My son flourished at this school. We moved from Northern Virginia where schools are very competitive. I was extremely impressed with the forward thinking of the teachers and interactive use of classrooms and the outdoors as well as often cross-teaching amongst subjects to help the children put skills to use. Science and Math classes are often integrated as well as History and English classes. My son made some amazing friends and adored all of his teachers. The principal is also very impressive and her commitment to the kids and the school is unparalleled. Very happy my son was fortunate enough to attend Crozet Elementary.

General attitude among teachers/leadership is to ignore problems and hope they go away.

I would not send my child to this school. They ignore problems, keep parents in the dark. If your child attends this school prepare to be an advocate for him/her if there are any issues.

There is very poor communication from teachers and adminstration. They are all smiles on the surface but there are issues behind the scenes.

Teachers are inconvenienced by students with different learning needs. They tend to inflate grades, promote students and just pass the buck.

I highly encourage anyone concerned by the 3/10 rating to visit the school and to ask other parents their opinion. I am very surprised by this rating and believe it is inaccurate and misleading. Both of my daughters have attended Crozet Elementary and we have been very happy with their education. My daughter having graduated and moved on to Henley was well prepared to enter the advanced classes that she is taking.

I am shocked that this school is rated a 3/10 on this site. We have had a wonderful experience at Crozet Elementary from 2010 to 2016 with our son. The teachers that he had were all very keen on individualized education and giving boys the space they need to experience learning while still acknowledging their need for activity. The community is great, and we are walkable/bikeable from the school, so our son felt very intertwined in the community of the school and his friends. Most importantly, he excelled, and seamed to gain leaps and bounds each year. He exited 5th grade reading on an 8th grade level and is headed towards advanced classes in middle school in all subjects. He loves to learn, and I attribute that to the great teachers and staff at Crozet Elementary School. My son did things that even *I* didn't think he could do while he was there. Brilliant school! I recommend it highly! Score should be at least 9/10 (because no school is perfect)!

We were a part of the Crozet Elementary community for eight years with our two kids. We loved this school! It makes me sad to hear people moving to the area deliberately trying to avoid this school district. I welcome those people to tour the school and talk to the teachers, the parents, and the kids that actually attend the school! The Great Schools rating certainly does not reflect the majority's experience at Crozet. You will find a welcoming and caring community focused on each and every student's well-being, not just test scores, ratings, and amount of PTO fundraising. Class size, number of classrooms per grade and total population is half that of the other area elementary school. Bigger is not always better!

This school is truly one of the best kept secrets in Albemarle County! My children (now 10 and 8) have thrived since we moved here almost 5 years ago. We love that the student body and teachers are culturally diverse!

When comparing schools, look beyond ratings and evaluate in person each school to see which is the better fit for you and your family. We did and we loved this school.

We love Crozet Elementary! It is a unique community that fosters creativity and innovation while learning. My children are very happy there and we have had excellent teachers for the past three years. The principal knows all the children by name and greets them each morning. I feel grateful for the warm environment and the resources available to the kids!

Our children have been happy at Crozet Elementary. Learning and achieving, yes, our children our doing very well both with grades and SOL tests. But the fact that they are happy and that they are enjoying learning for learning's sake - what a great foundation to lifelong education! Moreover, the school strives to create not only bright learners but also good citizens. Citizenship - respect, kindness, community participation, listening - is stressed and taught. We are happy that our childrenn are learning not only good scholastics but also to be good citizens and growing into happy, smart people. Because of the small feel of Crozet Elementary, our children feel valued and important.

This is our second year at Crozet Elementary and we have been totally blown away by how wonderful the experience has been. The staff and administration are extraordinary and always make themselves available to students and their families. The school as a whole does an amazing job balancing what needs to be taught (standard-wise) and what should be taught. My child truly loves going to school each day and as a family, we so appreciate being at a smaller school that really does have a community feel.

This school needs to be more concerned about bullying. My grandchild complained all year of name calling etc.Teachers need to be more aware of their class students,and pay more attention to the students complaints.
