Sherando High School and failed to adapt to the new modern era. It is an overwhelmingly small school that can keep pace with the growing population. Given the fact that is small town the teachers are family with certain students and because of that they overlook other students. Lack of encouragement and support is a huge factor in this review. Unless your grandparents went to this school, please be cautious.

Terrible school this school is a big problem for kids nobody in this school cares about the kids there the staff are not concerned about helping the kids when there is a problem no guidance no help when the kids are struggling with bullying or unheard they allowed kids to do bad things the school nurse doesnt care at all what a shame and they are very racism please be aware if you let your kids go to this school be prepared for headaches worse experience ever

Horrible school. When I went to school here it was the worst time ever. They do not care at all about children being bullied and was such a toxic environment. The super intendants in the area are even worse. Luckily I had a great college experience after with supportive staff and professors.

when i first came here, I was stuck on where to go. as the days went on I became aware of where o needed to go, some days were a bit rough but hey I got used to it over time!

There is a good amount of homework, its not overwhelming for the students.

My daughter has had great success at Sherando and the staff is very helpful in assisting with advanced studies, governors school and dual enrollment.

Once you get to junior/senior year, homework is often something that is optional, or something that will not affect your grade. Some teachers will even start by saying that homework is a grade, and as the year goes on, never will check it. This leads to cheating because students don't know the material and find themselves cramming it into the night before the test. Ultimately, I don't believe this is a bad thing, because in college there is no homework; you must take it upon yourself to study every night without the help/motivation of a teacher/professor. Those who aren't forced to care (everybody) realize that they'll have to one day in college. Not caring doesn't cause us to forget HOW TO care, it just allows us to not care about school, which is fine (as long as you get good grades) until college.

I honestly do not know anything. I really don't. I got good grades on everything but I only learned from teachers whose classes I actually enjoyed. The fact that you can simply opt to not care yet still get good grades signifies that teaching isn't effective upon its own merit.

The school's lack of care in regard to bullying forces students to learn how to stick up for themselves, which I believe is good, because you'll have to do this in the real world. Sherando creates either strong and confident children, or careless low lifes.
