I have been attending SRA for the past 3 years now, and it is an amazing school. Although assignments can be difficult at times, I feel that it is truly preparing me for high school and my academic future. When you get to middle school, we have electives like drama (theater), yearbook designing, watercolor painting, and much more. This gives us a chance to express our creativity when we want to. We have Spanish education, where we use Rosetta Stone and begin to speak Spanish fluently. The curriculum exceeds any Gifted and Talented programs, and helps everyone succeed. If there is any student that is struggling, the teachers will always be there to help. Not only does Snowy Range Academy teach academics, there is a great character education program. We learn about all different character traits that help us be a close-knit group that respects, forgives, and loves each other. I like the uniforms, because it portrays everyone as equal and makes bullying rarely occur. If there is any bullying, our principal and/or teachers will handle it right away and help us be kind to each other again. I would reccomend SRA to any family coming to Laramie Wyoming. I am looking forward to my 8th grade year, but am also sad because I know I will have to leave this amazing school. Snowy Range is definitely my home away from home and my second family.

I feel like my daughter learned how to deal with difficult people (adults and children) and I do think the longer we are out of there the more she is regaining her confidence.

Just like any school you have good and bad teachers. Unfortunately more bad than good here. The art teacher was absolutely horrible. Taught nothing as far as actual art and graded kids on their ability to write about the art. My daughter was a great artist and over the years became very discouraged in her talent because of this teacher.

I always tell people. If you are doing really great in life and need someone to crush your spirits. Snowy range is the place to go for that.

There is a very clear line between high and unrealistic expectations. Unfortunately snowy Range does not understand that. Rather than teaching kids to excel, they discourage growth by the constant belittling of anything short of perfect.

NOT AT ALL! Children must learn the one way they are taught. If there is a struggle and grades are bad. No field trip (let's take the children that are struggling out of a learning opportunity). Most of their policies are completely ineffective. Usually damaging and discouraging for the student.

If you get into their little parent teacher click. At that point it matters what your child is going through. However if you aren't the administration will turn a blind eye to any sort of bullying your child is receiving.

It deals with overt bullying. Some of the more subtle bullying it even encourages by making students who are in anyway different stand out more.

Everyone needs to fit into the same small mold, or they will be left behind. Children who are ahead of the curve, or who fall behind the curve, are pushed out.

They have a good character building curriculum, but there is still some bullying especially between different economic levels.

Homework is required from Kindergarten, which could be good for developing study habits. Instead it turns into nothing but busy work that takes over the kids entire evening after school by the higher grades.

This school is not for any child who is above average academically, or is a creative child. Since leaving SRA, my children have thrived academically and moved to the top of their classes. They have self moderation, a drive to continue in school, and college plans. I thought the structure would be good for my kids, but it backfired. From the first grade, they insisted both my children needed medication for ADHD. Once the children were on a 502, the school did nothing to keep up their side of the agreement, or even inform teachers that a plan was in place. The constant drill sergeant type discipline resulted in very little self discipline. Also the punish rather than award style of motivation resulted in the kids never having field trips and being completely burnt out on school. Both kids no longer cared and were doing so poorly, they were each held back in the 5th grade. Since leaving SRA, the children have learned to love school and learning again. Both kids are straight A students and on honor role. They are taking college level classes in HS in order to get credits to get degree sooner. Neither is on medication, and have 0 discipline issues. I am very angry at self for keeping the kids in SRA as long as I did. Each year they wanted to stay there because it was what they were used to and where their friends were. Since leaving they have a much larger social group, and one that is far more supportive. If your child is struggling at this school, don't let them blame the child and try to convince you the fault lays all on your feet. Give an alternative choice a chance and watch if your child blossoms.

SRA thoroughly prepared me for high school. In fact, thanks to SRA's outstanding curriculum, I have found that I already have a comprehensive understanding of material that a majority of my high school classmates have not even covered in their previous classes. Having such an extensive knowledge base has enabled me to begin taking college-level classes and has increased my success in high school. I completely credit this success to my many years at SRA, in which I learned that hard work certainly pays off in the end.

I thought I would write a review of SRA, as I am now on sabbatical in Massachusetts with a 1st and 4th grader in school here. Despite the fact that MA is held up as an educational leader in the US, I was surprised to learn that their math and reading curriculum are behind those of SRA. Further, SRA offers Spanish starting K (by an enthusiastic and dynamic teacher), and our new MA school does not. I think the expectations are higher at SRA than at many schools, and students rise to meet those expectations. Having volunteered occasionally to teach science topics, I find that the students are engaged and focused. The uniform at SRA also eliminates distracting and undesirable socioeconomic distinctions among students.

okay... so this school is pretty darn awesome.. my teachers are cool (most of the time) my class is awesome (most of the time) and classes can be challenging (at times).I just finished seventh grade here and am going into eighth. Middle school is fun, classes are really small and nobody is a horrible jerk (and if they are, everyone finds out pretty quick, so people are pretty nice.) Seventh grade was WAY better than sixth grade. In sixth grade, everyone is SUPER immature, there's a lot of drama, people are rude, mean, and teachers don't trust you at all and so basically you never get to do anything fun in class. Like, ever. (But they have good reason not to trust you). But seventh was really fun. All the jerks and immature weirdos left, and we're left with a class of nine. I'm really looking forward to eighth grade.

my school is snowyrange. This is my first year in Wyoming and SRA and this is the worst school I have went to in the us. Let's start with manners I am a sixth grader and almost all the kids in my class have no manners first they fart and Burt for people to luagh and I have no fun with my classes that stink literally. Also most of them have no food manners they take apart there food and try to gross everyone out. They have no basketball team soccer team etc. The classes are not hard it is just hard to concentrate with annoying kids and boring classes in most classes I have to take pointless notes because the teachers tell us all the answers on study guides I am student at snowy range academy

We have been a part of this school for nearly 6 years and currently have 3 students enrolled. It's hard to choose just one thing we like about SRA. If you want your student to be safe, challenged, and surrounded by a community of caring teachers, staff, and students, then you should definitely consider SRA. It is a wonderful place to be a part of, and the curriculum is second to none (especially compared to the rest of the district).

I love this school, and before I came here I dreaded school. All of my classes are small, ranging from 4 students, to 9, since the classes are so small, i feel more willing to speak my mind, and therefore i understand the subjects more. the uniforms are great, they make my life less stessful in the morning. my only problem with this school is the way one of my teachers favors a classmate of mine because his motherworks for the school.

We love the support the teachers and administration have given to our two children. They have worked to provide extra material for our gifted and talented student to keep her challenged. The Core Knowledge curriculum gives our kids a strong educational foundation, while the small student body means that kids get a lot of individual attention.

This is an excellent school. The curriculum is by far the best in Laramie, Wy. The students get an advanced, complete, well-rounded education that not only benefits them, but also benefits the community. The school's no tolerance policy keeps children free from the treat of bullies and clich s that tend to form at other schools. I am extremely supportive of the time on task policy that keeps the children focused, instead of distracted by non-educational pursuits. Amazing school.
