Buckroe Beach is a little North of Fort Monroe. Nice area for a wander. Saw some people in the water, so I guess it's safe for a swim, too. Bathroom facilities (incl showers), parking. Went with the scouts, scouring the beach for nighttime wildlife. I think they have events there in the summer, as they had a pavilion area set up.
