cannot afford private school, my heart goes out to them. They are getting robbed of a real education.

We have had nothing but great experiences with the teachers, faculty, and other students at BDHS. I know our daughter will definitely miss going here once she graduates!

Our daughter has gone here for three years and she has loved it. She has never had too much homework and has always had teachers willing to help if she needs it.

Our experiences dealing with the teachers has been great. None of them have ever come off as not liking their job. They all seem very dedicated and they have always been willing to help our daughter catch up when we get back from vacations.

100% agree with this! Our daughter has turned into amazing person while attending BDHS, her friends have all been amazing also! Every time we’ve gone to school functions for our daughter all the kids come off as respectful, smart, and genuinely friendly!

Personally we have not dealt with anybody in a leadership role at this school. Every time we have gone to any functions for parents where the principal or counselors speak they have always been very professional and have seemed like they really care about the kids!

They have touched on this at certain functions we have been at. Our child does not use any of the service provided for learning differences but they seem to offer many opportunities if you need them.

There are a handful of good teachers here. Many of the good teachers don't stay for long. The overall the attitude from teachers is that they don't care about the students. (this coming from my student who graduated last year). If your student is self motivated, hard working and naturally smart they will have no problem here. But if you have a student who needs more support don't count on it. They offer lot's of opportunities for help but when push comes to shove many teachers make the process so arduous, the student or parent gives up. In a Biology class 22/25 students scored above a 50% with only one receiving a passing grade. The teacher offered "remediation" but failed to provide access to it in a timely manner forcing the kids to have to scramble to complete it before the end of the quarter. In many instances, teachers do not grade things for weeks so back tracking is a strain and again puts kids down to the wire to make corrections at the end of the quarter. Teachers often wait til the end of the quarter to complete assessments and pile it on in the last week of the quarter, again with no opportunity to fulfill retake opportunities.

The administration is the absolute WORST! Every single one of them! Emails/phone calls are no returned in a timely manner if at all. Deflection, denial and ignore issues is the name of the game here.They are rude and unprofessional. Don't expect mush support from admin at this school. It is clear they are not happy in their jobs and they don't want to be bothered with parent involvement. Site based management does not work at this school. They think they are untouchable and there is no accountability or oversight.

I do not have any experience with this for either of my kids. This school is predominately white and if you are not it is obvious in the way you are treated from what I have heard from the kids.

The absolute WORST! Shockingly sad state of education here. In PWCS we have choices, we don't have to put up with this. The county needs to take a close look at what is going on in this school and make it better. Until someone is willing to render accountability, this school will continue to be a very negative environment for students, teachers and parents. They only thing keeping this school on the map is the Cambridge Programme and that is a TON of additional work and pressure that rarely translates at the college level. Most colleges don't even know what it is and very few schools offer credit. The final test scores do not get reported until Oct AFTER senior year and students are already enrolled at their colleges.

Took many AP courses so I found the curriculum more challenging than average. I wish they would allow freshmen, sophomores to take AP courses, when I attended in 09, it was only offered to junior and seniors.

Awful experience with the teachers. They were not willing to help after I got back from being sick. The math teachers just expect you to know the stuff they are supposed to be teaching you. Science teachers only teach the bare minimum you need to pass the SOL. The French teacher is horrid, expects you to study for a quiz he didn't even tell you about. English teachers make you read the book, but they don't focus on the overall literature, but on the literary devices. Music program is okay, and the PE teachers are pointless. The things they grade you on make no sense. I was even injured (sprained ankle) but since I wasn't on crutches I was forced to participate, while the volleyball players sat in the bleachers because they had a game that day. The administration is terrible, and guidance is a joke. People say that the cambridge program is great, but compared to IB and/or AP it's a joke. The amount of drugs at this school is INSANE.

The principal is cold and uncaring and her underlings are equally as unimpressive. Guidance is a joke. This school needs a major overhaul . Teacher morale seems low . I certainly think everyone would benefit from a complete change in administration. They actually have someone in admin who creeps on former female students...so inappropriate ! Can't wait until my kid leaves that school.

We are new to Brentsville District High School and in the first month of school we have been amazed at how the community is so involved in everything at the high school! Nokesville is proud of their Tigers and the crowd at the football games and other events is proof of that. The upperclassmen have been wonderful to our freshman- not something you see very often! All the teachers are approachable and willing to listen. We are excited for the next 4 years!

My daighter loves this school! Her teachers are awesome and they really care about their students. She had an opportunity to go to a bigger and new school and turned it down to stay at Brentsville. I love the small community atmosphere. Everyone cares about everyone!

Unfortunately doesn't seem to care about those students that struggle to learn or need more motivation. Even with parental support, they seem to want to pass the students on and just get them to "age out" of the system. Special Ed is the worst I have ever seen, with admin and teachers denying basic rights for students to have access to mainstream classes.

Teacher have high expectations for their students here! This creates a challenging academic program for all students. They have all kinds of activities too. It's a shining gem in the county!

Love Brenstiville!! My child loves the enviorment. The school offers a hometown family feeling. My son really enjoys the spanish 2 class. He is excelling in the Cambridge program. Some of the teachers could be better but over all a great learning envirorment.

This school is GREAT! A bit overcrowded, but then again, what school isn't these day? The Principal leadership is lacking, and some of the teachers and administrators are less than qualified, but, what can you do? Now the guidance department on the other hand, let's just say, I wouldn't trust them with any important papers, which means, they can't do there job too well. All in all, this school, though of course flawed, is a friendly and comfortable place to learn.
