It’s refreshing to find a Catholic school that focuses on what is important - teaching students how to read, write and do math, all intertwined with the truth, goodness, and beauty of the Catholic faith. Teaching is done in the rhetorical style, so the children are engaged. They are held accountable here, not enabled. They will study Latin and grammar, and the beauty of nature studies. They will be exposed to classical and sacred music. Children will learn the history of Western Civilization and why it matters. Classrooms are clean and orderly and free from distraction. The school offers an authentic pre-K Montessori program that fits well with a classical model of teaching. The St. Charles leadership understands the end goal of developing children who can think critically and live out the Catholic faith - and strive for sainthood. Grateful St. Charles is an option for our family.

This school has major leadership issues!!’ We didn’t have a principal all year last year, and this year the new principal “had health issues” a week before school started. So another year with no principle and now no vice principal either. Is that safe? No! Especially with a target on Catholic Schools. This is how we were expected to enter the school year? Blows my mind!
Militant Laura Lucas will make sure to run the school like a military and no fun will be had. No parties. No having fun at this school. She lacks empathy and a heart for families struggling at all. Catholic education is drilled in, and the teachers (if they don’t fire them) are amazing. The office staff is spectacular!! Father will not follow up with you if you have concerns about how the school will run. Classical education with the potential to be good but not right now. Not under this “leadership.” Can you imagine a public school with no principle or even nice principle? Insane!!! Expects the world of their families but can’t provide it in return.

The only classical Catholic option in Spokane for pre-school-8! This school knows who they are and implements the curriculum beautifully. The Catholic faith is integrated throughout all subjects, there is no watering down as we have experienced in other "catholic" schools. The teachers and administration are phenomenal.

So glad we found this school when the rest of the world was losing its mind! The leadership has done an amazing job at building community and the move to a solid "Catholic Classical" curriculum was the best decision they could have made!!
One of my sons was reading at a 3rd grade level at the beginning of his 6th grade year. The teacher was able to give him the necessary attention because the class sizes are reasonable. He was able to read at grade level by the end of the year. Truly amazing!!
I cannot speak highly enough of this school and recommend it to everyone that cares about the "whole person" your child is becoming.

The staff is supportive and really cares about their students. The parish priest, Father Sean, is fun, energetic, and amazing with the kids.

My child shows signs of ADD, and the teachers are always willing to meet with us and try new things to help her.

Posted: April 24, 2019

We experienced one bullying incident, and the principal and Father Tom contacted us to discuss what happened and actions to take before we even complained to them. We moved her to St. Charles after bullying in public schools became unbearable.

My child's teachers have used various communication and tracking methods for us to keep tabs on her homework assignments. Having these multiple methods helps with children who have different learning and organizational styles.

The curriculum is rigorous, and grade inflation is not an issue here. I have an 8th grader, but people I've talked to say that students are well-prepared for high school.

Service and compassion are a huge focus in the education at St. Charles.

My only regret is that I didn't pull her out of public school sooner. St. Charles is a nurturing and supportive environment for children.

Any school that fires its three most senior teachers just days before the new school year begins needs to look at how it approaches compassion, kindness, bullying and character. Children see this modeling behavior.

Parents, please look into how this school treats their present and past teachers. Having good teachers for your child is important. Having Administration and Father being honest and respectful towards the teachers is important. Not much said about how Honest this school can be. The best kindergarten teacher had taught there for 25 years. She was the first kindergarten teacher to help teach your child to make the correct sound to the letter. She was the teacher that really focused on the catholic faith for your child. She was the teacher that stayed late after school making sure the classroom was clean for your child. She was the teacher that took the time to make sure they were dressed appropriately for the weather. She was the teacher that gave everyone a good choice note, and those are a big deal for any child.... how is it that she was the teacher that also got let go, 3 weeks before school starts.... for NO reason? Please explain!! Oh, and she wanst the only one 3 more teachers got let go as well... They told her, its because of to low of teacher and school funding? Also, Low enrollment? And today they just hired a new kindergarten teacher??? Wow.... just saying.... thats is NOT ok. Thats a taste of descrimination!! Parents?? I wouldnt watch out for the reputation that is being labeled on this school now. It can very well get labeled on to you... Not very Catholic School like!! This school is money hungry. 3 Families that have invested tons of time and money are leaving St. Charles because of this issue. Please dont be afraid to ask the school priest, whats is his future plan for the school...?? With families and teachers leaving and good solid teachers being let go for no reason is what kind of start for St. Charles. Who next on the choping block... just makes you wonder

Not a place I would recommend. Which I had kept my children at Assumption. Now one is in public school and the other is in a charter school.

My daughter was being bullied...multiple trips/phone calls to her teacher/the principal and Father Tom. Nothing was done. It became very clear that because the bully was one of three children attending St. Charles vs my child being the only one, the school didn't want to upset the family of the bully. As losing tuition for a family of 3 would be a greater hit than losing our tuition next year.

St. Charles is not afraid to think outside the box to get your child the quality education they deserve! Technology is a must these days and St. Charles has a full computer lab for kids plus computers for the classrooms. St. Charles educates the whole student not just academics, it's a wonderful place for kids to thrive. Go talk to the Principal and ask how St Charles test scores stack up against local public schools!
