Village School is the most incredible learning community that I have ever witnessed; I feel so blessed that my daughter gets to experience Village; and I only wish that my sons could experience a similar environment for their middle school.
Every Village School teacher is an absolute all-star in her/his subject area. My daughter loves every one of her teachers. I feel confident in predicting that my daughter in twenty years will look back at her Village School teachers as among the best educators that she ever encountered. And the administrators are likewise outstanding and professional. The whole school provides outstanding levels of communication and transparency with parents.
I enthusiastically recommend Village School.

My daughter spent one traumatic year at Village, and is now thankfully thriving, emotionally and academically, back at public school. She started experiencing anxiety and panic attacks while a student at Village, which were treated like a discipline problem. One of these events was so traumatic that a year later, she finally confided in a teacher at her new public school about it, and the teacher found it so alarming she filed a report with CPS. IMO, girls from advantaged backgrounds who would do well anywhere will likely be fine. Girls who dont fit the image will have a really hard time. I found the head of school cold, and lacking compassion. Do your due diligence, find out who is on the board, and dont expect financial aid.

As a parent of two daughters who attended this school I can only say it was the best experience for the two of them. For the parent that said "Village School is a place of odd, weird and girls with poor social skills. The academics are similar to honors classes in public school, but the girls there can't handle a normal school. If your daughter is a little different and needs more attention, then this is the school for you." To say that these girls are odd, wierd, and with poor social skills is the furthest things from the truth. The hardest part about this school is getting in. Each year they only take 18 girls and within that group there may only be 12 "real spots" because they take alot of girls who have sisters either attending or have went in the past. The year we applied there were only 14 spots going to outside girls because the other 4 spots were going to families that were already apart of the school.

I graduated from Village School last year, and I couldnt have asked for a more loving, caring, non judgemental, yet still academically challenging cummunity. The teachers were AMAZING and I will always remember what theyve taught me, and my class/ grade was the best group of people Ive ever known! Such a loving spirit-feels like my home. I really felt like the whole school was my family!

I graduated from Village School a few years ago, and It is the best experience of my life. Not only did I get a great education and I was more than ready for high school, I also made amazing friends that I will never forget. I could never thank Village School or Jamie Knorr Enough.
