The school district allows bullying, and has bullied kids themselves. As well as not respecting people's votes or voice when it comes to the levy's, or anything. Teachers frequently strike. Last year they bribed students to walk out with them with a pizza party at the city park. Not a good district at all.

Yelm High school has been a good place for both of my children. They school curriculum is explained well and the orientations they present each year are great to get your questions answered.

I have been super impressed with YHSs variety of classes offered and the planning that goes into helping students prepare for post high school. There are SO many offerings that allow for students to get a glimpse/experience of what they would like to do post HS graduation. I really appreciated the HS orientation for my ninth grader.

This school will alter votes on donations and says that you choose the electives, even though they will force electives on you. the students just want to get high school done and teachers do not like their jobs. I recommend timberline or eagle view for your Child's sanity.

I absolutely loved my experience at this school. I didnt know how good I had it until I was forced to transfer my senior year. The arts program is amazing, their teachers care, and the students are excellent.

It varies from class to class but I always receive homework that was relevant to the curriculum and was given an appropriate amount of time to do it. I understood the work and if not the teachers were always available to help.

I mean... they try? They are always teaching these values to students but whether or not the students listen is entirely up to them.

It was a little much? I always found that leadership activities were affective, but at the same time they were always loud and over enthusiastic. They were optional though, those of us who have sensory issues or just dislike assemblies would always go to the library until it was over.

My younger sister is a student this year at YHS and she has a learning disability. Her teachers have scheduled several meetups with my parents to discuss the special curriculum they have set up for her. They are doing their best to make sure she succeeds at school.

Everyone at this school was amazing but every now and then there would be bullies. Fights and physical violence were rare but verbal abuse was common. When teachers caught students in the act they were promptly punished, but often the students being bullied would be too afraid to tell a teacher and the bullying would continue.

I am currently attending YHS as a sophomore and I have mostly really great teachers but I also have a teacher who is set on sending students out of class for the smallest infraction making us miss vital information instead of trying to properly correct us.

I personally love the atmosphere at YHS the people are not bad you just need to find your spot in it all. Yes there are a lot of people who are mean are bullies but you only get put in the spotlight if you put yourself there. I feel that the biggest problem here is security always up everyone's business, and students who bring large amoints of drgs on campus

Worst high school ever for harassment and bullying from the teachers themselves, and staff will only defend teachers even if student has other teachers as witnesses or students. Challenged kids are especially made fun of usually when the teachers get together in the library. It is unacceptable and needs to change. I myself have experienced harassment from a teacher and told them to stop or I will be contacting the school board, and was threatened with a lawsuit! Students there are on the other hand are very great, there isn't much fights or student bullying. Everyone gets along pretty well and drugs don't seem to be a problem (inside the school) Other then the incident of smokers in the bathroom! The only thing I would like to see change, is the fact that they allow certain kids to smoke in the nurses bathroom and the harassment from the teachers the students receive constantly including myself. They keep talking about stopping bullying, and having a good school environment. Its not always the kids that make the environment good, and they need to solve this issue with the teachers! Please send your kid to another school until this issue has been possibly solved.

I attended yelm high school from 2010 to 2012, and it was terrible. There is no respect for academics, and everyone is so involved in how they want everyone in the school to see them as that it gets in the way of learning. There are a few okay teachers but, even the okay ones like to choose favorites and it's very unsettling. If you ever find your self having to attend this school, go with there home link program, you will finish quicker, and you won't have to deal with everyone's pointless problems.

I am giving Yelm High School 4 stars out of 5 because I believe YHS is one of the schools that you get out of it what you put in. I have been in honors and AP classes and have found most teachers to be dedicated. Although the school lacks in a swimming pool, a winning football team, or covered walkways YHS truely has a community based feel. Yelm High School is VERY unique in having Dollars for Scholars for graduating seniors. Many seniors receive 1k for college which is something very unique for the state of Washington. I recommend YHS for dedicated and spirited students.
