We enrolled our student at Life Christian Academy and withdrew them due to unaddressed bullying. Ours was not an isolated experience. Families have left the school and parents still at LCA report that bullying complaints are not being adequately addressed. Meanwhile, their reputation for not addressing bullying is growing in the Tacoma community.

Beyond the bullying concerns, the school spiritual culture has changed. It used to focus on students’ personal faith journey, now the spiritual teaching has moved to much more conservative black and white theology.

A few things worth knowing if you're considering LCA:
* Credits may not transfer to Tacoma public schools.
* Bullying complaints are met with minimal consequences and little follow-through.
* The school is not the positive and open environment it once was.

They hold themselves out as a school grounded in Christian values and a genuine commitment to student care. Our experience didn't reflect that. I'm sharing this because I wish someone had shared it with me before we enrolled.

Defended people that assaulted me and refused to report it to the police and then blamed me when the police scolded them when they confronted the school.

Our son joined LCA in Pre-School and is now in 1st Grade. He enjoys school and this has been contributed greatly by the wonderful teachers and the general atmosphere of the school. I love the school, he is taught in an environment that promotes values of christianity, positive learning and development which are very important at the foundation level of kids for better lives as they grow older. I am very happy to be part of the LCA family.

Life Christian Academy is a safe, happy, expressed atmosphere where children can learn the beauty of traditional, faith-based values. They not only get a wonderful education by incredible teachers but they get a sense of self, one of purpose, community and prosperity through service. This school is a safe haven. We are so blessed to have found it for our two children.

The staff, families and students are very welcoming to new families. My children and I have had an amazing experience at LCA. The standard for excellence is there and you can feel it. I love being able to talk about God and have Christian values instilled in my children daily. You can tell that the teachers genuinely care about the students.

I love the class sizes (small) the personal attention my children get here. My oldest son is in 3rd grade and has been coming since preschool. And my youngest daughter just started kindergarten after also attending preschool here. I wouldn’t want them to go anywhere else. I love this school! The staff! The Bible based educational care they provide is very up lifting and personally it’s the best thing I look for in a christian school. My children are not only being educated in a very high standard school academically but also spiritually. The staff here give you a family atmosphere. They care about each child individually and cater to their needs. I plan on keeping my children here until high school graduation.

I have never seen my daughter so happy to get back to school every week. Desires to have all A's in her test. She is very happy and speaks highly of teachers and constantly telling me how the teachers are nicer than her last school. She does not want to attend any other school and always pleading not to switch schools again. I see the positive attitude as well. She says the students are friendly and does not feel bullied at all.

If you want your kids to grow in Christ while getting an excellent education - LCA is the place to be! Our kiddo raves nonstop about her teachers and classmates, admin is always friendly and welcoming. By the second month in, it honestly felt like we were there our whole lives. The staff keep parents well informed. Can only speak highly of the elementary school principal as well. Love how they try and get parents to join in as much as they can with volunteering - and it also lets parents have a glimpse of what they're kids are doing on a daily basis! The curriculum is one of the best private schools can offer as well. 10/10 recommend!

We switched from public to LCA and have had a great experience. The staff and administration and are very attuned to the kids and approach any issue from a comprehensive standpoint. They keep parents well informed of their students' progress - both good and bad! They also keep the family involved with the school and send out communication of special events. Instruction and classwork is so much better than what we were used to having at public school and our kids comment on how calm the classrooms are and how much more respectful the students are during classes.

We are a new family to LCA and have been welcomed with such kindness and friendliness. The staff and faculty have been amazing as well as the families and students. My kids have been very happy with their classes and teachers and are excited to learn. The teachers are engaging and excited to teach. The curriculum is great and if you want a school that doesn't put up with the added drama of phones and the other craziness, this is great. They want students to focus on learning and engaging with each other. We are all so happy with out choice of LCA.

We've been incredibly blessed to have our kiddos attending this school for the past 5 years. We appreciate their commitment to teaching truth and biblical values in a cultural environment that can make it difficult to do so. If you're interested in sending your kids to a school that stands firm in their values, this is a great place for them!

I graduated in 2005 and loved it. I couldn't wait to come back with my children. This place is home. The staff is genuine, they are doing their best to love and uphold Biblical views in this ever changing world. They are steadfast.
I am impressed with their professional development and Integrity. I am so grateful to send my children to Life Christian and am incredibly blessed to be an alumnus.

Would give zero stars if I could. Please don't send your kids to this school. The teachings do not reflect the Bible and represent hateful, discriminatory views. If you don't want to cause trauma to your kids, don't send them to Life Christian.

As a former "lifer" and one of the few student athletes to go on to play D1 sports, and someone who's family has been a large part of the church for 4 generations, I can speak with certainty the trauma this place causes. I've watched it decline more and more since I graduated. The grade level education does not meet the level of education at public schools and especially does not compete with other private schools. Many students who left Life Christian felt under prepared at other schools because of the gap in education. Math and science programs are purposely under funded.

The nepotism, rampant misogyny and over sexualization of young women, and unhealthy power dynamics should send any parent running from this institution.

We enrolled our daughter for the 2021-2022. they are the same (in my opinion) as a secular public school, but with a a religious veneer.
their curriculum, in my opinion, is actually below the public school system standards. If the staff suspects you have violated a religious principle, they will make an announcement on a public PA system for all students to hear and call you to the office. This school will open your child to the possibility of being ridiculed and humiliated due to their indiscreet PA system of calling students to the office.

My son attended Kindergarten at LCA and we were both very happy. He is now in 3rd grade in public school in another city and he still tells me he misses LCA. His teacher was so loving with the kids, as were all of the teaching aids and school staff. There was an aid named Ms. "C" who did special little wood-working and art projects with the kids after school, my son loved her. Many of the other mommies frequently told me how much they loved their high school children attending LCA; one mommy told me she felt like all the teachers and staff were like aunts and uncles to her kids. I will say, the small drawbacks were that not being a wealthy, well-known member of Life Christian Church, as a parent, I sometimes felt "little." This could have been my own insecurities, but some of the other parents I knew at the time mentioned similar feelings. But, that's anywhere! There are always going to be kids who's families have more money than your kid, or more important parents; and we could have made more of an effort to be involved as well. If we ever moved back to the area, I would definitely consider enrolling my children here again.

I have to say something after reading these reviews. I have gone to Life Christian my entire life and have felt so overwhelmed with love from the staff. The teachers genuinely care about the students academically, emotionally, and above all spiritually. Reading these reviews most of them are outdated and almost all the complaints have been taken care of. My school always strives to improve and listens to feedback. Life Christian is a great community and school. I have learned so much there spiritually and academically. I love LCA it's my second home and if you are considering enrollment I would strongly suggest it. The school is obviously not perfect but it is a true Christian environment. The kind of compassion and leadership the coaches, teachers, and administration show is something I honestly don't believe you'll find anywhere else. I love my school and though it may not be for everyone it's a place that is blessed with true Godly men and women.

I was a student who graduated from Life Christian recently. I have attended both private and public school throughout my schooling. Many comments on written below seem to complain about the emphasis on religion within the school. Of course that is one of the biggest aspects of the school. Yes, acadmemics are important but you are paying extra for an education in religion, for teachers to pray and spiritually guide you. If you want a school solely focused on academics attend Charles Wright, or Bellarmine Prep (where students can attend study hall instead of mass.) That being said, there are many high school teachers that challenge their students both academically and spiritually as well as those teachers that are not as effective. However, the administration has let go certain teachers and replaced them. They are still in this process. Additionally, I wholeheartedly disagree with the comment based on teachers pulling their own children out or admitting public school kids who were kicked out of local high schools. Life Christian believes that GOD can change hearts, despite the circumstances. Though many of these kids are not perfect, there are many cases of lives being transformed

If you are going to spend this kind of money why not go to bellarmine prep down the road, which is much stronger academically and has many distinguished alumni? It seems outrageous to pay tuition to a very average school, educationally.

Please don't judge this school by a couple of reviews. Talk to people whose children go there or are alumni. LCA is a loving Christian school that prepares students for college and life.

Unfortunately, I must agree with the 2 most recent parent reviews. While LCA has some neat teachers, it is NOT a college prep school and, therefore, not worth the money. Everyone must take an entrance test to see if they can be accepted...but everyone who can pay is accepted so the academic standards are much lower than they advertise. One high school teacher lets her kids sleep in class on Fridays...really! The administration hides a lot of things from the parents- things going on at the school that parents should know and have a right to know...they are our children. There are a number of unsettling things going on. Take your money and your child and find a better school.

We had a child who attended Life Christian Academy high school. Their website is beautiful and they give a great sales pitch. We were promised so much and were excited to be there. However, the reality of the high school is VERY different from what they present to a new family...very disappointing. Be VERY careful before signing your student up- pray very hard! The fact that many teachers there have pulled their own students out of the school should tell you something. The fact that many parents have left and now have their kids in other private schools should tell you that it is not just about the economy. The fact that they accept students who have been kicked out of one or more public high schools should be a red flag to parents. Be careful. I don't care how pretty their website is..the truth is VERY different.
