The TA's (teaching assistants) nurses office, cafeteria staff and even janitorial truly care about the kids but the teacher and the administration are absolutely terrible in dealing with the students. As you can see by the fact that the school is performing in the bottom 20% in the state and the bottom 15% in the country. Spending 20K per student and getting these results should have parents with pitchforks showing up at the school board but the school board and the supervisors just let half of the schools in this county be dumpsters while the rich kids in the Crozet area, like Brownsville and and at Western Albemarle High School get the Taj Mahal schools my kids are bused from way south to go to this hellhole of a school. (Nice facilities, equipment and furniture, do not make up for incompetent staff.

Online learning is inappropriate for my 2nd and even my 5th grade student. Sending an email is not school.

DeeDee the old Principal drove this schools ratings into the garbage heap. We have some hope for Mtn View Cale now that new administrators have forced her out of her job

This is an exceptional school, largely due to the leadership of Mrs. Jones. She is a passionate educator who cares about the well-being of each child. During her tenure, she has created one of the most welcoming environments I have ever encountered. Mrs. Jones and her staff celebrate the rich diversity of Cales student body which is what truly sets this school apart. I have two children in the Spanish Immersion Program and could not be happier with the education they are receiving at this amazing school.

We couldn't be happier with Cale. The dual-language program is incredible, the parent involvement is high across demographics, and the administration works very hard to make every family feel welcome and valued. My daughter is happy every day when she gets on the bus.
I've taught at numerous schools in my career and I have never seen a school faculty that seems so determined, dedicated, and HAPPY. It is a testament to the support the administration gives to their faculty, and that positive energy permeates the entire school.
At the beginning of first grade my daughter is reading on grade-level in both English and Spanish, and we are very excited to send our younger child to Cale next year. In fact, we had consider moving to a larger house at some point but houses sell so fast in this district (and we refuse to leave Cale!) so we're staying put until our kids have had the chance to finish elementary school.
So many of our friends in the area are hoping to move into the Cale district so they, too, can send their children. We love Cale.

Upon deciding that we were going to relocate to Charlottesville, we visited a total of four schools in the Albemarle County district. While we were impressed with all of the schools we visited, each member of our family agreed that Cale was the right fit for us. The principal, Mrs. Jones, took time to share the mission of Cale with us before we toured the school. From the moment we stepped through the doors, we were amazed at how alive Cale is! The mission of the school reverberated through the hallways and through each classroom we passed. We saw technology being used in real and innovative ways. We saw students collaborating with one another on real-world projects, and, above all, we saw happy students and staff members in an environment that celebrates achievement and diversity.
We continue to be confident in the decision we made to send our children to Cale. We are greeted each morning with a friendly smile from staff members who have really taken the time to get to know our children. From day one until the very last day of school, our children are encouraged, supported and challenged in ways that have helped them grow academically and emotionally.

We love this school. We actually moved from the city to the county just for the Albemarle County schools, and especially for Cale. My children both have had a just a phenomenal experience at Cale. Every teacher, every staff member and even the school administration are superior in every way. They are friendly, warm and supportive. And, they all really know their stuff. The school does a wonderful job of meeting each student s needs (all levels, whatever they may be). The parent involvement is amazing and the PTO and the school administration make it easy to be active in your child s education. It s truly an amazing place and an exceptional part of the community. We have loved every moment of our children's time at Cale. Both of my children have always been happy there, they have excelled in their academics and they have loved their teachers. Thanks to Mrs. Jones and her staff of dedicated professionals, this is easily the best elementary school in the area. I have never heard even a single parent complain about the school in any way or the experience their child has had at Cale. 10 out of 10.

Love, love this school. Both my children struggled with reading and I am proud to say that with the support and guidence they received in their elementary years has helped them achieve straight A's in middle and high school. I also wanted them to go to a school with diversity because treating everybody with equality is very important to me! {real world} Teacher to student ratio (when extra teachers are pulled to help out during literacy/math/special projects) is 1 to 5. The staff is top notch and treat each child as an individual. They teach the students to be responsible, respectful, and ready to learn. Cale was recently expanded and although there are over 500 students, no one would never know because the way the staff cleverly manages the student population. With regards to parent involvement...drive by any event and you'll see for yourself. This is a wonderful school and my advise to you is to observe a classroom, go during dismissal, or attend a school function and see for yourself!!

We moved to the area just for the Albemarle County schools, and especially for Cale. My daughter had a phenomenal experience at Cale Elementary. The teachers and administration was warm and supportive. The school does a good job of meeting students needs, whether they need an extra challenge, or need additional support. High parent involvement. A great community of students and parents. We loved our time at Cale.

Great school! Love the staff here, teachers are awesome, great class sizes per teacher ratio. Nice inside as well, they really take pride in the school, I have had 3 kids through here so far and loving it.
