We have moved a few times and attended various schools-of all the schools my kids attended this one was the worst in our experience and opinion. Academics were especially disappointing; subjects my kids usually loved they ended up sadly hating, math and writing education were sub par in our opinion, and the lack of enriching literature they came home with was really disheartening. Luckily we made up for it by buying a ton of great books on our own. There is no talented and gifted program at this school (!) just a general "Genius Hour" where all kids attend a one hour teacher led craft... sadly this takes away the opportunity for higher achieving kids to be challenged. I will also add that the principle was never very personable and seemed out of touch with parents compared to other experiences we had-disappointing experience overall.

Absolutely wonderful school! Its like a little country day school where everyone knows everyone! Ive had 2 children in this school and every year has been and is still amazing! Broadus Wood is a little slice of love in the heart of Earlysville. Im so thankful to be a part of the Bobcat community.

Staff make a point to role model the behaviors that are expected in their students. The counseling department does a wonderful job working with the teachers with lessons and activities to develop strong character.

A change in leadership (new principal) in 2017 has made a huge difference in the overall feeling of the school. Staff feel valued and have input. Students and parents are welcomed. Problems are addressed quickly and effectively.

I am proud to say my child attends Broadus Wood. The teachers, staff, and principal are amazing. The PTO is very active and really supports the school. BWES is a smaller elementary school which gives it a family like vibe, my son knows all the students in his grade level -- not just his class.

Teachers are vested in their students success. Class sizes are smaller and therefore kids receive a lot of individual attention -- something that is not always the case at larger elementary schools.

All three of my children attended Broadus Wood. The school has an amazing community feel, teachers are committed to providing a quality education to all students, and the administration is always helpful.

I have been a Broadus Wood parent for 6 years now. The school feels like home to my family. My concerns have always been resolved quickly and my children have flourished. It's a small enough school where both parents and children can truly make a difference!

I was very nervous about enrolling my children in public schools, but the principal, teachers and office staff made our experience wonderful! Even the other students are great! BWS is like a family; Everyone helps each other to learn and grow.

This is my third and last child to attend BWS. We had moved from the area and came back so he could go to BWS because it was such a great school for the others. I have been disappointed since before he finished his first year. I have never seen such unhappy teachers.The principal, teachers and staff are unable to get along among each other. They should be a team. The sol test scores have continued to go down with the passing years. My child had a teacher last year who did not believe in sending homework home because every child didn't have a home computer. She sent 1 math work sheet a night. Since we have been there more and more parents are taking their children out and putting them in private school. Something should have been done about this some years ago. She is coming back this year. Many parents like myself work with our children at home after school. We have a teacher who removed her children from this school and put them in private school, says a lot about BWS. I wish that we had not come back to BWS it's the school it once was and can be again. The supernatant should take a honest look at this school and make the changes to make it the great school it can be.

We are changing schools thanks solely to the ineffective leadership of the principal. Bullying is encouraged by lack of appropriate action and this has everything to do with the attitude of the principal. Be warned that if your child is bullied, not much will be done to stop the perpetrator of the crime! Teachers are awesome, and so are the parents and front office staff

Love this school. Lots of activities and parent involvement. Office staff great - knows every kid and parent. Teachers are great.

Broadus Wood is a great school. My child transferred there from another school and I could not be happier. We were welcomed into the Broadus Wood family with open arms. The teachers and administration are wonderful to work with and the facilities are nice. There is always something going on and it is a fun learning environment.

Broadus Wood is an excellent school, with dedicated, energetic teachers. Class sizes are really more like private school; most classes have under 20 students. The administration is very active and communicative. I have two children at the school, both have been enrolled since kindergarten, and I couldn't be more pleased!

BW is NOT a great school. We moved into the BW district after having been to several other schools. One of the "worst" Title 1/low-income/high-minority public schools in Cville was better than this place- better administration & teachers. BW- the teachers we had seemed dispassionate and parent-school communication was sorely lacking. My son's grades went from straight As to Bs & Cs, and yet he aced every SOL test at advanced level. If your kid loves doing nothing but worksheets, they will love it at BW. The current administration is just.. off. Talks down to all parents like we are kindergarteners, talks in circles without saying much of anything, totally over-the-top on discipline. They suspended a boy out of school for 2 days for aiming a banana at another kid while playing. Seriously?! Oh, and God help you if your family isn't 100% WASP. The only thing I liked about this school was the office staff- they were very nice and helpful.

What an amazing school. As a former teacher, this is the place that I only imagined when I studied education. The teachers, administrators, staff and students all seem to LOVE being there. I am thrilled to be sending my children there and pinch myself when I think that this is a public school. Can't imagine better.

Broadus Wood School has an excellent principal, teachers and staff. Teachers are always trying to bring the best out of each student regardless of natural ability. I love volunteering at Broadus Wood.
