Not for everyone but my daughter likes the fact that its a huge school with lots of course options and clubs. She really found her footing this Sophomore year- with lots of clubs and things to do. It feels like a mini college with all the options. Administration and front office staff are great and helpful.

Henry M. Jackson High School provides a well-rounded education with great teachers, strong academics, and a wide range of extracurriculars. The school fosters a supportive environment where students feel encouraged to grow and succeed. Highly recommend!

In my family's experience, HM Jackson HS is a wonderful school! We have had five children who attended this school, all of whom received a quality education with plenty of opportunities for college-level learning, as well as participation in sports and robotics. The robotics team is amazing, both in its achievements, but also in the mentoring that encouraged one of our children to pursue a ME degree at UW. Our current student is receiving an abundance of support and care. He has a 504, and his teachers are quick to respond to emails, encouraging, patient, and willing to work with us and our student. My son's counselor is amazing! She has spent time working with our family to create a workable plan, and she has advocated for him with administrators. The VP who works with my son is also extremely supportive. My son's friend group has been caring and supportive as well. Overall, I would highly recommend this school.

I'm a senior here and this place truly is struggling. Its practically falling apart in some places, budget on classes is falling so low next year there wont be as many electives anymore, they cant afford to keep a lot of the teachers. they only have ONE men's bathroom open all the time for all the students and continue to close every other bathroom for boys only.... Not only is there one bathroom but there is one toilet and its absolutely disgusting no one dares to use it, I have to go to the nurses office and use the bathroom in there if I have to go. The staff here is pretty alright but there is a lot of impatient, tyrant like teachers here that make life incredibly hard, not allowing kids to have alternative ways of learning and refuses to apply a students preferred learning style. There's a couple homophobic and far conservative teachers here that push their own beliefs on students. There are so many little loopholes that allow the school to collect money from you which is not okay. Instead of getting detention, suspension or expulsion for vaping in the bathroom, they will make you pay a 200 dollar fine that will not let you graduate until you pay it. This place stinks.

Jackson could and should be so much better. It is thought of as being the “best” high school in the district, but there is nothing great about it. Yes it is a higher income part of the district, and with that there is more engagement from parents, and families that have the means to help a struggling student, but there are just so many negatives.

My older son went to Jackson and had a bad experience, to the point I pulled him out after 2 years to find a different educational opportunity for him. He was on an IEP for awhile and a 504 after being exited off the IEP (which I did NOT agree with. But was told I had no choice). The 504 wasn’t followed and we were told he shouldn’t need it because he’s a good student. Well, yes it is there for a reason.

The crowding was bad. Not enough seating in the lunchroom and huge groups of kids blocking the bathrooms and stairways. My son saw numerous instances of drug use in the bathroom which made it very uncomfortable for him and gave him an overall sense of being safe at school.

The administration didn’t seem to care about issues brought up by parents. Well not most parents anyway. They did seem to play favorites a bit which didn’t make things easy for the rest of us who didn’t have a “popular” kid or a “jock”.

Honestly there were so many things that happened in the 2 years my son was there, too many to even begin to write in a review. But the end result was him not feeling safe or welcome at school, having to leave and continue his schooling elsewhere. To this day he says that Jackson changed him and he wishes he would have never gone even one day.

I now have a younger son in 9th grade and it was not even an option to think of sending him to Jackson. I drive him 30 min each way every day to school out of district just so he doesn’t have to go here. He is having a MUCH better experience in another district. Honestly it’s like night and day. So glad we chose this.

Majority of educators are very efficient at their work and can work with adolescents quite well. The school offers a variety of college level classes such as AP. Most students are definitely not the worst, although many aren't that good to be put into a group with either.

Some teachers who lack a sense of authority/assertiveness to students or have a boring classroom environment can easily lose students' focus/attention leading to detriment for other students' learning. Let us hope that is just this generation of students and not mainly because of the educator.

Overall this school is kind of mid.

Our son loved his experience at Jackson High. He had a wide variety of AP courses to chose from. He also had ample opportunities to pursue extracurriculars with many Clubs to select (a couple of which he and his friends started). The Band here was top-notch. Our son got chance to perform at various regional events, which he immensely enjoyed. The Robotics club at Jackson has consistently won awards at National level. Unfortunately, they couldn't participate during Covid times, so our son missed out on some excitement there. The teachers were great and knew their subjects well. Overall, our son had a well-rounded education here, which we hope he carries to college.

This school has been great! The teachers are fantastic! My son was being bullied and the school took it as a priority. They jumped right in and really made my son feel safe. The teachers also took extra time after school as well. Great work!

To be honest this school is pretty ok in my book. The teachers at this school for the most part are superb. Sadly a lot of my friends and acquaintances have had bad experiences with the ability of the teachers to cater to their mental differences. Many of those people feel as if the teachers do not pay attention or care about their needs. But as far as I know, this is just a small portion of the teachers. The homework in my experience has been pretty ok, nothing amazing. They don't usually overburden you with work which is nice. Sadly a large portion of the kids have some clear character issues. The sad truth is that outward bullying like hate comments arent very common but what is common is manipulation like spreading rumors, knowingly lying, and things like that. I hope this is just an issue with this generation of kids. overall though this school is pretty ok. nothing special but just all right.

Really average. I wish teachers were more interested in their subjects, it makes it easier to learn. Also the gangs are very intimidating, they'll block the hallways while huddling in their group, yelling obscenities at anyone who bumps into them by accident. The population is incredibly divided.

A lot of teachers disregard the fact that students have other (possibly challenging) classes that assign homework. A normal day could provide anywhere from 30-2 hours of homework.

The schools okay I guess. The hallways always smell a bit like toast which is definitely a plus. Some of the teachers are cool. But really the toasty-scented hallways are what keep me returning day after day.

Jackson provides excellent opportunities for the motivated and dedicated learner with a good A/P program and some outstanding educators. However, Jackson fails to provide an adequate safety net or course correction for struggling students. There's also a strong element of economic elitism among many of the well to do students that can socially displace students of less means.

Jackson is not a school for the serious student. There are a high number of children who attend the school because they have too, not because they are interested in learning. I have actually visited the school and monitored classes. I was shocked at the unruliness and overall conduct of the students. The faculty, doesn't seem to truly care about teaching, but instead, teaching seems to only be a job. No passion about being a difference maker. The only thing positive is that it's marginally better than Everett and Cascade HS. If other schooling options are available, I'd recommend consideration.

When I first moved to Jackson, I was immediately greeted by friendly and welcoming people who genuinely care about the student and making you feel comfortable.Our school has a large team dedicated to introducing the freshman. Before school starts in the summer, the orientation is not your typical get-your-schedule-and-leave, but meet other new students and an experienced student at Jackson who will tell you the ropes and get you accustomed to the school layout and several fun activities to "break the ice" and then they serve food. The school has more clubs than you can imagine and your student will find one that they will feel right at home in. The teachers and students encourage reaching out to other students and there is a sense of community in the entire school. The teachers that I have had are some of the best teachers I have ever had in my life! They have fun and creative ways to teach and genuinely care about their students and the quality of education they receive. One thing I wish my school had was orchestra, but other than that, there's plenty of music, lots of athletics, encouraging a healthy lifestyle, great teachers a safe and friendly environment and awesome school.

Let's talk education. My school has some of the greatest teachers I've ever had. Teachers make sure that every student understand what they are learning and involve all students. Of the multitude teachers and staff that I have met, they are all friendly and willing to help. Say your student is a mastermind and maybe a Renaissance Man, there classes to fit your needs. In my pre-calc class, there is a range of students from freshmen, all the way to seniors. This may sound intimidating, but it helps knit our school together and not have a separation of classes where students are scared of the big seniors or afraid of freshmen cooties. Each class has got a handful of genius students and they're always there to help out a fellow student in need. Teachers care about the success of your future and you're falling behind, or if your grades are slipping, they provide opportunities to get back up there. Some teachers are harsh and passionate about the things they teach but they teach, and make sure you know what you need to know. The chill teachers also make sure that you're actually learning but some leave it up to the student if they want to learn or not.
