Just moved to Fredericksburg city and enrolled my daughter in 1st grade here. She cry and she dont like this school At all, she miss her old school in Woodbridge I.e Lakeridge elementary school and she was enrolled in a gifted kids program there but in this school where kids dont even know how to read they didnt transfer her in gifted program and made excuse we dont start this in this grade. I have seen 2nd grade kids there dont know how to read or write and Im surprised what kind of school is this . My kid gets bullied in school and in school bus too. I regret coming in this city and I have no choice to change school no matter how much we dislike it . I talked with principal too about my issues but she gave no solution at all. Im not happy at all with their standards .

Do not send your child to this school. Administration is lousy, teachers are ruse and take short cuts with teaching, cafateria staff screens at the children. Police are out here often which is unusual for an elementary school.

Hugh Mercer Elementary School. I loved my child's first and second grade teacher! Excellent in understanding his needs and discussing what should be done next. Great ADVOCATES for my child. Front office staff is rude and disrespectful. I have been told to take my conversation to the hallway, I am distracting. Well, who are you? Administrative staff is okay, but I don't like the disciplinarian. You can't threaten a child to be good and that's what they do with her.

This school is an average- above average school. The teachers and staff are helpful and caring but I believe they are slightly overwhelmed by the growing number of students and SOL based curriculum. My son has struggled with reading and the staff was proactive and helped me find a tutor. The school is clean. The communication is good. Overall I have found that the school is good and the staff is helpful. No bad experiences to report.
