As a parent, I would highly recommend this school. My daughter graduated from college with honors because she was very well prepared and was just accepted to medical school. No school is perfect. A school is not a building but a dynamic group of people who believe in the mission of a Christian education.

I am disappointed that a student posted such a negative review of our school without making sure that their information was valid. I'm a student at MRLH and I think the school can only go up from here! Yes, the new building may be smaller and older, but it's not about the building, it's about the Mission being accomplished inside that counts. Many of us see the whole picture and are thrilled with the new building and the opportunities that come with it, like partnering with PLU and being able to take some basic college courses! The school did not fire the most recent principal, she stepped down to raise her son and kudos to her for making that decision. Coaches; they come and go. I think that the teachers each do their job well, and interact well with the students also. I have seen quite a bit of success with past students, and I must say that out of the 23 graduating seniors, the majority of them graduated with honors, which says a lot about the education we receive. I think MRLH is a positive, and fun environment to be in, and it academically challenges me, but as with anything, you get what you put into it. I love this school and can't wait to see where it goes in the future!

I feel the need to respond to the previous reviewer. There are a lot of great kids, families and teachers at MRLH and, yes, the school is going through a number of changes. But we would definitely recommend the school. Our son came to MRLH as a sophomore and was immediately welcomed and quickly became an active member on the worship team, student council, several sports teams, debate and drama. He has also received a great education including taking college physics, honors anatomy and advanced math. We have been delighted by the high quality of the character of the student body and the faculty. We are excited now about the opportunity for our son to take classes at PLU as we are now in partnership with PLU. As a parent, I would suggest that you visit the school, meet with the administration and pray for God's direction for your student. God has great plans for each child and MRLH may be the answer to your prayers! To God be the glory, great things He is doing!

I wish I could recommend this school because there are a number of wonderful people at MRLH but I can't. The school is in a free fall. Through numerous unwise decisions, they lost their building and have to move this summer to a much smaller, very old building in a crime infested area of Parkland. They lost a principal a year go, got a new one, and had to fire her due to incompetence. They are now on their third principal in 3 years. This school has had a complete lack of leadership. They just lost their athletic director, baseball coach, volleyball coach, women's basketball coach, 2 key teachers and the guy who raises money for the school - all in the past 3 months or so. The quality people are leaving. Of the remaining teachers- only 2 are excellent. But the other teachers are not teaching in their specialty and it shows. There is so much chaos. Because of the chaos, I don't think I received a good education and I am very worried about going to college this fall. Take my advice, keep looking for a school; your kid deserves better.

I could not have chosen a better school for my 2 sons. I highly recommend MRLH to anyone and everyone. The teachers and staff truly care about each student - academically and spiritually! Money well spent! The MRLH community is like a giant family that cares about not only the students but also the parents and families! We love Mount Rainier Lutheran High!

From a former student of this school, I would never recommend this school to any parents. I had attended public school for quite some time, and had great expectations for this school. Sadly, my expectations were unmet. The principal and staff were more concerned about how their school looked to the board as well as the parents and possible donors than the actual students themselves. Also, the majority of teachers did not seem to be very educated in the subject they were teaching- in one class, the teacher would have us watch movies all the time. The school has no qualms in taking in students that were expelled from other schools and that the discipline is very lax. I've observed a lot of bullying going on, as well as many other staff members but they have done little to put a stop to it. The students are not prepared well enough to face the real world, and in my opinion, it will be a very difficult transition for them.
